Chapter Seven (פֶּרֶק שְׁבִיעִי)
If there had not been the Tikkun of Adam Kadmon, namely from his Yesod (אִלּוּ לֹא הָיָה תִּיקּוּן אָדָם קַדְמוֹן דְּהַיְינוּ מִיסוֹד שֶׁלּוֹ), these Thirteen Tikkunim would not have come (לֹא [הָיוּ] בָאִים הַי״ג תִּיקּוּנִים הָאֵלֶּה), and there would not have been the Tikkun of Arich Anpin together with his two companions (לֹא הָיָה תִּיקּוּן אֲרִיךְ אַנְפִּין עִם הַב׳ חֲבֵרָיו), nor the Tikkunim of Ze’ir Anpin and his Nukvah (וְגַם תִּיקּוּנִין דְּזְעֵיר אַנְפִּין וְנוּקְבֵיהּ לֹא הָיוּ). And this is what it says in the Idra Rabba, Parashat Naso, Great Zohar, daf 63a (וְזֶהוּ שֶׁאָמַר בָּאִדְּרָא רַבָּא פָּרָשַׁת נָשֹׂא זוֹהַר גָּדוֹל דַּף ס״ג ע״א):
We learned: if Atika deAtikin [the Ancient of Ancients], the Holy of Holies, had not been rectified through these Tikkunim (תָּאנָא אִי עַתִּיקָא דְעַתִּיקִין קַדִּישָׁא דְקַדִּישִׁין לָא אִתְתַּקַּן בְּאֵלּוּ תִּיקּוּנִין), the upper and lower realms would not exist (לָא אִשְׁתְּכָחוּ עִלָּאִין וְתַתָּאִין), and all would be as though they never were (וְכֹלָּא הֲוֵי כְּלָא הֲווּ). And it was taught: how radiant are these Tikkunim of the Dikna [Beard], even the thirteen below (וְתַנְיָא עַד כַּמָּה זְהִירִין אִלֵּין תִּיקּוּנֵי דְדִיקְנָא עַד תְּלֵיסַר דִּלְתַתָּא). And whenever these thirteen are found, these radiances are found (וְכָל זִמְנָא דִּתְלֵיסַר אִלֵּין מִשְׁתַּכְחִין זְהִירִין אִלֵּין). All the number of these thirteen is found (כָּלָא חוּשְׁבְּנָא דְאִלֵּין תְּלֵיסַר אִשְׁתְּכַח), the Dikna [Beard] of the ancient King, more precious than all (דִּיקְנָא דְמַלְכָּא עַתִּיקָא יַקִּירָא מִכֹּלָּא), all in one (כָּלָא בְּחַד), hidden and precious is He (אִיהוּ טְמִירָא וְיַקִּירָא), because He is more precious and hidden than all (בְּגִין דְאִיהוּ יַקִּירָא וְטָמִירָא מִכֹּלָּא), it is not mentioned in any place of the Orayta, nor revealed (לָא אַדְכַּר בֵּיהּ בְּאַתַר דְאוֹרַיְתָא וְלָא אִתְגַּלְיָיא). And what Dikna [Beard] is revealed? The Dikna [Beard] of the supernal Kohen Gadol (וּמַה דִּיקְנָא אִתְגַּלְיָיא דִּיקְנָא דְכֹהֲנָא רַבָּא עִלָּאָה), and from this Dikna [Beard] it descends to the Dikna [Beard] below, of the lower Kohen Gadol (וּמֵהַאי דִּיקְנָא נָחִית לְדִיקְנָא דִּלְתַתָּא דְכֹהֲנָא רַבָּא דִּלְתַתָּא). What is the Dikna [Beard] of the Kohen Gadol? (מַאי דִּיקְנָא דְכֹהֲנָא רַבָּא), the Dikna [Beard] of the Kohen Gadol is rectified in eight Tikkunim (דִּיקְנָא דְכֹהֲנָא רַבָּא בִּתְמָנְיָא תִּיקּוּנִין אִתְתַּקַּן). And therefore eight Tikkunim belong to the Kohen Gadol (וּבְגִין כָּךְ תְּמָנְיָא תִּיקּוּנִין לְכֹהֲנָא רַבָּא), when the oil descends upon his beard (כַּד מִשְׁחָא נָחִית עַל דִּקְנֵיהּ), this is what is written: “like the precious oil… descending upon the beard, the beard of Aharon, descending upon the opening of his garments” (הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב כַּשֶּׁמֶן הַטּוֹב יוֹרֵד עַל הַזָּקָן זְקַן אַהֲרֹן שֶׁיּוֹרֵד עַל פִּי מִדּוֹתָיו) (Psalms 133:2). And from where do we know this? (וּמְנָא לָן), as it is written: “the dwelling of brothers also together” (דִּכְתִיב שֶׁבֶת אַחִים גַּם יָחַד) (Psalms 133:1). “Also” comes to include that the Kohen Gadol below serves in the high priesthood just as, כביכול, the supernal Kohen Gadol serves in the high priesthood (גַּם לְרַבּוֹת כֹּהֵן גָּדוֹל שֶׁל מַטָּה מְשַׁמֵּשׁ בִּכְהוּנָה גְדוֹלָה כִּבְיָכוֹל כֹּהֵן גָּדוֹל שֶׁל מַעְלָה מְשַׁמֵּשׁ בִּכְהוּנָה גְדוֹלָה). This is one Tikkun of the Dikna [Beard] of Atika hidden from all (דָּא תִּיקּוּנָא חַד דְדִיקְנָא דְעַתִּיקָא סְתִימָא דְכֹלָא). And Rabbi Yitzchak, peace be upon him, said (וְאָמַר רַבִּי יִצְחָק ע״ה): had Adam Kadmon not been, Heaven forbid, in these Tikkunim (אִלְמָלֵא [לֹא הָיָה] חַס וְשָׁלוֹם אָדָם קַדְמוֹן בְּאִילִין תִּיקּוּנִין), the upper and lower realms would not have existed (לָא אִשְׁתְּכָחוּ עִלָּאִין וְתַתָּאִין), the explanation is (פֵּירוּשׁ), there would have been no existence whatsoever for the Tikkunim of the three supernal heads (שֶׁלֹּא הָיָה מְצִיאוּת כְּלָל לְתִיקּוּנִים שֶׁל תְּלַת רֵישִׁין עִלָּאִין), and likewise there would not have been the Tikkunim of Ze’ir and his Nukvah, which are the lower realms (וְגַם לֹא הָיוּ הַתִּיקּוּנִים שֶׁל זְעֵיר וְנוּקְבֵיהּ שֶׁהֵן תַּתָּאִין). And afterward it says: “all would be as though they never were” (וְאָמַר אַחַר כָּךְ וְכֹלָא הֲוֵי כְּלָא הֲווּ), meaning (כְּלוֹמַר), not only would the Tikkunim [Rectifications] alone not exist, but even all the essences and vessels of the world of Atzilut would be as though they had never existed at all (לֹא מִבַּעְיָא שֶׁהַתִּיקּוּנִים בִּלְבַד לֹא הָיוּ נִמְצָאִים אֶלָּא אֲפִלּוּ כָּל עַצְמוּת וְכֵלִים שֶׁל עוֹלָם הָאֲצִילוּת כְּאִלּוּ לֹא הָיָה כְּלָל), if Adam Kadmon had not been rectified through these Tikkunim (אִי לָא אִתְתַּקַּן אָדָם קַדְמוֹן בְּאִלֵּין תִּיקּוּנִים). Because Adam Kadmon, after the breaking of the Nekudot [Points], was rectified from the Keter within the Nekudot [Points] (מִפְּנֵי שֶׁאָדָם קַדְמוֹן לְאַחַר שְׁבִירַת הַנְּקֻדּוֹת נִתְתַּקֵּן מִן כֶּתֶר שֶׁבַּנְּקֻדּוֹת), Keter in the expansion of Ein-Sof, as is known (כֶּתֶר בְּהִתְפַּשְּׁטוּת אֵין־סוֹף כַּנּוֹדָע), and it follows that the moisture of the light of the point of Keter itself illuminated within Adam Kadmon (וְנִמְצָא שֶׁלַּחְלוּחִית הָאוֹר נְקֻדַּת כֶּתֶר עַצְמוֹ הָיָה מֵאִיר בְּאָדָם קַדְמוֹן), and through its power the three heads and everything below them were rectified (וּמִכֹּחוֹ נִתְתַּקְּנוּ הַתְּלַת רֵישִׁין וְכָל הַשְּׁאָר שֶׁלְּמַטָּה מִמֶּנּוּ). And afterward it says: “and how radiant” (וְאָמַר אַחַר כָּךְ וְעַד כַּמָּה זְהִירִין), the explanation is “illuminating” (פֵּירוּשׁ מְאִירִין), “these Tikkunim of the Dikna [Beard]” of Adam Kadmon (אִלֵּין תִּיקּוּנִין דְדִיקְנָא שֶׁל אָדָם קַדְמוֹן). And afterward it says: “even the thirteen below” (וְאָמַר אַחַר כָּךְ עַד תְּלֵיסַר דִּלְתַתָּא), namely Ze’ir and his Nukvah (הַיְינוּ זְעֵיר וְנוּקְבֵיהּ). And the proof brought from the Baraita in the discourse is this which we introduced (וְהָרְאָיָה שֶׁהֵבִיא מִבָּרַיְיתָא בַּמַּאֲמָר הוּא זֶה מַה שֶּׁהִקְדַּמְנוּ), that all the vitality and strength of the Tikkunim [Rectifications] of the upper and lower realms come from him (שֶׁכָּל הַחַיּוּת וְהַחוֹזֶק שֶׁל הַתִּיקּוּנִין שֶׁל עִלָּאִין וְתַתָּאִין הוּא מִמֶּנּוּ). And afterward it says: “and whenever these thirteen are found, these radiances are found” (וְאָמַר אַחַר כָּךְ וְכָל זִמְנָא דִּתְלֵיסַר אִילֵּין מִשְׁתַּכְחִין זְהִירִין אִלֵּין), meaning (כְּלוֹמַר), whenever the thirteen Tikkunim of the three heads and of Ze’ir and his Nukvah are found in completeness (כָּל זְמַן שֶׁהַי״ג תִּיקּוּנִין שֶׁל הַתְּלַת רֵישִׁין וְשֶׁל זְעֵיר וְנוּקְבֵיהּ מִשְׁתַּכְחִין בִּשְׁלֵימוּ), namely that the lower ones improve their deeds and strengthen the power of the Tikkunim above (דְּהַיְינוּ שֶׁהַתַּחְתּוֹנִים מֵטִיבִים מַעֲשֵׂיהֶם וּמַגְבִּירִים כֹּחַ הַתִּיקּוּנִים שֶׁל מַעְלָה), then “these radiances” within the Malkhut of Adam Kadmon illuminate (אָז זְהִירִין אִלֵּין שֶׁבְּמַלְכוּת אָדָם קַדְמוֹן), because they are like Mayin Nukvin [Feminine Waters] to Adam Kadmon (מִפְּנֵי שֶׁהֵם כְּמוֹ מַיִן נוּקְבִין אֶל אָדָם קַדְמוֹן). And afterward it says: “all the number of these thirteen” (וְאָמַר אַחַר כָּךְ כָּלָא חוּשְׁבְּנָא דְאִילֵּין תְּלֵיסַר), meaning (רָצָה לוֹמַר), do not think that Adam Kadmon does not possess Thirteen Tikkunim like the others (אַל תַּחְשׁוֹב שֶׁאֵין לְאָדָם קַדְמוֹן י״ג תִּיקּוּנִים כְּמוֹ שֶׁיֵּשׁ לַאֲחֵרִים), rather everything is included within one Tikkun because of his complete unity (אֶלָּא הַכֹּל כָּלוּל בְּתִיקּוּן אֶחָד לְרוֹב אַחְדוּתוֹ הַגְּמוּרָה), for the thread of Ein Sof dwells within him (שֶׁחוּט אֵין סוֹף שָׁרוּי בְּתוֹכוֹ), to the extent that because of this his Tikkunim were not mentioned anywhere in the Orayta, as is written shortly afterward (עַד שֶׁמִּפְּנֵי כָךְ לֹא נִזְכְּרוּ תִּיקּוּנִים שֶׁלּוֹ בְּאוֹרַיְתָא בְּשׁוּם מָקוֹם כְּמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב בַּסָּמוּךְ לָזֶה). It says that this is not so (אוֹמֵר שֶׁאֵינוֹ כָּךְ), rather “the number of these thirteen” also exists within this Adam Kadmon (אֶלָּא חוּשְׁבְּנָא דְאִילֵּין תְּלֵיסַר יֵשׁ גַּם כֵּן בְּאָדָם קַדְמוֹן הַזֶּה). And afterward it says: “the Dikna [Beard] of the King is found” (וְאַחַר כָּךְ אָמַר אִשְׁתַּכַּח דִּיקְנָא דְמַלְכָּא), meaning (כְּלוֹמַר), from what we have said, we find and learn that the Dikna [Beard] of Adam Kadmon, called “the King” because it is his Malkhut, and Atika is called “the King” (מִמַּה שֶׁאָמַרְנוּ נִמְצָא אָנוּ לְמֵדִין דְּדִיקְנָא שֶׁל אָדָם קַדְמוֹן הַנִּקְרָא מַלְכָּא כִּי הִיא מַלְכוּת שֶׁלּוֹ וְעַתִּיקָא נִקְרָא מַלְכָּא). And afterward it says: “and what Dikna [Beard] is revealed? The Dikna [Beard] of the supernal Kohen Gadol” (וְאָמַר אַחַר כָּךְ וּמַה דִּיקְנָא דְאִתְגַּלְיָיא דִּיקְנָא דְכֹהֲנָא רַבָּא עִלָּאָה), namely the second Tikkunei Dikna [Rectifications of the Beard] of Arich (הַיְינוּ הַשֵּׁנִי תִּיקּוּנֵי דִּקְנָא דַאֲרִיךְ), meaning (כְּלוֹמַר), the two supernal heads within him (שְׁנֵי רֵישִׁין עִלָּאִין שֶׁבּוֹ), for the Dikna [Beard] of the Reisha DeLa Ityada [the Unknowable Head] is not revealed, as I explained in the previous chapters (דְּאִלּוּ דִּקְנָא שֶׁל רֵישָׁא דְלָא אִתְיְדַע לָא אִתְגַּלְיָיא כַּאֲשֶׁר בֵּאַרְתִּי בַּפְּרָקִים הַקּוֹדְמִים), because it is included within Adam Kadmon himself, for it is the Malkhut of Adam Kadmon, as is known (לְפִי שֶׁהוּא מִכְּלַל אָדָם קַדְמוֹן עַצְמוֹ שֶׁהֲרֵי הִיא מַלְכוּת שֶׁל אָדָם קַדְמוֹן כַּנּוֹדָע). And afterward it says: “and from this Dikna [Beard] it descends to the lower Kohen Gadol” (וְאָמַר אַחַר כָּךְ וּמֵהַאי דִּיקְנָא נָחִית לְכֹהֲנָא רַבָּא דִּלְתַתָּא), namely Ze’ir Anpin (הַיְינוּ זְעֵיר אַנְפִּין), meaning (כְּלוֹמַר), that he is troubled by the question: how do we call this Atika by the name Kohen Gadol, whereas until now we did not mention them regarding the Thirteen Tikkunim (שֶׁקָּשֶׁה לֵיהּ אֵיךְ אָנוּ מְכַנִּים לְעַתִּיקָא הַזֶּה בְּשֵׁם כֹּהֲנָא רַבָּא וְעַד הֵנָּה לֹא זְכַרְנוּם אֵצֶל הַי״ג תִּיקּוּנִים). And he answered what we said: “the Dikna [Beard] of the Kohen Gadol” (וְהֵשִׁיב מַה שֶּׁאָמַרְנוּ דִּיקְנָא דְכֹהֲנָא רַבָּא), the intention is not regarding the Dikna [Beard] that possesses Thirteen Tikkunim of which we have spoken until now (אֵין הַכַּוָּנָה עַל דִּקְנָא שֶׁיֵּשׁ בּוֹ י״ג תִּיקּוּנִים שֶׁדִּבַּרְנוּ מֵהֶם עַד הֵנָּה), for those Thirteen Tikkunim [Rectifications] within the aforementioned Dikna [Beard] are not called by the name Kohen Gadol (שֶׁאוֹתָם הַי״ג תִּיקּוּנִים שֶׁבְּדִיקְנָא הַנִּזְכָּרִים אֵינָם מְכֻוָּנִים בְּשֵׁם כֹּהֲנָא רַבָּא), rather the intention is regarding another Dikna [Beard] rectified in eight Tikkunim, besides the Thirteen Tikkunim mentioned above (אֶלָּא הַכַּוָּנָה עַל דִּיקְנָא אַחֵר דְאִתְתַּקַּן בִּתְמָנְיָא תִּיקּוּנִין מִלְּבַד הַי״ג תִּיקּוּנִים הַנִּזְכָּרִים לְמַעְלָה). For the Thirteen Tikkunim are in the hairs of the beard (לְפִי שֶׁהַי״ג תִּיקּוּנִים הֵם בִּשְׂעָרוֹת שֶׁל הַזָּקָן), whereas these eight Tikkunim are in the essence of the beard itself (וְאֵלּוּ תְּמָנְיָא תִּיקּוּנִים בְּעֶצֶם שֶׁל הַזָּקָן), and corresponding to them the lower Kohen Gadol possesses eight garments (וּכְנֶגְדָּן יֵשׁ לְכֹהֵן גָּדוֹל דִּלְתַתָּא שְׁמוֹנָה לְבוּשִׁים), and this is what it says afterward: “eight Tikkunim belong to the Kohen Gadol” (וְהַיְינוּ דְּקָאָמַר אַחַר כָּךְ תְּמָנְיָא תִּיקּוּנִין לְכֹהֲנָא רַבָּא), meaning (רְצוֹנִי לוֹמַר), the physical Kohen Gadol possesses eight kinds of priestly garments, each one being one Tikkun (לַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל הַגַּשְׁמִי יֵשׁ לוֹ שְׁמוֹנָה מִינֵי לְבוּשֵׁי כְהוּנָה שֶׁכָּל אֶחָד מֵהֶם הוּא תִּיקּוּן אֶחָד). And this corresponds to Ze’ir, who is the lower Kohen Gadol (וְהוּא דֻּגְמַת זְעֵיר שֶׁהוּא כֹּהֲנָא רַבָּא דִּלְתַתָּא), who also possesses eight, in addition to the Thirteen Tikkunim, like Atika (שֶׁיֵּשׁ לוֹ גַּם כֵּן שְׁמוֹנָה נוֹסָף עַל הַשְּׁלֹשָׁה עָשָׂר תִּיקּוּנִים כְּמוֹ עַתִּיקָא), except that they are not constant within him as they are within Atika, but only at the time when this Atika bestows upon him (אַךְ אֵינָם תְּדִירִים אֶצְלוֹ כְּמוֹ בְּעַתִּיקָא אֶלָּא בְּשָׁעָה שֶׁעַתִּיקָא הַזֶּה מַשְׁפִּיעַ אֵלָיו). And this occurs only at the time when the physical Kohen Gadol serves in the high priesthood in completeness (וְאֵין זֶה אֶלָּא בְּשָׁעָה שֶׁהַכֹּהֵן גָּדוֹל הַגַּשְׁמִי מְשַׁמֵּשׁ בִּכְהוּנָה גְדוֹלָה בִּשְׁלֵימוּ), and at the time when Israel increase in mitzvot and good deeds, which are Mayin Nukvin [Feminine Waters] arousing above to draw down the abundance from this Atika (וּבִזְמַן שֶׁיִּשְׂרָאֵל מַרְבִּין בְּמִצְוֹת וּבְמַעֲשִׂים טוֹבִים שֶׁהֵן מַיִן נוּקְבִין מְעוֹרְרִין לְמַעְלָה לְהוֹרִיד מֵעַתִּיקָא הַשֶּׁפַע). And the abundance comes to Ze’ir (וּבָאָה לִזְעֵיר), and from Ze’ir the abundance descends to the physical Kohen Gadol (וּמִן זְעֵיר יוֹרֶדֶת הַשֶּׁפַע לַכֹּהֵן גָּדוֹל הַגַּשְׁמִי). And it says: “this is what is written: ‘like the precious oil upon the head, descending upon the beard, the beard of Aharon, descending upon the opening of his garments’” (וְאָמַר הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב כַּשֶּׁמֶן הַטּוֹב עַל הָרֹאשׁ יוֹרֵד עַל הַזָּקָן זְקַן אַהֲרֹן שֶׁיּוֹרֵד עַל פִּי מִדּוֹתָיו) (Psalms 133:2). The intention of “like the precious oil upon the head” is (הַכַּוָּנָה כַּשֶּׁמֶן הַטּוֹב עַל הָרֹאשׁ), like the good abundance that is within Atika (כְּשֶׁפַע הַטּוֹב שֶׁהוּא בְּעַתִּיקָא), because it is designated by oil (לְפִי שֶׁהוּא מְכֻוָּנֶה בְּשֶׁמֶן), for oil is Chokhmah, which is Atika (לְפִי שֶׁשֶּׁמֶן הַיְינוּ חָכְמָה שֶׁהוּא עַתִּיקָא), descending upon the beard of Ze’ir (יוֹרֵד עַל הַזָּקָן שֶׁל זְעֵיר). And from Ze’ir it descends upon the beard of physical Aharon (וּמִן זְעֵיר יוֹרֵד עַל הַזָּקָן אַהֲרֹן הַגַּשְׁמִי), according to the measures of Ze’ir (עַל פִּי מִדּוֹתָיו שֶׁל זְעֵיר), meaning that just as Ze’ir is rectified in eight Tikkunim, so too is Aharon the Kohen Gadol (כְּלוֹמַר שֶׁמִּתְתַּקֵּן בִּתְמָנְיָא תִּיקּוּנִין כָּךְ הוּא אַהֲרֹן הַכֹּהֵן גָּדוֹל). And therefore it is resolved why it first wrote “the beard” and afterward repeated “the beard” (וְלָזֶה מְיוּשָּׁב לָמָּה כָּתַב הַזָּקָן וְאַחַר כָּךְ חָזַר וְאָמַר זָקָן). And afterward it says: and from where do we know that the first “beard” mentioned in the verse refers to the supernal Kohen Gadol, and “the beard of Aharon” refers to the physical Kohen Gadol? (וְאָמַר אַחַר כָּךְ וּמְנָלָן שֶׁהַזָּקָן הָרִאשׁוֹן שֶׁאוֹמֵר הַפָּסוּק קָאֵי עַל הַכֹּהֵן גָּדוֹל הָעֶלְיוֹן וּזְקַן אַהֲרֹן קָאֵי עַל הַכֹּהֵן גָּדוֹל הַגַּשְׁמִי), and when the Kohen Gadol below is in completeness, the Kohen Gadol above is likewise in completeness below (וּכְשֶׁכֹּהֵן גָּדוֹל לְמַטָּה בִּשְׁלֵימוּת כֹּהֵן גָּדוֹל שֶׁלְּמַעְלָה גַּם כֵּן בִּשְׁלֵימוּת [לְמַטָּה]). He brings proof from the verse: “the dwelling of brothers also together” (מֵבִיא רְאָיָה מִפָּסוּק שֶׁבֶת אַחִים גַּם יָחַד) (Psalms 133:1), “also” comes to include the Kohen Gadol below serving in the high priesthood (גַּם לְרַבּוֹת כֹּהֵן גָּדוֹל שֶׁלְּמַטָּה [הַ]מְשַׁמֵּשׁ בִּכְהוּנָה גְדוֹלָה), as if it were so, then the supernal Kohen Gadol has power to serve in the high priesthood (כִּבְיָכוֹל [אָז] יֵשׁ לוֹ כֹּחַ לְכֹהֵן גָּדוֹל שֶׁלְּמַעְלָה לְשַׁמֵּשׁ בִּכְהוּנָה גְדוֹלָה). This is one Tikkun of the Dikna [Beard] of Atika hidden from all (דָּא הוּא תִּיקּוּנִי חַד דְדִיקְנָא דְעַתִּיקָא סְתִימָא דְכֹלָא), coming from the Reisha DeEin [Head of Nothingness] (שֶׁבָּא מִן רֵישָׁא דְאֵין), and it is the Tikkun “Mi El Kamokha” [Who is a God like You] (וְהוּא תִּיקּוּן מִי אֵל כָּמוֹךָ). And this Tikkun was rectified through Rabbi Yitzchak, the disciple of Rashbi, may his soul rest in Gan Eden (וְהַתִּיקּוּן הַזֶּה נִתְתַּקֵּן עַל יְדֵי רַבִּי יִצְחָק תַּלְמִידוֹ שֶׁל הָרַשְׁבִּ״י נִשְׁמָתוֹ בְּגַן עֵדֶן), and he is Rabbi Yitzchak Arva’ah (וְהוּא רַבִּי יִצְחָק עַרְבָאָה), for Rashbi, the Holy Luminary, the Holy of Holies, became guarantor for him (שֶׁנַּעֲשָׂה הָרַשְׁבִּ״י קֹדֶשׁ קָדָשִׁים בוּצִינָא קַדִּישָׁא עָרֵב בַּעֲדוֹ), to bring him with him when he departed from the world in holiness and purity (לְהָבִיאוֹ עִמּוֹ כְּשֶׁיִּסְתַּלֵּק מִן הָעוֹלָם בִּקְדֻשָּׁה וּבְטָהֳרָה).
