And I found in it all those actions and services of the stars and constellations (וְאַשְׁכַּחְנָא בֵּיהּ כָּל אִנּוּן עוֹבָדִין וּפוּלְחָנִין דְּכֹוכְבַיָּא וּמַזָּלֵי), and the matters that are required for them (וּמִלִּין דְּאִצְטְרִיכוּ לוֹן), and how the will is to be directed in them (וְהֵיאַךְ רְעוּתָא לְאִתְכַּוְּונָא בְּהוּ), in order to draw them toward themselves (בְּגִין לְאַמְשָׁכָא לוֹן לְגַבַּיְיהוּ). In this manner: one who desires to cleave above to the holy spirit (כְּגַוְונָא דָּא: מַאן דְּבָעֵי לְאִתְדַּבְּקָא לְעֵילָא בְּרוּחַ קוּדְשָׁא), behold-it is by action, and by words, and by desire of the heart, to be directed toward that matter (דְּהָא בְּעוֹבָדָא וּבְמִלִּין וּבִרְעוּתָא דְּלִבָּא לְכַוְּונָא בְּהַהִיא מִלָּה), for the matter depends upon that-to draw it upon oneself from above to below, and to cleave to that matter (תַּלְיָיא מִלְּתָא לְאַמְשָׁכָא לֵיהּ לְגַבֵּיהּ מֵעֵילָא לְתַתָּא, וּלְאִתְדַּבְּקָא בְּהַהִיא מִלָּה). And they said: Just as a person is drawn in this world, so too is he drawn when he departs this world And in what he cleaved to in this world and was drawn after, so he cleaves in that world If in holiness, then in holiness And if in defilement-then in defilement If in holiness, they draw him toward that Side and he cleaves above (אִי בִּקְדוּשָׁא, מָשְׁכִין לֵיהּ לְגַבֵּי הַהוּא סִטְרָא וְאִתְדַּבַּק בֵּיהּ לְעֵילָא), and he becomes a ministering messenger, to serve before Kudsha Berikh Hu among the other angels (וְאִתְעֲבִיד מְמַנָּא שַׁמָּשָׁא לְשַׁמָּשָׁא קַמֵּי קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא בֵּין אִנּוּן שְׁאָר מַלְאָכִין), as he cleaved above and stood among the holy ones (כְּמָה דְּהָכִי אִתְדַּבַּק לְעֵילָא וְקָאֵים בֵּין אִנּוּן קַדִּישִׁין), as it is written: (Zechariah 3) “And I will grant you strides among these who stand here” (דִּכְתִּיב: וְנָתַתִּי לְךָ מַהְלְכִים בֵּין הָעוֹמְדִים הָאֵלֶּה).

So too, in this manner (הָכִי נָמֵי כְּגַוְונָא דָּא): If in defilement, they draw him toward that Side (אִי בִּמְסָאֲבָא, מָשְׁכִין לֵיהּ לְגַבֵּי הַהוּא סִטְרָא), and he becomes like one of them-to cleave to them (וְאִתְעֲבִיד כְּחַד מִנַּיְיהוּ לְאִתְדַּבְּקָא בְּהוּ), and these are called the destroyers of humanity (וְאִנּוּן אִקְרוּן נִזְקֵי בְּנֵי נְשָׁא). And at that moment when he departs from this world (וּבְהַהִיא שַׁעֲתָא דְּנָפִיק מֵהַאי עָלְמָא), they take him and draw him into Gehinnom (נָטְלִין לֵיהּ וְשָׁאֲבִין לֵיהּ בַּגֵּיהִנֹּם), to that place where judgment is rendered upon the defiled ones-who defiled their bodies and their spirits (בְּהַהוּא אֲתַר דְּדַּיְינֵי לוֹן לִבְנֵי מְסָאֲבָא דְּסָאִיבוּ גַּרְמַיְיהוּ וְרוּחַיְיהוּ), and afterward he cleaves to them (וּלְבָתַר אִתְדַּבַּק בְּהוּ). And he becomes a destroyer (וְאִיהוּ נִזְקָא), like one of those destroyers of the world (כְּחַד מֵאִנּוּן נִזְקֵי דְּעָלְמָא).
