Daf 27b (דַּף כ״ז ע״ב)
Rabbi El‘azar said (אָמַר רִבִּי אֶלְעָזָר), from the upper right side (בְּסִטְרָא יְמִינָא עִלָּאָה), emerge thirteen supernal springs (נָפְקִין תְּלֵיסָר מַבּוּעִין עִלָּאִין), luminous and profound (נָהֲרִין עֲמִיקִין); some rise (אִלֵּין סַלְּקִין), and some descend (וְאִלֵּין נַחְתִּין), each entering into its companion (עָיִיִל כָּל חַד בְּחַבְרֵיהּ). One emits its head (חַד אַפִּיק רֵישֵׁיהּ), and enters into two bodies (וְאָעִיל לֵיהּ בִּתְרֵין גּוּפִין); one body of the river receives from the right above (חַד גּוּפָא דְּנַהֲרָא נָטִיל מִיָּמִין לְעֵילָּא), and spreads below a thousand lights (אַפְרִישׁ לְתַתָּא אֶלֶף יְאוֹרִין), going out to the four directions (נָפְקִין לְאַרְבַּע סִטְרִין).
From these luminous thirteen springs (מֵאִינּוּן נַהֲרִין מַבּוּעִין תְּלֵיסָר), are separated thirteen lights (מִתְפָּרְשָׁן תְּלֵיסַר יְאוֹרִין), ascending and taking water (עָאלִין וְנַטְלֵי מַיָּא), four hundred ninety-nine and a half lights from this side (אַרְבַּע מֵאָה וְתִשְׁעִין וְתִשְׁעָה יְאוֹרִין וּפַלְגָּא, מִסִּטְרָא דָּא), and four hundred ninety-nine and a half lights from that side on the left (וְאַרְבַּע מֵאָה וְתִשְׁעִין וְתִשְׁעָה יְאוֹרִין וּפַלְגָּא, מִסִּטְרָא דָּא בִּשְׂמָאלָא). Half remains from here, and half from there (אִשְׁתְּאַר פַלְגָּא מִכָּאן, וּפַלְגָּא מִכָּאן), and it became one (וְאִתְעָבִיד חַד).
This entered between the lights (דָּא אָעִיל בֵּין יְאוֹרִין), and became a serpent (וְאִתְעָבִיד חִוְיָא). Its head is red like a rose (רֵישָׁא: סוּמָקָא כְּוַרְדָּא); its scales are tough like iron (קַשְׁקַשָּׁוֹי: תַּקִּיפִין כְּפַרְזְלָא); its wings-wings spread out (גַּדְּפוֹי: גַּדְּפִין שָׁטָאן), extending to all those lights (וְאִתְפָּרְשָׁן לְכָל אִינּוּן יְאוֹרִין). When it lifts its tail (כַּד סָלִיק זַנְבֵּיהּ), Some say: toward it (נ״א: לְגַבֵּיהּ), it strikes and batters the rest of the fish (מָחֵי וּבָטַשׁ לִשְׁאָר נוּנִין), and none can stand before it (לֵית מַאן דְּיֵקוּם קָמֵיהּ). Its mouth emits fiery flame (פּוּמֵיהּ: מְלַהֲטָא אֶשָּׁא); when it takes in all those lights (כַּד נָטִיל בְּכָל אִינּוּן יְאוֹרִין), the other dragons tremble (מִזְדַּעְזְעָן שְׁאָר תַּנִּינַיָּיא), and they flee and go into the sea (וְעַרְקִין וְעָאלִין בְּיַמָּא). One reclines for seventy years on this side (חַד לְשִׁבְעִין שְׁנִין רָבִיץ לְסִטְרָא דָּא), and one for seventy years on that side (וְחַד לְשִׁבְעִין שְׁנִין רָבִיץ לְסִטְרָא דָּא). One thousand minus one lights are filled from it (אֶלֶף יְאוֹרִין חָסֵר חַד אִתְמַלְיָין מִנֵּיהּ); this dragon reclines among those lights (דָּא תַּנִּינָא, רָבִיץ בֵּין אִינּוּן יְאוֹרִין). When it takes, a flame of fire emerges in Klipot (כַּד נָטִיל, נָפִק חַד פָּסוּתָא דְּאֶשָּׁא בִּקְלִיפִין), all stand and rage in its rage (Some say: and stand in its branches) (כֻּלְּהוּ קַיְימִין וְזַעְפִּין בְּזַעְפּוֹי (נ״א: וְזָקְפִין בְּעַנְפוֹי), those lights mix into the eye (Some say: into the eye) of black consumption (מִתְעָרְבִין אִינּוּן יְאוֹרִין לְעֵין (נ״א: הָעַיִן תִּכְלָא אוּכָמָא). And wheels take them to the four directions of the world (וְגַלְגְּלִין נָטְלִין לְאַרְבַּע סִטְרֵי דְּעָלְמָא). It raises its tail, strikes above, strikes below (זָקִיף זַנְבֵּיהּ, מָחֵי לְעֵילָּא, מָחֵי לְתַתָּא), and all flee before it (כֹּלָּא עַרְקִין קָמֵיהּ).
Until, from the northern side, a flame of fire arises (עַד דְּלִסְטַר צָפוֹן, קָם חַד שַׁלְהוֹבָא דְּאֶשָּׁא), and a herald proclaims (וְכָרוֹזָא קָרֵי), “Let the elders rise!” and they scatter to the four corners (אִזְדַּקְפוּ סַבְּתִּין, אִתְבַּדָּרוּ לְד׳ זָוְיָין), then is aroused the one who places a hook (הָא אִתְּעַר מַאן דְּשַׁוֵּי קֳדְלָא) upon the jaws of the Dragon, as it is said (Ezekiel 29) “And I will place hooks in your jaws…” (עַל אַנְפּוֹי דְּתַנִּינָא, כְּמָה דְּאִתְּמַר: וְנָתַתִּי חַחִים בִּלְחָיֶיךָ וְגו׳). Then all disperse (כְּדֵין כֻּלְּהוּ אִתְבַּדְּרוּן), and they capture the Dragon (וְנַקְטִין לֵיהּ לְתַנִּינָא), and pierce its face from the upper side (וְנָקְבֵי אַנְפּוֹי בִּסְטַר עִלְּעוֹי), and bring it down to the female of Tehom Rabbah (וְעָאלִין לֵיהּ לְנוּקְבָּא דִּתְהוֹמָא רַבָּא), until its power is broken (עַד דְּאִתְּבַּר חֵילֵיהּ), then they return it to its stream (Some say: to its nostrils) (כְּדֵין אֲהַדְּרוּ לֵיהּ לְנַהֲרוֹי (נ״א: לְנַחֲרוֹי).
For seventy years they deal with it in this way (חַד לְשִׁבְעִין שְׁנִין עַבְדִּין לֵיהּ כְּדֵין), so that it not confuse the places of the firmaments and their supports (בְּגִין דְּלָא יְטַשְׁטֵשׁ אַתְרִין דִּרְקִיעִין וּסְמָכַיְיהוּ). And upon them all ears are attentive (וְעָלַיְיהוּ כֹּלָּא אוֹדָן), and they bless and say (Psalms 95) “Come, let us bow and kneel, let us bless before Hashem our Maker” (וּמְבָרְכָאן וְאַמְרִין: בּוֹאוּ נִשְׁתַּחֲוֶה וְנִכְרָעָה נִבְרְכָה לִפְנֵי יי עוֹשֵׂנוּ). The upper Dragon, these are the ones above (Some say: on high) (תַּנִּינַיָּיא עִלָּאִין אִילֵין (ס״א: לְעֵילָא), they are the ones who are blessed (קַיְּימִין אִינּוּן דְּמִתְבָּרְכָאן), as it is said (Bereshit 1) “And Elohim blessed them” (כְּמָה דְּאַתְּ אָמֵר: וַיְבָרֶךְ אֹתָם אֱלֹהִים). These rule over all other fish (אִלֵּין שַׁלְטִין עַל כָּל שְׁאָר נוּנִין), as it is written: “and fill the waters in the seas” (דִּכְתִּיב: וּמִלְאוּ אֶת הַמַּיִם בַּיַּמִּים). And for this it is written (Psalms 104) “How many are Your works, Hashem; all of them in wisdom You made” (וְעַל דָּא כְּתִיב: מָה רַבּוּ מַעֲשֶׂיךָ יי, כֻּלָּם בְּחָכְמָה עָשִׂיתָ).

Tosefta
A cluster of henna is my beloved to me (אֶשְׁכּוֹל הַכּוֹפֶר דּוֹדִי לִי). A cluster-this is the Supernal Imma (אֶשְׁכּוֹל: דָּא אִימָּא עִלָּאָה). Just as a cluster is adorned with many leaves and many tendrils, for Yisrael to consume from it (מַה אֶשְׁכּוֹל מִתְקַשֵּׁט בְּכַמָּה עָלִין בְּכַמָּה זְמוֹרוֹת לְיִשְׂרָאֵל דְּאַכְלִין לֵיהּ), so too the Supernal Shekhinta is adorned with many adornments of the eight Kelim (הָכִי שְׁכִינְתָּא עִלָּאָה, מִתְקַשֶּׁטֶת בְּכַמָּה קִשּׁוּטִין דִּשְׁמֹנָה כֵּלִים), from many offerings, from many types of ornaments of atonement for her children (מִכַּמָּה קָרְבָּנִין, מִכַּמָּה מִינֵי תַּכְשִׁיטִין דְּכַפְּרָה לִבְנָהָא), and she rises in them before the King (וְאִיהִי קָמַת בְּהוֹן קָמֵי מַלְכָּא), and immediately-"And I shall see it, to remember the eternal covenant" (Bereshit 9) (וּמִיַּד וּרְאִיתִיהָ לִזְכּוֹר בְּרִית עוֹלָם). And she gives us her petitions (וִיהִיבַת לָן שְׁאֶילְתִּין דִּילָהּ), in these blessings that the Rabbis established in prayer, to request before the King (בְּאִלֵּין בִּרְכָּאן דְּתָקִינוּ רַבָּנָן בִּצְלוֹתָא, לְמִשְׁאַל קַמֵי מַלְכָּא). Some say: and she asks their questions for them (נ״א: לון שאלתין דלהון).
At that moment, all the judgments of the Lower Shekhinta, which is Havayah-Adonai (בְּהַהוּא זִמְנָא, כָּל דִּינִין דִּשְׁכִינְתָּא תַּתָּאָה, דְּאִיהִי הוה״י אֲדֹנָ״י), are transformed to compassion (מִתְהַפְּכָן לְרַחֲמֵי), in this likeness of YHVH (כְּגַוְונָא דָּא ידו״ד), to fulfill: “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow” (Isaiah 1) (לְקַיֵּם אִם יִהְיוּ חֲטָאֵיכֶם כַּשָּׁנִים כַּשֶּׁלֶג יַלְבִּינוּ), YHVH (ידו״ד). “Though they be red like crimson” (אִם יַאְדִּימוּ כַתּוֹלָע), my beloved (דּוֹדִי), “they shall be as wool,” YHVH (כַּצֶּמֶר יִהְיוּ, ידו״ד).
All the judgments-some say: all the judgments of this one (נ״א: כל דינין דדא') are whitened through the Supernal Shekhinta (כָּל דִּינִין מִתְלַבְּנִין מִשְׁכִינְתָּא עִלָּאָה). And she, the Shekhinta-my beloved (וְאִיהִי שְׁכִינְתָּא דּוֹדִי) “the flaming sword that turns every way to guard the way to the Tree of Life” (Bereshit 3) (לַהַט הַחֶרֶב הַמִּתְהַפֶּכֶת לִשְׁמוֹר אֶת דֶּרֶךְ עֵץ הַחַיִּים). And the Rabbis established it, that she transforms-sometimes to mercy, sometimes to judgment (וְאוּקְמוּהָ רַבָּנָן, דִּמְהַפְּכָא זִמְנִין רַחֲמֵי, זִמְנִין דִּינָא). Sometimes men, sometimes women (פְּעָמִים אֲנָשִׁים, פְּעָמִים נָשִׁים). Sometimes judgment-in this likeness of “my beloved” (זִמְנִין דִּינָא, כְּגַוְונָא דָּא דּוֹדִי). Sometimes mercy-in this likeness of YHVH (זִמְנִין רַחֲמֵי, כְּגַוְונָא דָּא ידו״ד).
For He is on the side of the Tree of Life (דְּהָא אִיהוּ מִסִּטְרָא דְּאִילָנָא דְּחַיֵּי), all judgments are transformed into mercy (כָּל דִּינִין מִתְהַפְּכִין לְרַחֲמֵי). And from the side of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (וּמִסִּטְרָא דְּעֵץ הַדַּעַת טוֹב וָרָע), all mercy is transformed into judgment (כָּל רַחֲמֵי מִתְהַפְּכָן לְדִינָא), to mete out upon those who transgress the words of the Orayta (לְמֵידָן בְּהוּ לְאִינוּן דְּעַבְרֵי עַל פִּתְגָּמֵי אוֹרַיְּיתָא).
