Chapter Nine (פֶּרֶק תְּשִׁיעִי)
We said that from the Chesed alone of Arich Anpin, the Partzuf of Abba was made, and likewise from the Gevurah, Imma (אָמַרְנוּ שֶׁמֵּחֶסֶד לְבַד שֶׁל אֲרִיךְ, נַעֲשָׂה פַּרְצוּף אַבָּא, וְכֵן מִגְּבוּרָה אִמָּא), and the matter is as follows (וְהָעִנְיָן הוּא); You already know that Chesed has three sections (כְּבָר יָדַעְתָּ כִּי הַחֶסֶד יֵשׁ לוֹ ג׳ פְּרָקִים), and from each of those sections one attribute was made in Abba, as stated (וְכָל פֶּרֶק מֵהֶם, נַעֲשֵׂית מִדָּה אַחַת בְּאַבָּא כָּאָמוּר), and likewise from Gevurah in Imma (וְכֵן מִגְּבוּרָה בְּאִימָא). And behold, the arm has two illuminations (וְהִנֵּה הַזְּרוֹעַ יֵשׁ לָהּ שְׁתֵּי הֶאָרוֹת), one corresponding to the front and one from the back (אֶחָד כְּנֶגֶד הַפָּנִים וְאֶחָד מֵאָחוֹר), and behold, the aspect of the right line, which is the aspect of Chokhmah, Chesed, Netzach (וְהִנֵּה בְּחִינַת קַו הַיָּמִין שֶׁהוּא בְּחִינַת ח׳כְמָה וְח׳סֶד וְנ׳צַח), was made from the aspect of the illumination of the front (נַעֲשׂוּ מִבְּחִינַת הֶאָרַת פָּנִים), and the left line, which is Binah, Gevurah, Hod (וְקַו הַשְּׂמֹאל שֶׁהוּא ב׳ִינָה ג׳ְבוּרָה ה׳וֹד), was made from the illuminations of the back (נַעֲשׂוּ מֵהֶָארוֹת אָחוֹר), and likewise in this manner in Imma (וְכֵן עַל זֶה הַדֶּרֶךְ בְּאִימָא). And their middle line was made from the middle line (וְהַקַּו הָאֶמְצָעִי שֶׁלָּהֶם נַעֲשׂוּ מֵהַקַּו הָאֶמְצָעִי), which is from the throat until half of the Tiferet of Arich Anpin (שֶׁהוּא מִן הַגָּרוֹן עַד חֲצִי הַת״ת שֶׁל אֲרִיךְ).
And behold, we said that the Yesod of Atika [the Ancient One] ends at the chest of Arich Anpin (וְהִנֵּה אָמַרְנוּ שֶׁהַיְסוֹד שֶׁל עַתִּיקָא נִשְׁלָם עַד הֶחָזֶה שֶׁל אֲרִיךְ), and you must know (וְצָרִיךְ שֶׁתֵּדַע), that when the light reaches there, it emerges openly without any screen (שֶׁכְּשֶׁמַּגִּיעַ לְשָׁם הָאוֹר יוֹצֵא בְּגִלּוּי בִּלְתִּי שׁוּם מָסָךְ), and the light spreads to all sides (וּמִתְפַּשֵּׁט הָאוֹר לְכָל הַצְּדָדִים). And the light that emerges is the Five Chasadim (וְהָאוֹר הַיּוֹצֵא הוּא הַה׳ חֲסָדִים), and when the Chasadim emerge they go to the right side in Arich Anpin (וּכְשֶׁיּוֹצְאִים הַחֲסָדִים הוֹלְכִים לְצַד יָמִין בַּאֲרִיךְ), and from there Abba is made (וּמִשָּׁם נַעֲשֶׂה אַבָּא), and the Gevurot go to the left side and Imma is made (וְהַגְּבוּרוֹת לִשְׂמֹאל וְנַעֲשֵׂית אִימָא), such that the entire construction of Abba is from the Chasadim, and the entire construction of Imma is from the Gevurot (בְּאוֹפֶן שֶׁכָּל בִּנְיַן אַבָּא מֵהַחֲסָדִים וּבִנְיַן אִמָּא מֵהַגְּבוּרוֹת). And this is what the Zohar says, “Abba is more concealed” (וְזֶהוּ שֶׁאוֹמֵר בַּזֹּהַר אַבָּא טָמִיר יַתִּיר) (Zohar, Devarim, Idra Zuta 291a), because from the aspect of the separation he is entirely Chasadim (לְפִי שֶׁמִּצַּד הַנְּסִירָה הוּא כֻּלּוֹ חֲסָדִים), and also because the Five Chasadim come to him (וְגַם אֵלָיו בָּאִים ה׳ חֲסָדִים), and understand that every section possesses an illumination of the front and an illumination of the back (וְהָבֵן שֶׁלְּכָל פֶּרֶק יֵשׁ בּוֹ הֶאָרַת פָּנִים וְהֶאָרַת אָחוֹר), therefore Chasadim and Gevurot built and illuminated every section (לָכֵן בָּנוּ [הֵאִירוּ] חֲסָדִים וּגְבוּרוֹת בְּכָל פֶּרֶק).
