Daf 1a (דַּף א׳ ע״א)

he author said (אָמַר הַמְחַבֵּר), Naftali, son of my master, my father (נַפְתָּלִי בֶּן לֹא״א), the great Rabbi Yaakov (מַהֲרַ״ר יַעֲקֹב), to the pleasant ones who love to hear the mysteries of the secret (הַנְּעִימִים הָאוֹהֲבִים לִשְׁמֹעַ רָזֵי סוֹד), that which the righteous merit after their passing (מַה שֶׁזּוֹכִים הַצַּדִּיקִים אַחַר מוֹתָם), from the many passages of the Book of the Zohar, the most profound (לְרֹב הַמַּאֲמָרִים מִן סֵפֶר הַזֹּהַר הַיּוֹתֵר חֲמוּרִים), this too I have taken to my heart (אַף זֹאת אָשִׁיב אֶל לִבִּי), for the road has become narrow before me (כִּי הַדֶּרֶךְ יָרֵט לְנֶגְדִּי), being so short (קָצָר כָּזֶה), therefore I shall gather from the delightful passages (לָכֵן אֲלַקֵּט בַּמַּאֲמָרִים הַנֶּחְמָדִים), forgive me, that I reveal the Furnace of the World (הַמְּחִילָה שֶׁאַגַּלֶּה כִּבְשׁוֹנוֹ שֶׁל עוֹלָם), in this my book (בְּסִפְרִי זֶה), That he should not think anything (שֶׁאַל יַחֲשֹׁב מִדֵּי) of an evil tongue (זַלְהַ״ר), for thought restrains (כִּי הַמַּחֲשָׁבָה מוֹנַעַת), and let him not stretch forth his hand to the Tree of Life (וְאַל יִשְׁלַח יָדוֹ בְּעֵץ הַחַיִּים), through separate portions (פַּרְשִׁיּוֹת), therefore I have called it "Gan HaMelekh [the Garden of the King]" (לָכֵן קְרָאתִיו גַּ״ן הַמֶּלֶךְ).
