In what way did he recognize them Rather, he saw (אֶלָא חָמָא) that they were the same ones he had seen in his dream (דְּאִינוּן הֲווּ אִינוּן דְּחָמָא בְּחֶלְמָא). Therefore, he called them "Machanayim" (בְּגִינֵי כָּךְ קָרָא לוֹן מַחֲנָיִם), the camps appearing above (מַשִּׁרְיָין דְּאִתְחֲזוּ לְעֵילָא), and the camps appearing below (וּמַשִּׁרְיָין דְּאִתְחֲזוּ לְתַתָּא). Why did they reveal themselves to encounter him Rather, the Shekhinta went towards him (אֶלָא שְׁכִינְתָּא אָזְלָא לְגַבֵּיהּ), to take up Her dwelling with him (לְנַטְלָא לְבֵיתֵיהּ), and was waiting for Binyamin (וּמְחַכָּא לֵיהּ לְבִנְיָמִן), so She could properly take up Her dwelling with Ya'akov's house (לְנַטְלָא בֵּיתָא עִמֵּיהּ דְּיַעֲקֹב כְּדְקָא יְאוּת). And then it is written (וּכְדֵין כְּתִיב), (Jeremiah 46): "And Ya'akov shall return, and be quiet and at ease, and none shall frighten him" (וְשָׁב יַעֲקֹב וְשָׁקַט וְשַׁאֲנָן וְאֵין מַחֲרִיד).
Blessed is Hashem forever, Amen and Amen

Parashat Vayishlach
a'akov sent messengers, etc. Rabbi Yehudah opened (רִבִּי יְהוּדָה פָּתַח) (Tehillim 91): "For His angels He will command concerning you, to guard you in all your ways" (כִּי מַלְאָכָיו יְצַוֶּה לָךְ לִשְׁמָרְךָ בְּכָל דְרָכֶיךָ). This verse has been explained by the Friends (הַאי קְרָא אוּקְמוּהָ חַבְרַיָיא), that at the time a person enters the world (דְהָא בְּשַׁעְתָּא דְּבַר נָשׁ אָתֵי לְעַלְמָא), immediately the evil inclination comes forth with him (מִיָּד אִזְדַּמַּן בַּהֲדֵיהּ יֵצֶר הָרָע), constantly accusing the person (דְּאִיהוּ מְקַטְרֵג לֵיהּ לְבַר נָשׁ תָּדִיר), as it says (כְּמָה דְאַתְּ אָמֵר) (Bereishit 4): "Sin crouches at the door" (לַפֶּתַח חַטָּאת רוֹבֵץ). What does "sin crouches" mean? (מַאי חַטָּאת רוֹבֵץ) It is the evil inclination (דָּא יֵצֶר הָרָע). David also called it "sin" (וְדָוִד הָכִי נָמֵי קָרְיֵיהּ חַטָּאת), as it is written (דִּכְתִיב) (Tehillim 51): "And my sin is ever before me" (וְחַטָּאתִי נֶגְדִי תָמִיד), because it causes a person to sin daily before his Master (בְּגִין דְּאִיהוּ עָבִיד לֵיהּ לְבַר נָשׁ כָּל יוֹמָא לְמֶחטֵי קַמֵּי מָארֵיהּ). This evil inclination never departs from a person from the day he is born into the world But the good inclination comes to a person from the time he comes to purify himself And when does a person come to purify himself? When he reaches thirteen years Then a person unites with both inclinations (כְּדֵין אִזְדַּוַּוג בַּר נָשׁ בְּתַרְוַויְיהוּ): one on the right side and one on the left side (חַד מִימִינָא וְחַד מִשְּׂמָאלָא), the good inclination on the right, and the evil inclination on the left (יֵצֶר טוֹב לִימִינָא וְיֵצֶר רַע לִשְׂמָאלָא). And these are literally two appointed angels (וְאִלֵּין אִינוּן תְּרֵין מַלְאָכִין מַמָּשׁ מְמַנָּן), who are constantly found with a person (וְאִינוּן מִשְׁתַּכְּחִין תָּדִיר בַּהֲדֵיהּ דְּבַר נָשׁ). When a person comes to purify himself (אָתֵי בַר נָשׁ לְאִתְדַּכָּאָה), that evil inclination is subdued before him (הַהוּא יֵצֶר הָרָע אִתְכַּפְיָא קַמֵּיהּ), and the right side rules over the left (וְשַׁלִּיט יְמִינָא עַל שְׂמָאלָא). And both unite to guard the person in all his paths that he follows This is the meaning of what is written (הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב): "For His angels He will command concerning you, to guard you in all your ways" (כִּי מַלְאָכָיו יְצַוֶּה לָךְ לִשְׁמָרְךָ בְּכָל דְּרָכֶיךָ).
