Daf 2a (דַּף ב׳ ע״א)

nd these are the names of the sons of Yisrael who came to Egypt with Ya'akov, each man and his household came (וְאֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל הַבָּאִים מִצְרַיְמָה אֵת יַעֲקֹב אִישׁ וּבֵיתוֹ בָּאוּ) (Exodus 1). And the Wise will shine like Zohar of the firmament, and those who justify the many like the stars forever and ever (וְהַמַּשְׂכִּילִים יַזְהִירוּ כְּזֹהַר הָרָקִיעַ וּמַצְדִּיקֵי הָרַבִּים כַּכּוֹכָבִים לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד) (Daniel 12). And the wise-these are those who gaze into the secret of Chokhmah (וְהַמַּשְׂכִּילִים: אִלֵּין אִינּוּן דְּמִסְתַּכְּלֵי בְּרָזָא דְּחָכְמְתָא). Some say: “they will shine with sparks in the secret of Chokhmah” (נ״א: יַזְהִירוּ דְּנְצִצִין בְּרָזָא דְּחָכְמְתָא). They will shine-that is, they will radiate and sparkle in the brilliance of the supernal Chokhmah (יַזְהִירוּ: נַהֲרִין, וְנֹצְצִין בְּזִיוָא דְּחָכְמְתָא עִלָּאָה).

Like the Zohar-meaning the brilliance and sparkle of the river that goes forth from Eden (כְּזֹהַר: נְהִירוּ וּנְצִיצוּ דְּנַהֲרָא דְּנָפִיק מֵעֵדֶן). And this is the concealed secret, which is called firmament (וְדָא אִיהוּ רָזָא סְתִימָא, דְּאִקְרֵי רָקִיעַ) (Bereshit 1:8). Within it dwell the stars and constellations, the sun and the moon, and all those lamps of radiance (בֵּיהּ קַיָּימִין כּוֹכְבַיָּא וּמַזָּלֵי שִׁמְשָׁא וְסִיהֲרָא, וְכָל אִינּוּן בּוּצִינִין דִּנְהוֹרָא).

The Zohar of this firmament shines with radiance over the Garden (זֹהַר דְּהַאי רָקִיעַ נָהִיר בִּנְהִירוּ עַל גִּנְתָּא). And the Tree of Life stands in the center of the Garden (וְאִילָנָא דְּחַיֵּי קַיָּים בִּמְצִיעוּת גִּנְתָּא). For its branches are covering p5-0(דְּעַנְפּוֹי חַפְיָין). all those images and trees and fragrant spices that are in the Garden, in vessels of perfection (כָּל אִינּוּן דִּיוּקְנִין וְאִילָנִין וּבוּסְמִין דִּבְגִּנְתָּא, בְּמָאנִין דְּכַשְׁרָן). Some say: and they shadow (ס״א: וּמְטַלְּלִין), and they are shaded beneath it, all creatures of creation (וּתְטַלְּלִין תַּחוֹתֵיהּ כָּל חֵיוַת בָּרָא). And all the birds of the heavens dwell beneath those branches (וְכֹל צִפֳּרֵי שְׁמַיָּא יְדוּרוּן תַּחוֹת אִינּוּן עַנְפִּין).

The Zohar is the fruit of the tree; it gives life to all (זֹהַר אִיבָּא דְּאִילָנָא, יָהִיב חַיֵּין לְכֹלָּא). Its existence endures forever and to all eternity (קִיּוּמֵיהּ לְעָלַם וּלְעָלְמֵי עָלְמִין). No other side abides in it, only the side of holiness (סִטְרָא אַחֲרָא לָא שַׁרְיָא בֵּיהּ, אֶלָּא סִטְרָא דִּקְדוּשָּׁה). Blessed is the portion of those who taste from it-these endure forever and to all eternity (זַכָּאָה חוּלָקֵיהוֹן אִינּוּן דְּטַעֲמִין מִנֵּיהּ, אִינּוּן קַיְּימִין לְעָלַם וּלְעָלְמֵי עָלְמִין). These are called “The Wise” (אִלֵּין אִקְרוּן מַשְׂכִּילִים), and they are blessed with life in this world and life in the world to come (וְזַכָּאָן חַיֵּין בְּהַאי עָלְמָא, וְחַיֵּין בְּעָלְמָא דְאָתֵי).

The Zohar of this Tree, it ascends higher and higher (זֹהַר אִילָנָא דָּא, זַקְפָא לְעֵילָּא לְעֵילָּא). Its journey is five hundred parasangs (חֲמֵשׁ מְאָה פַּרְסֵי הִלּוּכֵיהּ), Six hundred thousand is it, in its simplicity (שִׁתִּין רִבּוֹא אִיהוּ, בִּפְשִׁיטוּתֵיהּ). In this Tree dwells one Zohar (בְּהַאי אִילָנָא, קַיְּימָא חַד זֹהֲרָא), Zohar-all colors abide in it (זֹהַר: כָּל גַּוְונִין קַיָּימִין בֵּיהּ). These colors rise and descend, they do not settle in any other place except within this Tree (אִינּוּן גַּוְונִין סָלְקִין וְנַחְתִּין, לָא מִתְיַשְׁבֵי בְּדוּכְתָּא אַחֲרָא בַּר בְּהַהוּא אִילָנָא). When they emerge from it to appear within a Zohar that does not shine, they settle and do not settle, they stand and do not stand-because they do not settle in another place (כַּד נַפְקֵי מִנֵּיהּ לְאִתְחֲזָאָה בְּגוֹ זֹהַר דְּלָא נַהֲרָא, מִתְיַשְּׁבָן וְלָא מִתְיַשְּׁבָן, קַיְּימָן וְלָא קַיְּימָן, בְּגִין דְּלָא מִתְיַשְּׁבָן בְּאֲתַר אַחֲרָא).

From this Tree came forth the twelve tribes (מֵאִילָנָא דָּא נַפְקֵי תְּרֵיסַר שְׁבָטִין), who are encompassed within it (דְּמִתְּחַמָּן בֵּיהּ), and they descended in this Zohar that does not shine into the exile of Egypt (וְאִינּוּן נַחְתוּ בְּהַאי זֹהַר דְּלָא נַהֲרָא, לְגוֹ גָּלוּתָא דְּמִצְרַיִם), among many supernal camps (בְּכַמָּה מַשִּׁירְיָין עִלָּאִין). This is what is written: And these are the names of the sons of Yisrael etc. (וְאֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְגוֹ') (Exodus 1).
