Chapter Eighty-Eight (פֶּרֶק שְׁמוֹנִים וּשְׁמוֹנָה)

And know (וְדַע), that there are 248 limbs in the Ibbur [Impregnation] of three within three (כִּי יֵשׁ רמ״ח אֵיבָרִים בְּעִבּוּר תְּלַת גּוֹ תְּלַת), when Ze’ir Anpin is in the womb of Binah (כְּשֶׁז״א בְּמְעֵי הַבִּינָה), and likewise in Gadlut [Maturity] (וְכֵן בְּגַדְלוּת), and this is the secret of the verse (וְזֶהוּ סוֹד הַפָּסוּק), “a womb, two wombs, for the head of a man” (רֶחֶם רַחֲמָתַיִם לְרֹאשׁ גֶּבֶר) (Judges 5:30). Meaning (פֵּירוּשׁ), three times 248 (ג' רמ״ח), these are Rechem Rachamatayim [a womb, two wombs] (הֵם רֶחֶם רַחֲמָתַיִם). And these are their particulars (וְזֶהוּ פְּרָטִיּוֹתֵיהֶם): the 248 of the Ibbur [Impregnation] (הָרמ״ח שֶׁל הָעִבּוּר), is the Name Elohim (הוּא שֵׁם אֱלֹהִים), simple, doubled, tripled, squared, which equals two hundred (פָּשׁוּט כָּפוּל מְשֻׁלָּשׁ מְרֻבָּע עוֹלֶה ר׳), as follows (כָּזֶה): Aleph (א׳), Aleph Lamed (א״ל), Aleph Lamed Heh (אל״ה), Aleph Lamed Heh Yud (אלה״י), Elohim (אלהי״ם), behold, two hundred (הֲרֵי מָאתַיִם), and the aforementioned fifteen letters (וְט״ו אוֹתִיּוֹת הַנִּזְכָּר), are equal to the numerical value of “He cast into the sea” (הֵם כְּמִנְיַן יָרָה בַיָּם) (Exodus 15:4), and they are the secret of Achor [Back] which equals Yarah [He cast] (וְהֵם סוֹד אָחוֹר שֶׁעוֹלֶה יָרָה). And these Yarah with the word Elohim are 216 (וְאֵלּוּ הַיָרָה עִם מִלַּת אֱלֹהִים הוּא רי״ו), add the thirty-two paths (תּוֹסִיף ל״ב נְתִיבוֹת), and they are 248 (הֵם רמ״ח), behold before you the 248 of the first Ibbur [Impregnation] (הִנֵּה לְפָנֶיךָ רמ״ח שֶׁל עִבּוּר רִאשׁוֹן), and its explanation is (וּפֵירוּשׁוֹ), that when Ze’ir Anpin was in the womb of his mother (שֶׁבִּהְיוֹתוֹ ז״א בִּמְעֵי אִמּוֹ), he was nursing and receiving influence from the aforementioned Name Elohim, as mentioned (הָיָה יוֹנֵק וּמוּשְׁפָּע מִשֵּׁם אֱלֹהִים הַנִּזְכָּר כַּנִּזְכָּר). And the 248 of Katnut [Smallness] (וְהָרמ״ח שֶׁל קַטְנוּת), is 216 (הוּא רי״ו), which are three A"B [72] (שֶׁהֵם ג' ע״ב), in this manner (בְּזֶה הָאוֹפֶן): the Name S"G and its ten letters (שֵׁם ס״ג וְעֶשֶׂר אוֹתִיּוֹתָיו), and the Name M"H and twenty-six with the one extra in the Name S"G (וְשֵׁם מ״ה וְכ״ו עִם אֶחָד הַמְּיוּתָר בְּשֵׁם ס״ג), and the Name Havayah in its square (וְשֵׁם הַהֲוָיָ״ה בְּרִבּוּעוֹ), as follows (כָּזֶה): Yud (י׳), Yud-Heh (י״ה), Yud-Heh-Vav (יה״ו), Havayah (יהו״ה), behold, the third A"B [72] (הֲרֵי ע״ב שְׁלִישִׁי), they are three A"B [72] that equal 216 (הֵם ג' ע״ב שֶׁעוֹלִים רי״ו), and the thirty-two paths of Chokhmah (וְל״ב נְתִיבוֹת חָכְמָה), meaning the thirty-two Elohim (פֵּירוּשׁ ל״ב אֱלֹהִים), are the second 248 (הֵם רמ״ח שֵׁנִי). Meaning (פֵּירוּשׁ), that when Ze’ir Anpin was in Katnut [Smallness] (שֶׁבִּהְיוֹת זְעֵיר בְּקַטְנוּת), he was nursing and receiving influence from these three aforementioned A"B [72] (הָיָה יוֹנֵק וּמוּשְׁפָּע מֵאֵלּוּ הַשְּׁלֹשָׁה ע״ב הַנִּזְכָּר), and from the thirty-two Elohim, as mentioned (וְהַל״ב אֱלֹהִים כַּנִּזְכָּר). And the 248 limbs of Gadlut [Maturity] (וְהָרמ״ח אֵיבָרִים שֶׁל גַדְלוּת), are A"B, S"G, M"H, B"N (הֵם ע״ב ס״ג מ״ה ב״ן), which equal 232 (שֶׁעוֹלִים רל״ב), and the sixteen letters of these four Names (וְ־י״ו אוֹתִיּוֹת שֶׁל אֵלּוּ הָאַרְבָּעָה שֵׁמוֹת), behold, 248 (הֲרֵי רמ״ח). Furthermore (עוֹד), you should know (תֵּדַע), that in the first Ibbur [Impregnation], three within three (שֶׁבְּעִבּוּר רִאשׁוֹן תְּלַת גּוֹ תְּלַת), there were then two Elohim from Binah (הָיוּ אָז ב' אֱלֹהִים מִבִּינָה), meaning the Mochin [Supernal Intellects] (פֵּירוּשׁ הַמּוֹחִין), and two Mochin [Supernal Intellects] from the side of Abba (וּב' הַמּוֹחִין מִצַּד אַבָּא), for he still does not possess Da’at (כִּי עֲדַיִן אֵין לוֹ דַּעַת), and the word Elohim has fifty-two letters (וְתֵיבַת אֱלֹהִים יֵשׁ לוֹ ב״ן אוֹתִיּוֹת), as follows (כָּזֶה): Aleph Lamed Heh Yud Mem (אל״ף למ״ד ה״י יו״ד מ״ם), Aleph Lamed Peh (אל״ף למ״ד פ״א), Lamed Mem Dalet (למ״ד מ״ם דל״ת), Heh Yud (ה״י יו״ד), Yud Vav Dalet (יו״ד וי״ו דל״ת), Mem Mem (מ״ם מ״ם), Elohim (אֱלֹהִים), behold, fifty-two letters (הֲרֵי ב״ן אוֹתִיּוֹת), and this is the secret of “the sons of the Elohim” (וְזֶהוּ סוֹד בְּנֵי הָאֱלֹהִים) (Genesis 6:2). And four times B"N [52] (וְד' פְּעָמִים ב״ן), corresponding to the four Elohim that we mentioned (כְּנֶגֶד הַד' אֱלֹהִים שֶׁאָמַרְנוּ), equal Kodkod [Crown of the Head] (עוֹלִים קָדְקֹד), the place where the brain of an infant is soft (מְקוֹם שֶׁמּוֹחוֹ שֶׁל תִּינוֹק רוֹפֵס), this is Ze’ir Anpin (הוּא ז״א), who is called a small youth (שֶׁנִּקְרָא נַעַר קָטָן), he is the infant (הוּא תִּינוֹק), for during the time of Katnut [Smallness] (שֶׁבִּזְמַן הַקַּטְנוּת), he corresponds to Yitzchak (עוֹלֶה יִצְחָק), and this is the secret of (וְזֶהוּ סוֹד), “Elohim has made laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh with me” (צְחֹק עָשָׂה לִי אֱלֹהִים כָּל הַשֹּׁמֵעַ יִצְחַק לִי) (Genesis 21:6), and Yitzchak is Din [Judgment], as is known (וְיִצְחָק הוּא דִּין כַּנּוֹדָע).

And you must know (וְצָרִיךְ אַתָּה לָדַעַת), that in Katnut [Smallness] (שֶׁבְּקַטְנוּת), he possesses three Elohim from Abba and three from Imma (יֵשׁ לוֹ שָׁלֹשׁ אֱלֹהִים מֵאַבָּא וְשָׁלֹשׁ מֵאִמָּא), meaning three Mochin [Supernal Intellects] (פֵּירוּשׁ ג' מוֹחִין), thus there are ten Elohim (נִמְצָא י' אֱלֹהִים), six in Katnut [Smallness] and four in Gadlut [Maturity] (שִׁשָּׁה בְּקַטְנוּת וְאַרְבָּעָה בְּגַדְלוּת), and they equal Taltel [860] (וְעוֹלִים תִּלְתַּל). And this is the secret of “Taltalim” [Curled Locks] (וְזֶהוּ סוֹד תַּלְתַּלִּים) (Song of Songs 5:11), meaning (פֵּירוּשׁ), the numerical value of ten Elohim (מִנְיַן י' אֱלֹהִים), and the Yud and Mem of Taltalim [Curled Locks] (וְיו״ד וּמ״ם שֶׁל תַּלְתַּלִּים), are the secret of the fifty letters of the ten Elohim (הוּא סוֹד נ' אוֹתִיּוֹת שֶׁל י' אֱלֹהִים), as I wrote above (כַּאֲשֶׁר כָּתַבְתִּי לְמַעְלָה), and there I also explained to you (וְשָׁם פֵּרַשְׁתִּי לְךָ גַּם כֵּן), the secret of the Mochin [Supernal Intellects] of Gadlut [Maturity] in detail (סוֹד הַמּוֹחִין שֶׁל הַגַּדְלוּת בִּפְרָטִיּוּת), and the secret of the fifty letters (וְסוֹד הַנ' אוֹתִיּוֹת), and the secret of the Yud and Mem of Taltalim [Curled Locks] (וְסוֹד הַיו״ד מ״ם שֶׁל תַּלְתַּלִּים). And take care not to forget these principles that I have explained to you (וְהִשָּׁמֵר שֶׁלֹּא תִּשְׁכַּח הַכְּלָלִים הָאֵלּוּ שֶׁפֵּרַשְׁתִּי לְךָ), so that you will not forget them (כְּדֵי שֶׁלֹּא תִּשְׁכַּח אוֹתָם), for all of them are needed by you (כִּי כֻלָּם צְרִיכִים לְךָ), in the secret of the Kaddish and the secret of the prayer (בְּסוֹד הַקַּדִּישׁ וְסוֹד הַתְּפִלָּה), and now I have awakened you to know (וְעַתָּה עוֹרַרְתִּיךָ לֵידַע), in its proper place (בִּמְקוֹמוֹ הָרָאוּי לוֹ), “which is the way where light dwells” (אֵיזֶה דֶּרֶךְ יִשְׁכּוֹן אוֹר) (Job 38:19), blessed be Hashem forever, Amen and Amen (יִתְבָרַךְ י״י לְעוֹלָם אָמֵן וְאָמֵן).
