Chapter Forty-Seven (פֶּרֶק אַרְבָּעִים וְשִׁבְעָה)

You need to know (צָרִיךְ שֶׁתֵּדַע), that all those nine hundred and seventy-four generations (כָּל אוֹתָם הַתִּתְקַע״ד דּוֹרוֹת), during which the Torah was hidden away for Yisrael (אֲשֶׁר הָיְתָה הַתּוֹרָה גְּנוּזָה לְיִשְׂרָאֵל), those nine hundred and seventy-four generations (אוֹתָם הַתִּתְקַע״ד דּוֹרוֹת), were receiving illumination from the surplus of the Zivug [union] of Abba and Imma (הָיוּ מְקַבְּלִים הֶאָרָה מֵהַמּוֹתָר שֶׁל זִוּוּג אַבָּא וְאִמָּא), which separates many separations (הַמַּבְדִּיל כַּמָּה הַבְדָּלוֹת), from the emission of their illumination (מִפְּלִיטַת הֶאָרָתָם), and from my flesh I shall behold God (וּמִבְּשָׂרִי אֶחֱזֶה אֱלוֹהַּ) (Job 19:26), the emission of the woman when she does not conceive (פְּלִיטַת הָאִשָּׁה כַּאֲשֶׁר לֹא תִתְעַבֵּר), and therefore they did not merit the Torah (וְלָכֵן לֹא זָכוּ לַתּוֹרָה). And this is the secret of (וְזֶהוּ סוֹד), who were shriveled up before their time, whose foundation was poured out like a river (אֲשֶׁר קֻמְּטוּ וְלֹא עֵת נָהָר יוּצַק יְסוֹדָם) (Job 22:16).

The explanation is (פֵּירוּשׁ), know why they were shriveled up before their time (תֵּדַע לָמָּה הֵמָּה קֻמְּטוּ בְּלֹא עֵת), whose foundation was poured out like a river (נָהָר יוּצַק יְסוֹדָם), because the river (מִפְּנֵי שֶׁנָּהָר), which is the Yesod (שֶׁהוּא יְסוֹד), pours out their foundation (מוּצָק יְסוֹדָם), the expression foundation (לְשׁוֹן יְסוֹד), displaced them and emptied them from place to place (הֵצִיקָם וְהֵרִיקָם מִמָּקוֹם לְמָקוֹם), and from vessel to vessel (וּמִכְּלִי אֶל כֶּלִי), and that which was poured forth from it (וְהַנִּשְׁפָּךְ מִמֶּנּוּ), benefited the nine hundred and seventy-four generations that were there (נֶהֱנָה לַתִּתְקַע״ד דּוֹרוֹת שֶׁשָּׁם הָיוּ). And from here you will understand (וּמִכָּאן תָּבִין), the Zivug [union] of Abba and Imma for the sake of the life of the worlds (זִוּוּג אַבָּא וְאִמָּא לְצוֹרֶךְ חַיּוּת הָעוֹלָמוֹת), and not for conception from it (וְלֹא לְהִתְעַבֵּר מִמֶּנּוּ), which does not cease and is continual (שֶׁאֵינוֹ פּוֹסֵק וְהוּא תָּמִידִי), as it is said (שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר), and a river went out from Eden to water the garden (וְנָהָר יֹצֵא מֵעֵדֶן לְהַשְׁקוֹת אֶת הַגָּן) (Genesis 2:10), and it is said (וְנֶאֱמַר), and like a spring of water whose waters do not fail (וּכְמוֹצָא מַיִם אֲשֶׁר לֹא יְכַזְּבוּ מֵימָיו) (Isaiah 58:11), and they are companions who never separate (וְאִינוּן רֵעִין דְּלָא מִתְפָּרְשִׁין לְעָלְמִין). Blessed is Hashem forever, Amen and Amen (יִתְבָרַךְ יְיָ לְעוֹלָם אָמֵן וְאָמֵן).
