Chapter Fifteen (פֶּרֶק חֲמִשָּׁה עָשָׂר)

The wicked Samael that we mentioned (סמא״ל הָרָשָׁע שֶׁזָּכַרְנוּ), has twelve hosts of destroyers beneath him (יֵשׁ לוֹ י״ב כִּתּוֹת מְחַבְּלִים תַּחְתָּיו), prosecuting against the twelve upper and lower tribes of Yah (הַמְקַטְרְגִים עַל י״ב שִׁבְטֵי יָ״ה עֶלְיוֹנִים וְתַחְתּוֹנִים). And these are their names (וְאֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹתָם): The first prince, his name is Ba’ariron (הַשַּׂר הָרִאשׁוֹן שְׁמוֹ בַּעֲרִירוֹ״ן), he is called thus because he is fourth in rank to the levels above him (נִקְרָא כֵּן עַל שֵׁם שֶׁהוּא רְבִיעִי לַמַּעֲלוֹת שֶׁלְּמַעְלָה מִמֶּנּוּ), and he too is full of evil (וְגַם הוּא מָלֵא רָעָה), and it is also an expression of “A brutish man does not know, nor does a fool understand this” (וְגַם הוּא לְשׁוֹן אִישׁ בַּעַר לֹא יֵדָע וּכְסִיל לֹא יָבִין אֶת זֹאת) (Psalms 92:7), the purpose of the Shekhinah in her ascent above for union, who is called Zot [This] (תַּכְלִית הַשְּׁכִינָה בַּעֲלִיָּתָהּ לְמַעְלָה לַזִּוּוּג הַנִּקְרֵאת זֹאת), as it is said, “With this shall Aharon come into the Sanctuary” (בְּזֹאת יָבֹא אַהֲרֹן אֶל הַקֹּדֶשׁ) (Leviticus 16:3). And this is (וְזֶהוּ), the secret of the bribe of the goat to Azazel (סוֹד הַשֹּׁחַד שָׂעִיר לַעֲזָאזֵל), that he turn away from the Shekhinah and not defile the Sanctuary (שֶׁיִּפְנֶה מֵהַשְּׁכִינָה וְלֹא יְסָאֵב מַקְדְּשָׁא). The second prince is Adimron (הַשַּׂר הַשֵּׁנִי אַדִימְרוֹ״ן), his colors are like blood mixed with water (גַּוְונָיו כְּעֵין הַדָּם הַמְעוֹרָב בַּמַּיִם). The third prince is Tzalaldemiron (הַשַּׂר הַשְּׁלִישִׁי צְלַלְדְמִירוֹ״ן), his color is like a clear appearance (גַּוְונוֹ כְּמַרְאֵה הַצָּלוּל). The fourth prince is Shachriron (הַשַּׂר הָרְבִיעִי שַׁחֲרִירוֹ״ן), all his colors are black (גַּוְונָיו כּוּלָּם שְׁחוֹרִים). The fifth prince is Shalhaviron (הַשַּׂר הַחֲמִישִׁי שַׁלְהֲבִירוֹ״ן), his colors are like a flame of fire (גַּוְונָיו כִּדְמוּת שַׁלְהֶבֶת אֵשׁ). The sixth prince is Afriron (הַשַּׂר הַשִּׁשִּׁי עַפְרִירוֹ״ן), his colors are like dust (גַּוְונָיו כִּדְמוּת הֶעָפָר). The seventh prince is Avariron (הַשַּׂר הַשְּׁבִיעִי עֲבָרִירוֹ״ן), his colors are like clouds (גַּוְונָיו כִּדְמוּת עָבִים), and he and all his camp clothe themselves in clouds that circulate in the world (וְהוּא וְכָל מַחֲנֵהוּ מִתְלַבְּשִׁים בְּעָבִים הַמְסַבְּבִים בָּעוֹלָם), all kinds of damages (כָּל מִינֵי נְזִיקִין). The eighth prince is Nechushtiron (הַשַּׂר הַשְּׁמִינִי נְחֻשְׁתִּירוֹ״ן), his colors are like copper (גַּוְונָיו כְּעֵין נְחֹשֶׁת). The ninth prince is Nachshiron (הַשַּׂר הַתְּשִׁיעִי נַחְשִׁירוֹ״ן), his colors are like serpents, he and all his camp (גַּוְונָיו כְּעֵין נְחָשִׁים הוּא וְכָל מַחֲנֵהוּ). The tenth prince is Dagriron (הַשַּׂר הָעֲשִׂירִי דַּגְרִי״רוֹן), his colors are like fish (גַּוְונָיו כְּעֵין דָּגִים), and the colors are like plants (וְהַגַּוְונִים כְּעֵין צְמָחִים). The eleventh prince is Behamiron (הַשַּׂר הָאַחַד עָשָׂר בְּהֲמִירוֹ״ן), all his colors are like terrifying and dreadful beasts (כָּל גַּוְונִים שֶׁלּוֹ כִּדְמוּת בְּהֵמוֹת אֲיֻמּוֹת וְנוֹרָאוֹת), and he is a ruling prince over a thousand mighty princes in the mountains (וְהוּא שַׂר מוֹשֵׁל עַל אֶלֶף שָׂרִים חֲזָקִים בֶּהָרִים), and each prince has his own camp (וְכָל שַׂר וָשַׂר אֵלָיו מַחֲנֵהוּ). The twelfth prince is Nashmiron (הַשַּׂר הי״ב נַשְׁמִירוֹ״ן), he and all his camp are in the form of evil women (הוּא וְכָל מַחֲנֵהוּ צוּרַת נָשִׁים רָעוֹת), more harmful than all the harmful hosts (מַזִּיקוֹת מִכָּל הַכִּתּוֹת הַמַּזִּיקוֹת). And the masters of this wisdom, expert in the use of the Names (וּבַעֲלֵי חָכְמָה זֹאת הַבְּקִיאִים בְּשִׁמּוּשׁ הַשֵּׁמוֹת אוֹמְרִים), also say that his name is Chatuliron (שֶׁגַּם כֵּן שְׁמוֹ חֲתוּלִירוֹ״ן), because at times he and all his camp appear in the form of large black cats (שֶׁפְּעָמִים הוּא וְכָל מַחֲנֵהוּ נִרְאִים כִּדְמוּת חֲתוּלִים גְּדוֹלִים וּשְׁחוֹרִים). And there are also seven other hosts appointed over the seven days of the week These seven angels are appointed over the seven days of the week (שִׁבְעָה אֵלּוּ הַמַּלְאָכִים מְמֻנִּים עַל שִׁבְעָה יְמֵי הַשָּׁבוּעַ), and one rules over them all (וְאֶחָד מוֹשֵׁל עַל כֻּלָּם). And those appointed over them are Talmah, Samael, and King Katzkefuni (וְהַמְמֻנִּים עֲלֵיהֶם הֵם תַּלְמָ״ה וְסמא״ל וְקַצְקְפוּנִ״י הַמֶּלֶךְ), and they are appointed over the seven (וְהֵם מְמֻנִּים עַל הַשִּׁבְעָה), to punish the enemy (לְהַעֲנִישׁ שׂוֹנֵא), and each one has a host of his own (וְכָל אֶחָד וְאֶחָד יֵשׁ לוֹ כִּתָּה בִּפְנֵי עַצְמוֹ), and all of them are to punish and destroy the enemies of Yisrael, may the Merciful One save us (וְכֻלָּם לְהַעֲנִישׁ וּלְחַבֵּל שׂוֹנְאֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל רַחֲמָנָא לִיצְלַן). “And those who turn aside to their crooked ways, Hashem shall lead away with the workers of iniquity; peace be upon Yisrael” (וְהַמַּטִּים עֲקַלְקַלּוֹתָם יוֹלִיכֵם י״י אֶת פֹּעֲלֵי הָאָוֶן שָׁלוֹם עַל יִשְׂרָאֵל) (Psalms 125:5). “And with Him is abundant redemption, and He shall redeem Yisrael from all his iniquities” (וְהַרְבֵּה עִמּוֹ פְדוּת וְהוּא יִפְדֶּה אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל מִכָּל עֲוֹנוֹתָיו) (Psalms 130:7–8). Blessed is Hashem forever, Amen and Amen (יִתְבָרַךְ י״י לְעוֹלָם אָמֵן וְאָמֵן).
