Daf 136a (דַּף קַל״ו ע״א)
Come and see (תָּא חֲזֵי), it is written (2 Samuel 23): “And Benayahu son of Yehoyada, son of a living man” (כְּתִיב: וּבְנָיָהוּ בֶן יְהוֹיָדָע בֶּן אִישׁ חַי), a righteous one who illumined his generation (דְּהֲוָה צַדִּיק וְנָהִיר לְדָרֵיהּ), just as the Living One above illumines the world (כְּמָה דְּחַי דִּלְעֵילָא נָהִיר לְעַלְמָא). And at all times (וּבְכָל זִמְנָא), this Be’er Lachai looked and beheld (הַאי בְּאֵר לַחַי אִסְתַּכַּל וְחָמֵי), in order to be illumined, as we have said (בְּגִין לְאִתְנַהֲרָא כִּדְקָאֲמָרָן). “And Yitzchak dwelled with Be’er Lachai Ro’i” (וַיֵּשֶׁב יִצְחָק עִם בְּאֵר לַחַי רֹאִי). That is what is written (הַיְינוּ דִּכְתִיב), (Bereshit 25): “when he took Rivkah” (בְּקַחְתּוֹ אֶת רִבְקָה), and he dwelled with her (וְיָתִיב בַּהֲדָהּ), and was joined with her (וְאִתְאֲחִיד עִמָּהּ), the darkness of night (חָשֶׁךְ בַּלַּיְלָה), as it is written (Song of Songs 2): “His left hand is under my head” (שְׂמֹאלוֹ תַּחַת לְרֹאשִׁי). And come and see (וְתָא חֲזֵי), Yitzchak was in Kiryat Arba after the death of Avraham (יִצְחָק בְּקִרְיַת אַרְבַּע הֲוָה בָּתַר דְּמִית אַבְרָהָם), what is “[and] Yitzchak dwelled with Be’er Lachai Ro’i”? (מַהוּ וַיֵּשֶׁב יִצְחָק עִם בְּאֵר לַחַי רֹאִי) That he was joined in it (דְּאִזְדַּוַּוג בֵּיהּ), and held to that well (וְאָחִיד בֵּיהּ בְּהַהוּא בֵּירָא), to awaken affection as we said (לְאַתְעָרָא רְחִימוּתָא כִּדְקָאֲמָרָן).
Rabbi Yitzchak opened and said (פָּתַח רִבִּי יִצְחָק וְאָמַר), (Ecclesiastes 1): “The sun rises and the sun sets, and to its place it hastens, where it rises again” (וְזָרַח הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ וּבָא הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ וְאֶל מְקוֹמוֹ שׁוֹאֵף זוֹרֵחַ הוּא שָׁם). “The sun rises”-this is the Shimsha that illumines the Moon (וְזָרַח הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ, דָּא שִׁמְשָׁא דְּנָהִיר לְסִיהֲרָא), that when it appears with her, then she is illumined (דְּכַד אִתְחֲזֵי בַּהֲדָהּ, כְּדֵין נָהֲרָא), and shines forth (וְאִתְנְהִיר), and shines from that supernal place upon which it stands (וְזָרַח מֵאֲתַר עִלָּאָה דְּקָיְימָא עֲלֵיהּ), from there it shines always (מִתַּמָּן זָרַח תָּדִיר). “And the sun sets”-to unite with the moon (וּבָא הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ, לְאִזְדַּוְּוגָא בַּהֲדָהּ דְּסִיהֲרָא). (Ecclesiastes 1): “It goes toward the south”-this is the right side (הוֹלֵךְ אֶל דָּרוֹם, דְּאִיהוּ יְמִינָא), and sets its strength within her (וְשַׁוֵּי תּוּקְפֵיהּ בֵּיהּ), and because its strength is in her (וּבְגִין דְּתוּקְפֵיהּ בֵּיהּ), all the power of the body is in the right side (כָּל חֵילָא דְּגוּפָא בִּימִינָא הוּא), and depends on it (וּבֵיהּ תַּלְיָא). “And turns around to the north”-illumining to this side and to that side (וּלְבָתַר סוֹבֵב אֶל צָפוֹן, נָהִיר לְסִטְרָא דָא וְנָהִיר לְסִטְרָא דָא). “Round and round goes the wind”-at first it is written shemesh, now ruaḥ (סוֹבֵב סוֹבֵב הוֹלֵךְ הָרוּחַ, בְּקַדְמִיתָא כְּתִיב שֶׁמֶשׁ, וְהַשְׁתָּא רוּחַ). But all is one, and one secret (אֶלָּא כֹּלָּא חַד וְרָזָא חָדָא), and all of this is so the moon may be illumined by it (וְכָל דָּא בְּגִין דְּסִיהֲרָא אִתְנָהֲרָא מִנֵּיהּ), and that they be joined together (וְיִתְחַבְּרוּן תַּרְוַויְיהוּ).
Come and see (תָּא חֲזֵי), when Avraham came into the world (כַּד אֲתָא אַבְרָהָם לְעַלְמָא), he embraced the Moon and drew close to her (חֲבִיק לָהּ לְסִיהֲרָא וְקָרִיב לָהּ). When Yitzchak came (כֵּיוָן דְּאֲתָא יִצְחָק), he held her and prevailed in her as was proper (אָחִיד בָּהּ וְאַתְקִיף בָּהּ כְּדְקָא יְאוּת), and drew her in with Reḥimuta (וּמָשִׁיךְ לָהּ בִּרְחִימוּ), as it is said (כְּמָה דְּאִתְּמָר), as it is written (Song of Songs 2): “His left hand is under my head” (שְׂמֹאלוֹ תַּחַת לְרֹאשִׁי). When Ya'akov came (כֵּיוָן דְּאֲתָא יַעֲקֹב), then the sun cleaved to the moon and it was illumined (כְּדֵין אִתְחַבַּר שִׁמְשָׁא בְּסִיהֲרָא וְאִתְנְהִיר), and Ya'akov was found to be whole in all directions (וְאִשְׁתַּכַּח יַעֲקֹב שְׁלִים בְּכָל סִטְרִין), and the Moon was illumined and completed through the twelve tribes (וְסִיהֲרָא אִתְנְהִירַת וְאִתְתַּקָּנַת בִּתְרֵיסַר שִׁבְטִין).
