Chapter One (פֶּרֶק רִאשׁוֹן)
have already explained to you above (כְּבָר פֵּרַשְׁתִּי לְךָ לְמַעְלָה), that the fractured Chokhmah and the fractured Binah (שֶׁחָכְמָה הַסְּדוּקָה וּבִינָה הַסְּדוּקָה), which are the Chokhmah and Binah of the World of Tohu (שֶׁהֵם חָכְמָה וּבִינָה שֶׁל עוֹלָם הַתּוֹהוּ), ascended above to the place of the Chokhmah and Binah of Keter (עָלוּ לְמַעְלָה לִמְקוֹם חָכְמָה וּבִינָה שֶׁל כֶּתֶר), and from them were made the Reisha DeEin [the Head of Nothingness] and the head of Arich Anpin (וְנַעֲשׂוּ מֵהֶם רֵישָׁא דְאֵין וְרֵישָׁא דְאֲרִיךְ אַנְפִּין), and they are called the Chokhmah and Binah within Keter (וְנִקְרָאִים חָכְמָה וּבִינָה שֶׁבַּכֶּתֶר). Because they are within the Reshimu of Keter (מִפְּנֵי שֶׁהֵם בְּתוֹךְ הָרְשִׁימוּ שֶׁל כֶּתֶר), part of which departed above the Tehiru (שֶׁנִּסְתַּלֵּק קְצָתוֹ לְמַעְלָה מִטְּהִירוּ), and became Adam Kadma’ah in general (וְנַעֲשָׂה אָדָם קַדְמָאָה סְתָם), and the Reshimu of Keter that remained (וְהָרְשִׁימוּ שֶׁל כֶּתֶר [הַנִּשְׁאָר]), became included within them (נִכְלַל בָּהֶם), namely within the Reisha DeEin [the Head of Nothingness] and Arich Anpin (דְּהַיְינוּ בְּרֵישָׁא דְאֵין וַאֲרִיךְ), for every spiritual thing, even though it is removed from its place (כִּי כָּל דָּבָר רוּחָנִי אַף עַל פִּי שֶׁנֶּעְתַּק מִמְּקוֹמוֹ), leaves there its Reshimu (יַנִּיחַ שָׁם רְשִׁימוּ שֶׁלָּהּ), which possesses some degree of substance (שֶׁיֵּשׁ בּוֹ אֵיזֶה מַמָּשׁוּת). And this is what our Rabbis of blessed memory said (וְזֶהוּ שֶׁאָמְרוּ חֲזַ״ל), “The Shekhinah did not depart until it made an impression” (לֹא זָזָה שְׁכִינָה עַד שֶׁעָשְׂתָה רוֹשֶׁם) (source uncertain), and this is the secret of “The whole earth is filled with His glory” (וְזֶהוּ סוֹד מְלֹא כָל הָאָרֶץ כְּבוֹדוֹ) (Isaiah 6:3), which is the secret of this impression (שֶׁהוּא סוֹד הָרוֹשֶׁם הַזֶּה), for it filled all the space before the existence of all the worlds (שֶׁהוּא הָיָה מְמַלֵּא קֹדֶם חֲלַל הָעוֹלָמוֹת כֻּלָּם), and left a Reshimu within them (וְהִנִּיחַ רְשִׁימוּ בְּתוֹכָם). And just as the aforementioned Chokhmah and Binah attained an impression from Keter, namely Adam Kadmon (וּכְמוֹ שֶׁחָכְמָה וּבִינָה הַנִּזְכָּרוֹת הִשִּׂיגוּ רוֹשֶׁם מִכֶּתֶר דְּהַיְינוּ אָדָם קַדְמוֹן), so too the aforementioned Chokhmah and Binah left their impression below in their original place (כָּךְ הִנִּיחוּ חָכְמָה וּבִינָה הַנִּזְכָּרוֹת רִישׁוּמָם בִּמְקוֹמָם לְמַטָּה, בַּמָּקוֹם שֶׁהָיוּ שָׁם בַּתְּחִלָּה). And after Arich Anpin spread forth in its Ten Sefirot (וְאַחַר שֶׁנִּתְפַּשֵּׁט אֲרִיךְ בְּעֶשֶׂר סְפִירוֹתָיו), behold, this Reshimu is found clothing Arich Anpin from its shoulders downward only until its navel (הִנֵּה זֶה הָרְשִׁימוּ נִמְצָא מַלְבִּישׁ אֶת אֲרִיךְ מִכְּתֵפָיו וּלְמַטָּה עַד טִבּוּרוֹ בִּלְבַד), and from this Reshimu He rectified the Partzufim of Abba and Imma (וְהוּא תִּקֵּן מֵהָרְשִׁימוּ הַזֶּה פַּרְצוּפֵי אַבָּא וְאִמָּא), and the Partzufim of Abba and Imma never pass beyond the navel of Arich Anpin under any circumstance (וְאֵין פַּרְצוּפֵי אַבָּא וְאִמָּא עוֹבְרִים טִבּוּר אֲרִיךְ בְּשׁוּם פָּנִים). Rather, after the rectification of Ze’ir Anpin (אֶלָּא שֶׁאַחֲרֵי תִּיקּוּן זְעֵיר), Yisrael Saba and Tevunah (יִשְׂרָאֵל סָבָא וּתְבוּנָה) extended downward in their lower Partzufim (נִשְׁתַּרְבְּבוּ לְמַטָּה בְּפַרְצוּפֵיהֶם הַתַּחְתּוֹנִים), for the purpose of building Ze’ir Anpin and its Nukvah (לְצוֹרֶךְ בִּנְיַן זְעֵיר וְנוּקְבֵיהּ). It follows that the greater part of the number and the greater part of the structure of the Tikkunim of the two points of Chokhmah and Binah of the World of Tohu [Chaos] ascended above to the Reisha DeEin [the Head of Nothingness] and Arich Anpin (נִמְצָא רֹב מִנְיָן וְרֹב בִּנְיָן תִּיקּוּנֵיהֶם שֶׁל שְׁתֵּי נְקוּדוֹת חָכְמָה וּבִינָה שֶׁל עוֹלָם הַתּוֹהוּ, עָלוּ לְמַעְלָה לְאֵין וַאֲרִיךְ), and a minority of them remained (וּמִיעוּטָן נִשְׁאָר), extending from them and connected to them (מִתְפַּשֵּׁט מֵהֶם וּמְחֻבָּר אֲלֵיהֶן), until Abba and Imma were rectified (עַד שֶׁנִּתְקַנּוּ אַבָּא וְאִמָּא), who were included within the remnants of the points (שֶׁנִּכְלְלוּ בִּשְׁיָרֵי הַנְּקוּדוֹת), after Arich Anpin entered into the place of Keter, which includes the Three Heads (אַחֲרֵי שֶׁנִּכְנַס אֲרִיךְ בִּמְקוֹם כֶּתֶר הַכּוֹלֵל תְּלַת רֵישִׁין), and was considered one Keter (וְנֶחְשָׁב לְכֶתֶר אֶחָד), because of the greatness of its unity (מִפְּנֵי רֹב יִחוּדוֹ).
