Daf 156b (דַּף קנ״ו ע״ב)
Further, this supernal light extended (תוּ, אִתְפַּשַּׁט הַאי נְהוֹרָא עִילָּאָה), and formed an artisan (וְעָבִיד אוּמָנָא), a light that does not shine (נְהוֹרָא דְּלָא נָהִיר), and made the lower world (וְעָבִיד עַלְמָא תַּתָּאָה). And because it is a light that does not shine (וּבְגִין דְּאִיהוּ נְהוֹרָא דְּלָא נָהִיר), it seeks to be bound above (בָּעֵי לְאִתְקַשְּׁרָא לְעֵילָא), it seeks to be bound below (בָּעֵי לְאִתְקַשְּׁרָא לְתַתָּא), and through the bond below (וּבְקִשּׁוּרָא דִּלְתַּתָּא), it becomes connected to be illumined through the bond above (אִתְקַשַּׁר לְאִתְנְהָרָא בְּקִשּׁוּרָא דִּלְעֵילָא). And this light that does not shine (וְהַאי נְהוֹרָא דְּלָא נָהִיר), through the bond above (בְּקִשּׁוּרָא דִּלְעֵילָא), brought forth all the forces and camps into many species (אַפִּיק כָּל חֵילִין וּמַשִּׁרְיָין לְזִינִין סַגִּיאִין). This is what is written: “How manifold are Your works, Hashem, You made them all in wisdom…” (הֲדָא הוּא דִּכְתִּיב: מָה רַבּוּ מַעֲשֶׂיךָ יי כֻּלָּם בְּחָכְמָה עָשִׂיתָ) (Tehillim 104). And everything that is on earth is so also above (וְכָל מַה דִּי בְאַרְעָא, הָכִי נָמֵי לְעֵילָא). And there is no small thing in this world (וְלֵית לָךְ מִלָּה זְעֵירָא בְּהַאי עָלְמָא), that is not dependent on another supernal thing which is appointed over it above (דְּלָא תַלְיָיא בְּמִלָּה אָחֳרָא עִילָּאָה דְּאִתְפַּקְּדָא עֲלֵיהּ לְעֵילָא). For when this is aroused below (בְּגִין דְּכַד אִתְעַר הַאי לְתַתָּא), that which is appointed above over it is aroused (אִתְעַר הַהוּא דְּאִתְפַּקְּדָא עֲלֵיהּ לְעֵילָא), for all is unified, this with that (דְּכֹּלָּא אִתְאַחַד דָּא בְּדָא).
Come and see: it is written, “Please give me of your son’s duda’im” (תָּא חֲזֵי, כְּתִיב: תְּנִי נָא לִי מִדּוּדָאֵי בְּנֵךְ) (Bereishit 30). It was not the duda’im that caused Rachel to conceive (לָאו דּוּדָאִים אוֹלִידוּ לָהּ לְרָחֵל), but Kudsha Berikh Hu caused the matter to revolve through those duda’im (אֶלָּא קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא קָא גִּלְגֵּל מִלָּה עַל יְדֵי דְּאִינוּן דּוּדָאִים), so that Yissakhar would emerge (בְּגִין דְּיִפּוּק יִשָּׂשכָר), who held to the Orayta more than all the other tribes (דְּאָחִיד בְּאוֹרַיְּיתָא יַתִּיר מִכֻּלְּהוּ שִׁבְטִין). Because Rachel was bound to Ya'akov (בְּגִין דְּהָא רָחֵל אֲחִידָא בֵּיהּ בְּיַעֲקֹב), she would not permit him to be with Leah (לָא שַׁבְקַת לֵיהּ לְגַבֵּי לֵאָה). This is what is written: “Is it a small matter that you have taken my husband?” (הֲדָא הוּא דִּכְתִּיב: הַמְעַט קַחְתֵּךְ אֶת אִישִׁי), and it is written: “Therefore he shall lie with you tonight in exchange for your son’s duda’im” (וּכְתִיב: לָכֵן יִשְׁכַּב עִמָּךְ הַלַּיְלָה תַּחַת דּוּדָאֵי בְּנֵךְ). It was they who caused Yissakhar to come into the world (אִינוּן גָּרְמוּ דְּיִפּוּק יִשָּׂשכָר לְעַלְמָא), because the fragrance of the Orayta rose before Kudsha Berikh Hu (בְּגִין דְּסָלִיק רֵיחָא דְּאוֹרַיְּיתָא קַמֵּי קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא). This is what is written: “The duda’im gave their fragrance…” (הֲדָא הוּא דִּכְתִּיב: הַדּוּדָאִים נָתְּנוּ רֵיחַ) (Shir haShirim 7). And it is written: “And he lay with her that night” (וּכְתִיב: וַיִּשְׁכַּב עִמָּהּ בַּלַּיְלָה הוּא) (Bereishit 30) . He—certainly (הוּא, וַדַּאי) (Daf 124b), and we have established this (וְהָא אוּקְמוּהָ), that it refers to the supernal world (דְּעַלְמָא עִילָּאָה). He, who is hidden and not revealed (הוּא, דְּסָתִים וְלָא גַלְיָא), for the Orayta emerges from the supernal world (בְּגִין דְּהָא אוֹרַיְּיתָא מֵעַלְמָא עִילָּאָה נָפְקַת). And in every place, the supernal world (וּבְכָל אֲתַּר, עַלְמָא עִילָּאָה)—He, who is not revealed (הוּא, דְּלָא אִתְגַּלְיָא). And it is said: “And the Levite shall perform the service, he…” (וְהָא אִתְּמָר: וְעָבַד הַלֵּוִי הוּא) (Bamidbar 18), in order to draw blessing from Him to all (בְּגִין לְאַמְשַׁכָּא מִנֵּיהּ בִּרְכָּאן לְכֹלָּא). And Yissakhar was bound to Him (וְיִשָּׂשכָר בֵּיהּ אִתְאַחִיד), and for this reason we call it the Tree of Life (וְעַל דָּא קָרִינָן: עֵץ הַחַיִּים), the tree of those supernal lives (אִילָנָא דְּאִינוּן חַיִּין עִילָּאִין), which is called He and not You (דְּאִקְרֵי הוּא וְלָא אַתָּה).
