And for this reason, this field is from that doubling in which it dwells In this configuration it is written: “As the fragrance of a field that Hashem has blessed” - above and below And because of this: “the field of Machpelah,” certainly (וּבְגִין כָּךְ: שְׂדֵה הַמַּכְפֵּלָה וַדַּאי), and not “a doubled field” (וְלָא שָׂדֶה כָּפוּל). Further, The secret of the matter: the field of Machpelah - indeed (תוּ רָזָא דְּמִלָּה: שְׂדֵה הַמַּכְפֵּלָה וַדַּאי): what is Machpelah? It is the Heh from the Holy Name - she is Machpelah And everything exists as one, and for her sake it is spoken in concealed manner: Heh Machpelah (וְכֹלָּא קָיְימָא כְּחַד, וּבְגִינֵיהּ קָאֲמַר בְּאוֹרַח סָתִים: ה' מַכְפֵּלָה), for if it were not in the Holy Name, another letter would be Machpelah, not she (דְּלָא הֲוֵי בִּשְׁמָא קַדִּישָׁא, אָת אָחֳרָא מַכְפֵּלָה בַּר אִיהִי). And even though the cave is in truth doubled - for it is a cave within a cave But for another reason it is called “the cave of the field of Machpelah,” as has been stated And Avraham knew, and when he spoke to Benei Chet, he concealed the matter and said: “Let him give me the cave of Machpelah” (וְאַבְרָהָם יָדַע, וְכַד אָמַר לִבְנֵי חֵת כַּסֵּי מִלָּה וְאָמַר: וְיִתֶּן לִי אֶת מְעָרַת הַמַּכְפֵּלָה), because it is a cave that is doubled (עַל שׁוּם דְּאִיהִי מְעַרְתָּא כָּפֶלְתָּא). But the Orayta only calls it “the cave of the field of Machpelah” - as is proper And Kudsha Berikh Hu made everything to be found in this world as the pattern of the world above (וְקוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא עָבַד כֹּלָּא לְאִשְׁתַּכָּחָא הַאי עַלְמָא כְּגַוְונָא דִּלְעֵילָא), and for this one to be joined to that one, to make His glory be above and below (וּלְאִתְדַּבָּקָא דָּא בְּדָא, לְמֶהֱוֵי יְקָרֵיהּ לְעֵילָא וְתַתָּא). Blessed is the portion of the Righteous, in whom Kudsha Berikh Hu delights in this world and in the world to come
And Avraham was old, advanced in days, and Hashem blessed Avraham in all Rabbi Yehudah opened (רַבִּי יְהוּדָה פָּתַח): Happy is the one You choose and bring near, he shall dwell in Your courtyards (Psalms 65) (אַשְׁרֵי תִּבְחַר וּתְקָרֵב יִשְׁכֹּן חֲצֵרֶיךָ), this verse has already been stated (הַאי קְרָא אִתְּמָר), but fortunate is the man whose ways are bound before Kudsha Berikh Hu (אֲבָל זַכָּאָה הוּא בַּר נָשׁ דְּאוֹרְחוֹי אִתְכַּשְׁרָן קַמֵּי קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא), and he is desired by Him to be brought close to Him (וְאִיהוּ אִתְרָעֵי בֵּיהּ לְקָרָבָא לֵיהּ לְגַבֵּיהּ).
Come and see (תָּא חֲזֵי), Avraham was brought near to Him (אַבְרָהָם אִתְקְרִיב לְגַבֵּיהּ), and his desire was all his days upon this (וְתִאוּבְתֵּיהּ דִּילֵיהּ הֲוָה כָּל יוֹמוֹי בְּהַאי), and Avraham was not brought near in one day or in one moment (וְלָא אִתְקְרִיב אַבְרָהָם בְּיוֹמָא חָדָא אוֹ בְּזִמְנָא חָדָא), rather his deeds brought him near all his days (אֶלָּא עוֹבָדוֹי קְרִיבוּ לֵיהּ בְּכָל יוֹמוֹי), from level to level (מִדַּרְגָּא לְדַרְגָּא), until he was elevated in his level (עַד דְּאִסְתַּלַק בְּדַרְגּוֹי).
When he had aged and ascended into supernal levels (כַּד הֲוָה סִיב וְעָאל בְּדַרְגִּין עִלָּאִין), as is fitting, it is written (כְּדְקָא חָזֵי דִּכְתִיב): And Avraham was old (וְאַבְרָהָם זָקֵן), and then advanced in days (וּכְדֵין בָּא בַּיָּמִים), in those supernal days (בְּאִינוּן יוֹמִין עִלָּאִין), in those days known in the secret of faith (בְּאִינוּן יוֹמִין יְדִיעָאן בְּרָזָא דִמְהֵימְנוּתָא). And Hashem blessed Avraham in all (וַיְיָ בֵּרַךְ אֶת אַבְרָהָם בַּכֹּל), for from there issue all blessings and all goodness (דְּמִתַּמָּן נָפְקִין כָּל בִּרְכָאן וְכָל טִיבוּ).
