These here and these there, going up and going down as before On that southern side there are three hundred and fifty pillars, of all kinds of jewels And these are ever radiant, and they drip hidden perfumes which have never been revealed to the world

Four basins are fixed into every single pillar And when those perfumes drip from the pillars, they fall into them, and all the basins are filled, and no perfumes go outwards From these perfumes, they are prepared for the time to come, to crown the incense each day before the Holy King, not as the crushed ones of the sons of men These perfumes, their essence is not known, nor from what they were, but only from those pillars they fall there Two eagles upon each and every pillar, sparkling and flaming in all colors Seven hundred eagles - these fly, these here and these there, in the rotation of the pillars When they encircle, the eyes cannot gaze at the place where they are

Three letters shine and fly, from this mouth to that mouth, in the revolution of the pillars and the eagles All those letters embroidered in white fire and green gold Two thousand and one hundred candelabras hang between those pillars And two thousand and one hundred lamps in every Menorah They burn by day (דַּלְקִין בִּימָמָא), and at night they are extinguished, on account of the suffering of Yisrael (וּבְלֵילְיָא מִתְדַּעֲכֵי, עַל צַעֲרָא דְּיִשְׂרָאֵל). When the morning comes, they all ignite of themselves

As they were sitting, they said: Behold, the night has descended He said to Rabbi Shim‘on: O holy pious one, radiance of the world (אָמַר לֵיהּ לְרַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן, אִי חֲסִידָא קַדִּישָׁא, נְהִירוּ דְּעָלְמָא), take the writing tablet of this record and take the lamp, and write these words (טוֹל פִּנְקֵסָא דְּאַחְמָתָא דָּא, וְטוֹל שְׁרַגָא, וּכְתוֹב מִלִּין אִלֵּין). For the time has come for us to command each one to his grave (דְּהָא מָטָא זִמְנָא דִּילָן, לְפַקְדָּא כָּל חַד וְחַד לְגוֹ קִבְרֵיהּ), until midnight, when Kudsha Berikh Hu enters the garden to rejoice with the Righteous (עַד פָּלְגוּ לֵילְיָא, דְקוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא עָאל גּוֹ גִּנְתָּא לְאִשְׁתַּעְשְׁעָא בַּהֲדֵי צַדִּיקַיָּיא), and then each one flies there (וּכְדֵין כָּל חַד וְחַד פָּרַח לְתַמָן). And tomorrow we shall be with you, since permission was given to us to complete the gift they are sending to you

He flew, Rabbi Shim‘on wept and cried out He opened and said: “A loving hind and a graceful doe, let her breasts satisfy you at all times; with her love you shall be ravished always” (Proverbs 5)

Orayta, Orayta, radiance of all worlds (אוֹרַיְיתָא אוֹרַיְיתָא, נְהִירוּ דְּכָל עָלְמִין), how many days, and rivers, and sources, and springs spread from you to all sides (כַּמָה יָמִין, וּנְחָלִין, וּמְקוֹרִין, וּמַבּוּעִין, מִתְפַּשְּׁטֵי מִנָךְ לְכָל סִטְרִין). From you is all, upon you stand the supernal and lower beings The supernal radiance goes forth from you

Orayta, Orayta, what can I say of you? A loving hind are you, a graceful doe To the upper and lower, your loves Who is worthy to draw milk from you as is fitting? Orayta, Orayta, the delight of your Master (אוֹרַיְיתָא אוֹרַיְיתָא, שַׁעֲשׁוּעִים דְּמָארָךְ), who is able to reveal and to speak your secrets and your hidden treasures? He wept, and placed his head between his knees, and kissed the earth

Meanwhile he saw many images of his friends surrounding him He said to him: Do not fear, son of Yochai, do not fear, Holy Luminary Write and rejoice in the joy of your Master He wrote all those words which he heard that night (כָּתַב כָּל אִינּוּן מִלִּין דְּשָׁמַע בְּהַהוּא לֵילְיָא), and he murmured them, and repeated them, and did not forget a word (וְלָעָא לוֹן, וְלָהַג לוֹן, וְלָא אַנְשֵׁי מִלָּה). And that lamp shone before him the whole night until morning came

When the morning came, he lifted his eyes and saw one radiance shining in the firmament He lowered his eyes to the earth He returned as before, and saw radiance throughout the firmament (אַהְדָּר כְּמִלְקַדְּמִין, וְחָמָא נְהִירוּ בְּכָל רְקִיעָא), shining and ascending in that radiance, the likeness of the house, in many designs (דְּנָהִיר וְסָלִיק בְּהַהוּא נְהִירוּ דִּיּוּקְנָא דְּבֵיתָא, בְּכַמָּה צִיּוּרִין). Rabbi Shim‘on rejoiced (חֲדָא רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן), and in that moment that radiance was hidden (וּלְפוּם רִגְעָא, אַגְנִיז הַהוּא נְהוֹרָא). Meanwhile, behold, those two messengers came They found him with his head between his knees They said to him: Peace upon you, Master, peace to the one whom the supernal and lower beings desire to greet with peace

Rabbi Shim‘on arose and rejoiced with them They said to him: Did you not see the rest of spirit which your Master made for you, you saw the radiance of the house in the firmament? He said to them: I saw They said to him: At that moment the depth was brought forth in the Mikdash (אָמְרוּ לֵיהּ בֵּיהּ שַׁעֲתָא, אַפִּיק תְּהוֹמָא בֵּי מַקְדְּשָׁא), and Kudsha Berikh Hu brought it across into the great sea (וְאַעְבְּרֵיהּ קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא בְּיַמָּא רַבָּא). And from its radiance the firmament shone They said to him: The Head of the Academy seeks your peace, and behold, he knows that we are messengers to you And how many new, ancient words have been renewed in Orayta this night He said to them: Please, from you, say one word from them They said: Permission has not been given to us for what we have come to you, but one new word has now come to you
