Chapter Two (פֶּרֶק שֵׁנִי)

Metatron is the Sar haOlam [Prince of the World] (מֶטַטְרוֹן הוּא שַׂר הָעוֹלָם), because he distributes sustenance to all the princes of the nations of the world (מִפְּנֵי שֶׁהוּא מְחַלֵּק מָזוֹן לְכָל שָׂרֵי אֻמּוֹת הָעוֹלָם), and he is Chanoch Na’ar [Enoch the Youth] (וְהוּא חֲנוֹךְ נַעַר), who is the likeness of Na’ar Yisrael [the Youth of Israel], Ze’ir Anpin (שֶׁהוּא דּוּגְמַת נַעַר יִשְׂרָאֵל זְעֵיר אַנְפִּין), and it is the soul of Adam haRishon (וְהִיא נִשְׁמַת אָדָם הָרִאשׁוֹן), which flew from him before he sinned (שֶׁפָּרְחָה מִמֶּנּוּ קֹדֶם שֶׁחָטָא), and Chanoch merited it (וְזָכָה בָהּ חֲנוֹךְ), therefore he entered Gan Eden [the Garden of Eden] alive (לָכֵן נִכְנַס חַי לְגַן עֵדֶן). And behold, from the bodies of Eliyahu and Chanoch a form was made (וְהִנֵּה גּוּפָם שֶׁל אֵלִיָּהוּ וַחֲנוֹךְ נַעֲשָׂה מֵהֶם צוּרָה), for from Chanoch was made Metatron (כִּי מִן חֲנוֹךְ נַעֲשָׂה מֶטַטְרוֹן), and from the body of Eliyahu was made Sandalfon (וּמִן גּוּפוֹ שֶׁל אֵלִיָּהוּ נַעֲשָׂה סַנְדַּלְפוֹן). And their Nefesh, Ruach, and Neshamah sit in Gan Eden [the Garden of Eden] with the rest of the Tzaddikim [Righteous Ones] (וְנַפְשָׁם רוּחָם וְנִשְׁמָתָם הֵם יוֹשְׁבִים בְּגַן עֵדֶן עִם שְׁאָר הַצַּדִּיקִים), and when there are no Tzaddikim [Righteous Ones] in the world (וּכְשֶׁאֵין צַדִּיקִים בָּעוֹלָם), by their merit the world endures (בִּזְכוּתָם מִתְקַיֵּם הָעוֹלָם), and they raise Mayin Nukvin [Female Waters] through their own merit (וְהֵם מַעֲלִים מַיִן נוּקְבִין בִּזְכוּת עַצְמָם), as it is said (שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר): “Train the youth according to his way; even when he grows old, he will not depart from it” (חֲנֹךְ לַנַּעַר עַל פִּי דַרְכּוֹ גַּם כִּי יַזְקִין לֹא יָסוּר מִמֶּנָּה) (Proverbs 22:6). Like a dry tree (כְּמוֹ הָאִילָן הַיָּבֵשׁ), which becomes old (וְנַעֲשָׂה זָקֵן), they pour water upon it (מַשְׁלִיכִים מַיִם עָלָיו), and it is renewed and returns (וְהוּא מִתְחַדֵּשׁ וְחוֹזֵר), to its youthfulness (לְנַעֲרוּתוֹ), and is renewed with the renewal of the moon (וּמִתְחַדֵּשׁ בְּחִדּוּשׁ הַלְּבָנָה), which is called Na’ar Na’arah [Youth and Maiden] (שֶׁנִּקְרֵאת נַעַר נַעֲרָה), and therefore he is called “the elder servant of his house” (וְלָכֵן נִקְרָא עַבְדּוֹ זְקַן בֵּיתוֹ) (Genesis 24:2), and is also called Chanoch Na’ar [Enoch the Youth] (וְנִקְרָא גַּם כֵּן חֲנוֹךְ נַעַר), and he is the garment of the entire Olam haYetzirah [World of Formation] (וְהוּא מַלְבּוּשׁ לְעוֹלָם הַיְצִירָה כֻּלּוֹ), and around him is encircled a garment of fire whose name is Chashmal (וְעָלָיו סוֹבֵב לְבוּשׁ אֵשׁ שְׁמוֹ חַשְׁמַל). And after Metatron is encircled Kelipat Nogah [the Shell of Radiance] (וְאַחַר מֶטַטְרוֹן סוֹבֵב קְלִיפַּת נֹגַהּ), and after it the three Kelipot [Shells]: Ruach Se’arah [Storm Wind], Anan Gadol [Great Cloud], and Esh Mitlakachat [Flaming Fire] (וְאַחֲרֶיהָ הַשָּׁלֹשׁ קְלִיפּוֹת רוּחַ סְעָרָה עָנָן גָּדוֹל אֵשׁ מִתְלַקַּחַת), and they are the secret of the Four Kingdoms (וְהֵם סוֹד אַרְבַּע הַמַּלְכֻיּוֹת), and within them are included the princes of the seventy nations (וּבָהֶם כְּלוּלִים שָׂרֵי הַשִּׁבְעִים אֻמּוֹת), and beneath them is Alma Nukva deTehoma Rabba [the Female World of the Great Deep] (וְתַחְתֵּיהֶם עָלְמָא נוּקְבָא דִתְּהוֹמָא רַבָּא), as it is said (שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר): “The wicked walk on every side” (סָבִיב רְשָׁעִים יִתְהַלָּכוּן) (Psalms 12:9). And when they stand on a great level (וּכְשֶׁעוֹמְדִים בְּמַדְרֵגָה גְּדוֹלָה), ascending above in the secret of Mayin Nukvin [Female Waters] (שֶׁעוֹלִים לְמַעְלָה בְּסוֹד מַיִן נוּקְבִין), Metatron is called Shaddai Sippuka [Shaddai of Sufficiency] (נִקְרָא מֶטַטְרוֹן שַׁדַּי סִיפּוּקָא), in the likeness of Yosef (בְּדוּגְמַת יוֹסֵף), “he is the provider of grain for all the earth” (הוּא הַמַּשְׁבִּיר בָּר לְכָל הָאָרֶץ) (Genesis 42:6). And this Metatron has seventy names (וּמֶטַטְרוֹן זֶה יֵשׁ לוֹ ע׳ שֵׁמוֹת), for he includes the entire Olam haYetzirah [World of Formation] (כִּי הוּא כּוֹלֵל כָּל עוֹלָם הַיְצִירָה), corresponding to them there emerge from him seven companies (כְּנֶגְדָּם יוֹצְאִים מִמֶּנּוּ ז׳ כִּתּוֹת), each one included of ten (שֶׁכָּל אַחַת כְּלוּלָה מֵעֶשֶׂר), totaling seventy (עוֹלִים שִׁבְעִים), and each name alone performs wonders (וּפוֹעֲלִים נִפְלָאוֹת כָּל שֵׁם לְבַדּוֹ), and he has one Mishkan [Tabernacle] (וְיֵשׁ לוֹ מִשְׁכָּן אֶחָד), which includes seven dwellings (הַכּוֹלֵל ז׳ מְדוֹרִין), and it is called the Lower Gan Eden [Garden of Eden] (וְהוּא נִקְרָא גַּן עֵדֶן שֶׁל מַטָּה), and from it dwellings emerge to Asiyah (וּמִמֶּנּוּ יוֹצְאִים מְדוֹרִין לַעֲשִׂיָּה), called the seven firmaments (הַנִּקְרָא ז׳ רְקִיעִים), and they surround the second Asiyah (וְהֵם סוֹבְבִים הָעֲשִׂיָּה הַשֵּׁנִית), which includes the sphere of the belt of the constellations and the seven spheres of the seven wandering stars (שֶׁהִיא כּוֹלֵל גַּלְגַּל חֲגוֹרוֹת הַמַּזָּלוֹת וְז׳ גַּלְגַּלֵּי שֶׁבַע כּוֹכְבֵי לֶכֶת). And they surround beneath the earth (וְהֵם סוֹבְבִים מִתַּחַת לָאָרֶץ), for a sphere is called a firmament (כִּי גַּלְגַּל הוּא נִקְרָא רָקִיעַ), and they are spherical (וְהֵם כַּדּוּרִיִּים), and they revolve above and below (וְסוֹבְבִים לְמַעְלָה וּלְמַטָּה), and among them are the seven lands (וּבֵינֵיהֶם הַז׳ אֲרָצוֹת), and among them are the seven dwellings of Gan Eden [Garden of Eden] (וּבֵינֵיהֶם שִׁבְעָה מְדוֹרֵי גַּן עֵדֶן), and the seven dwellings of Gehinnom (וְשִׁבְעָה מְדוֹרֵי גֵיהִנָּם), which I shall explain according to the good hand of Hashem my God upon me (אֲשֶׁר אֲבָאֲרֵם כְּיַד ה׳ אֱלֹהַי הַטּוֹבָה עָלַי), blessed is Hashem forever, Amen and Amen (יִתְבָּרַךְ י־י לְעוֹלָם אָמֵן וְאָמֵן).
