Daf 125a (דַּף קכ״ה ע״א)
Come and see (תָּא חֲזֵי), this “Na’ar” [Youth] (הַאי נַעַר) has nothing of his own essence (לֵית לֵיהּ מִגַרְמֵיהּ כְּלוּם), except when he receives blessings at known times (בַּר כַּד נָטִיל בִּרְכָּאן לְזִמְנִין יְדִיעָן). And whenever they are withheld from him (וְכָל זִמְנִין דְּאִתְמְנָעוּ מִנֵּיהּ), the moon is blemished and darkened (וְאִתְפְּגִים סִיהֲרָא וְאִתְחֲשַׁךְ), and the blessings are withheld from him (וּבִרְכָּאן אִתְמְנָעוּ מִנֵּיהּ), and woe to the world which must be nourished at that time (וַוַי לְעָלְמָא דְּאִצְטְרִיךְ לִינָקָא בְּהַהִיא שַׁעְתָּא). And moreover, with many judgments this world is judged before it is nourished from him (וְעוֹד בְּכַמָּה דִּינִין אִתְדָּן הַאי עָלְמָא עַד לָא יָנְקָא מִנֵּיהּ), for everything is maintained and activated through judgment (דְּכוֹלָּא בְּדִינָא אִתְקַיָּים וְאִתְעֲבַד), and this has been established (וְאוּקְמוּהָ הֲכִי).
Come and see (תָּא חֲזֵי): “And Sarah died in Kiryat Arba” (וַתָּמָת שָׂרָה בְּקִרְיַת אַרְבַּע). This is a secret (רָזָא אִיהוּ), for her death was not by the hand of that crooked serpent (בְּגִין דְּלָא הֲוָה מִיתָתָהּ עַל יְדָא דְּהַהוּא נָחָשׁ עֲקִימָאָה), and he did not rule over her like the rest of the people of the world (וְלָא שָׁלַט בָּהּ כִּשְׁאָר בְּנֵי עָלְמָא דְּאִיהוּ שַׁלִּיט בְּהוּ). And by his hand people of the world died from the day that Adam caused it (וְעַל יָדֵיהּ מֵתוּ בְּנֵי עָלְמָא מִיּוֹמָא דְּגָרִים לוֹן אָדָם), except Mosheh, Aharon, and Miryam, as it is written of them: “by the mouth of Hashem” (בַּר מֹשֶׁ״ה וְאַהֲרֹ״ן וּמִרְיָ״ם דִּכְתִיב בְּהוּ עַל פִּי יְיָ). And because of the honor of the Shekhinta, it is not written of Miryam “by the mouth of Hashem” (וּבְגִין יְקָרָא דִּשְׁכִינְתָּא לָא כְּתִיב בְּמִרְיָם עַל פִּי יְיָ). But with Sarah it is written: “in Kiryat Arba” (אֲבָל בְּשָׂרָה כְּתִיב בְּקִרְיַת אַרְבַּע), a secret of “Kiryat Arba” in a supernal secret (רָזָא דְּקִרְיַת אַרְבַּע בְּרָזָא עִלָּאָה), and not by any other hand (וְלָא עַל יְדָא אָחֳרָא). “In Kiryat Arba,” and not by the serpent (בְּקִרְיַת אַרְבַּע, וְלֹא בְּנָחָשׁ). “Kiryat Arba”-it is Chevron, where King David united with the patriarchs (בְּקִרְיַת אַרְבַּע הִיא חֶבְרוֹן, דְּאִתְחַבַּר דָּוִד מַלְכָּא בַּאֲבָהָן), and therefore her death was not by another hand, but in Kiryat Arba (וְעַל דָּא לָא הֲוָה מִיתָתָהּ בִּידָא אָחֳרָא, אֶלָּא בְּקִרְיַת אַרְבַּע).
Come and see (תָּא חֲזֵי), when the days of a woman are fulfilled in supernal rungs (כַּד יוֹמִין דְּבַר נָשׁ אִתְקַיְּימוּ בְּדַרְגִּין עִלָּאִין), then a man is fulfilled in the world (אִתְקַיָּים בַּר נָשׁ בְּעָלְמָא). Once they are no longer fulfilled in the supernal rungs (כֵּיוָן דְּלָא אִתְקַיְּים בְּדַרְגִּין עִלָּאִין), they go out and descend below (נָפְקֵי וְנָחֲתֵי לְתַתָּא), until they reach this rung where death resides (עַד דִּקְרִיבוּ לְהַאי דַּרְגָּא דְּמוֹתָא שַׁרְיָא בֵּיהּ), and then permission is given to extract the Neshamah (וּכְדֵין נָטִיל רְשׁוּ לְאַפִּיק נִשְׁמָתָא), and the world is shaken in that moment (וְטָאַס עַלְמָא בְּזִמְנָא חָדָא), and he takes the Neshamah and leaves defilement in the body (וְנָטִיל נִשְׁמָתָא וְסָאִיב לֵיהּ לְגוּפָא), and filth remains (וְאִשְׁתָּאַר מְסָאֲבָא). Blessed are the Righteous who were not defiled (זַכָּאִין אִינוּן צַדִּיקַיָּא דְּלָא אִסְתָּאֲבוּ), and in whom no defilement remains (וְלָא אִשְׁתָּאַר בְּהוּ מְסָאֲבוּתָא). And come and see (וְתָא חֲזֵי), in the midst of the firmament, a single narrow path was bound. (בְּאֶמְצָעוּת דִּרְקִיעָא אִתְקַטַּר חַד אוֹרְחָא קַסְטְרִירָא), and it is the serpent of the firmament (וְאִיהוּ חִוְיָא דִּרְקִיעָא), in which all the thin stars are bound (דְּכָל כּוֹכָבִין דַּקִּיקִין כֻּלְּהוּ קְטִירִין בֵּיהּ), and multitudes upon multitudes stand in it (וְקָיְימֵי בֵּיהּ תִּלֵּי תִּלִּין), and they are appointed in secret (וְאִינוּן מְמַנָּן בִּסְתִּירוּ), Some say: in concealment (נ״א: בְּסְטִירוּ), over the actions of humankind (עוֹבָדֵי בְּנֵי עָלְמָא).
