Come and see: from the arousal (תָּא חֲזֵי מֵאִתְעֲרוּתָא) of that supernal oil stands prepared to pour upon David and Shlomo to bring blessing upon his children (דְּהַאי שֶׁמֶן דִּלְעֵילָא קָאי לְאֲרָקָא עַל דָּוִד וּשְׁלֹמֹה לְאִתְבָּרְכָא בְּנוֹי). From where do we learn this? For it is written: “And the oil stood” (2 Kings 4) It is written here “stood,” and it is written there: “A root of Yishai that stands as a banner for the peoples” (Isaiah 11)
Come and see: From the Table of the Showbread blessings emerge from there and sustenance to the world It must never be found empty, not even for one moment, so that blessings are not removed from there Likewise, one does not bless upon an empty table, for blessings from above do not rest upon an empty table
Come and see what is written: “I am for my Beloved and His desire is upon me” (Shir haShirim 7) “I am for my Beloved” comes first, and afterward “His desire is upon me” (אֲנִי לְדוֹדִי בְּקַדְמִיתָא וּלְבָתַר וְעָלַי תְּשׁוּקָתוֹ). I am for my Beloved-to prepare a place for Him first (אֲנִי לְדוֹדִי לְאַתְקָנָא לֵיהּ דּוּכְתָּא בְּקַדְמִיתָא), and afterward “His desire is upon me.” (וְעָלַי תְּשׁוּקָתוֹ לְבָתַר), another explanation, “I am for my beloved” (דָּבָר אַחֵר אֲנִי לְדוֹדִי), for we have learned that the Shekhinta is not found with the wicked (דְּהָא תָּנִינָן שְׁכִינְתָּא לָא אִשְׁתַּכְּחַת עִמְהוֹן דְּחַיָּיבַיָא), once a person comes to purify himself and to draw near to Kudsha Berikh Hu (כֵּיוָן דְּאָתֵי בַּר נָשׁ לְאִתְדַּכָּאָה וּלְמִקְרַב גַּבֵּי דְקוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא), then the Shekhinta dwells upon him (כְּדֵין שְׁכִינְתָּא שַׁרְיָא עֲלֵיהּ). This is what is written: “I am for my Beloved”-first, and then “His desire is upon me” (הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב אֲנִי לְדוֹדִי בְּקַדְמִיתָא, וְעָלַי תְּשׁוּקָתוֹ לְבָתַר). When a person comes to purify, they purify him
Come and see: “After these things,” when Avraham pursued after those kings and Kudsha Berikh Hu struck them down, Avraham was bewildered He said: “Perhaps, Heaven forbid, I have diminished the reward that I had accumulated by bringing people back to Kudsha Berikh Hu, and I seized them to battle for His sake-and now people have been killed through me” (אָמַר: דִּילְמָא חַס וְשָׁלוֹם גָּרַעֲנָא הַהוּא אַגְרָא דַּהֲוֵינָא אַהֲדַר בְּנֵי נָשָׁא לְגַבֵּי קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא, וְאַחִידְנָא בְּהוּ לְקָרָבָא לוֹן לְגַבֵּיהּ, וְהַשְׁתָּא אִתְקְטִילוּ בְּנֵי נְשָׁא עַל יָדִי). Immediately Kudsha Berikh Hu said to him: “Do not fear, Avram, I am your shield; your reward is very great” (Bereshit 15) The reward was accepted on their behalf, for none of them will ever merit it
