Daf 68a (דַּף ס״ח ע״א)
But rather in confusion (כִּי אִם בְּעִרְבּוּבְיָא), and therefore they did not congeal (וְלָכֵן לֹא אִתְקְרִישׁוּ), meaning they did not freeze and did not settle into their proper arrangement (הַיְינוּ לֹא נִקְפְּאוּ וְלֹא נִתְיַשְּׁבוּ עַל מְתֻכּוּנָתָם), so as to make from them a joining into one very strong Yichud [Unification] (כְּדֵי לַעֲשׂוֹת מֵהֶם חִבּוּר לְיִחוּד אֶחָד חָזָק מְאֹד), rather they require another order (אֶלָּא הֵם צְרִיכִים סֵדֶר אַחֵר), and therefore they did not congeal (וְלָכֵן לֹא אִתְקְרִישׁוּ), and they were not in the order of the Alef-Bet (וְלֹא הָיוּ כְּסֵדֶר הָאַלְפָא בֵיתָא), and afterward seven others were created (וְאַחַ״כ נִתְבָּרְאוּ עוֹד שִׁבְעָה הָאֲחֵרִים), whose numerical value equals Chen [Grace] (שֶׁעוֹלִים כְּמִנְיַן ח״ן), which are Gimel-Heh, Vav-Zayin, Chet-Tet-Kaf (שֶׁהֵם ג״ה ו״ז חט״ך), which is one Havayah that equals the numerical value of Chen [Grace] (שֶׁהוּא הוי״ה אַחַת הָעוֹלָה כְּמִנְיַן ח״ן), as follows: Yod Heh Vav Heh (כָּזֶה יוֹד הה ויו הא), and it is the Chen [Grace] of the Zivug [Union] (וְהוּא הַחֵן שֶׁל הַזִּוּוּג), and every place where Noach [Rest] is stated, it is Yesod [Foundation] (וְכָל מָקוֹם שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר נֹחַ הוּא יְסוֹד), and in it is this Name (וּבוֹ הוּא הַשֵּׁם הַזֶּה), for since the Ohr [Light] was made from Even Kadmai [Primordial Stone] (כִּי כֵּיוָן שֶׁנַּעֲשָׂה הָאוֹר מִן אב״ן קדמ״י), it entered into Yesod [Foundation] (נִכְנַס בִּיסוֹד), to bring the Holy Seed within it (לִכְנוֹס בְּתוֹכוֹ הַזֶּרַע קֹדֶשׁ), to bestow the Ohr [Light] upon the Malkhut (לְהַשְׁפִּיעַ הָאוֹר לְמַלְכוּת), and afterward another eight were created (וְאַחַ״כ נִתְבָּרְאוּ עוֹד שְׁמוֹנָה), which are Samekh-Ayin, Peh-Tzadi, Lamed-Resh-Shin-Tav (שֶׁהֵם סע פץ לרשת), and they are all the twenty-two letters, not in their order (וְהֵם כָּל הכ״ב אוֹתִיּוֹת שֶׁלֹּא כְּסִדְרָן), and the other letters were not so much the Ohr [Light] of Chesed [Kindness] (וְהָאוֹתִיּוֹת הָאֲחֵרִים לֹא הָיוּ כָּל כָּךְ אוֹר חֶסֶד), but Judgment, which is Choshekh [Darkness] (אֶלָּא דִּין שֶׁהוּא חֹשֶׁךְ), which withholds Ohr [Light] from the wicked and removes it Above (שֶׁמּוֹנֵעַ אוֹר מֵרְשָׁעִים וּמְסַלְּקוֹ לְמַעְלָה), like the nature of Fire, whose nature is to ascend Above (כְּטֶבַע הָאֵשׁ שֶׁטִבְעוֹ לַעֲלוֹת לְמַעְלָה), to hide it away for the Tzaddikim [Righteous Ones] in the future (לִגְנוֹז אוֹתוֹ לַצַּדִּיקִים לֶעָתִיד לָבוֹא), as it is said, “And the Light of the wicked is withheld” (שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר וְיִמָּנַע מֵרְשָׁעִים אוֹרָם) (Job 38:15), therefore the Zohar says, “Afterward Choshekh [Darkness] emerged, and within it emerged seven other letters” (לָכֵן אוֹמֵר הַזֹּהַר נָפַק חֹשֶׁךְ לְבָתַר וְנָפְקוּ בֵּיהּ שֶׁבַע אַתְוָון אַחֲרָנִין), which is the Choshekh [Darkness] of Elohim that withholds the Ohr [Light] of Chesed [Kindness] from the world (שֶׁהוּא הַחֹשֶׁךְ שֶׁל אֱלֹהִים הַמּוֹנֵעַ מֵהָעוֹלָם הָאוֹר שֶׁל חֶסֶד), and these seven are Judgment (וְאֵלּוּ הַשֶּׁבַע הֵם דִּין), and afterward the other eight are complete Mercies (וְאַחַ״כ שְׁמוֹנָה הָאֲחֵרִים הֵם רַחֲמִים גְּמוּרִים). Then the Nekudah [Point] brought forth the six extremities (כַּדִּין הוֹצִיאָה הַנְּקוּדָּה שֵׁשׁ קְצָווֹת), which are the joining of the Torah written in the Tiferet of the World of Tohu (שֶׁהֵם חִבּוּר שֶׁל תּוֹרָה שֶׁנִּכְתַּב בְּת״ת שֶׁל עוֹלָם הַתֹּהוּ), called Rakia [Firmament] (הַנִּקְרָא רָקִיעַ), and the letters were joined in order (וְנִתְחַבְּרוּ הָאוֹתִיּוֹת כְּסֵדֶר), and to the two times seven, eight more letters were added (וְנִתּוֹסְפוּ בִּשְׁנֵי פְּעָמִים שִׁבְעָה עוֹד שְׁמוֹנֶה אוֹתִיּוֹת). For it is complete Mercy (כִּי הוּא רַחֲמִים גְּמוּרִים), and through Ze'ir Anpin, who is Mercy (וְעַל יְדֵי זְעֵיר שֶׁהוּא רַחֲמִים), and who is called Rakia [Firmament] (וְהוּא הַנִּקְרָא רָקִיעַ), another eight were added (נִתּוֹסְפוּ עוֹד שְׁמוֹנָה אֲחֵרִים), which were created through it as Mercies (שֶׁהֵם רַחֲמִים עַל יָדוֹ נִתְבָּרְאוּ), and this Rakia [Firmament] is the extension for Chesed [Kindness], Din [Judgment], and Rachamim [Mercy] (וְהָרָקִיעַ הַזֶּה הוּא הִתְפַּשְּׁטוּת לְחֶסֶד דִּין וּלְרַחֲמִים).
