Chapter 21, Section 2 (פֶּרֶק כ״א אוֹת ב׳)

2. And what is the gift? (ב. וּמָה דוֹרָן) Rabbi Yishma’el said (אָמַר רַבִּי יִשְׁמָעֵאל): Thus said Rabbi Nechunyah ben haKanah (כָּךְ אָמַר רַבִּי נְחוּנְיָא בֶּן הַקָּנָה): Rabbi, this gift that Domiya"l the prince takes before the chariot (רַבִּי, דוֹרָן זֶה שֶׁהָיָה דּוֹמִיא״ל הַשַּׂר תּוֹפֵס לִפְנֵי קָרוֹן), of that person who merits to ride the Merkavah (שֶׁל אוֹתוֹ הָאָדָם שֶׁזוֹכֶה וְיוֹרֵד לַמֶּרְכָּבָה), is not a gift of silver or gold (לֹא דוֹרוֹן שֶׁל כֶּסֶף אוֹ שֶׁל זָהָב), but rather that merit is given to that person (אֶלָּא שֶׁזוֹכִין לְאוֹתוֹ הָאָדָם), and they do not question him (וְלֹא הָיוּ שׁוֹאֲלִין אוֹתוֹ): not in the first Heikhal (לֹא בַּהֵיכָל הָרִאשׁוֹן), and not in the second Heikhal (וְלֹא בַּהֵיכָל הַשֵּׁנִי), and not in the third Heikhal (וְלֹא בַּהֵיכָל הַשְּׁלִישִׁי), and not in the fourth Heikhal (וְלֹא בַּהֵיכָל הָרְבִיעִי), and not in the fifth Heikhal (וְלֹא בַּהֵיכָל הַחֲמִישִׁי), and not in the sixth Heikhal (וְלֹא בַּהֵיכָל הַשִּׁשִּׁי), and not in the seventh Heikhal (וְלֹא בַּהֵיכָל הַשְּׁבִיעִי)-but he shows them his seal (אֶלָּא הוּא מַרְאֶה לָהֶם חוֹתָמוֹ), and they let him go and he enters (וְעוֹזְבִין אוֹתוֹ וְנִכְנָס).
