And that opening existed in the Holy Land (וְהַהִיא פְּתִיחוּ הֲוָה בְּאַרְעָא קַדִּישָׁא), whenever they performed the service as was fitting (בְּכָל זִמְנָא דְּפָלְחִין פּוּלְחָנָא כְּדְקָא יֵאוֹת). Once sins caused it (כֵּיוָן דְּגָרְמוּ חוֹבִין), they drew that opening to this side and to that side (מְשִׁיכוּ הַהוּא פְּתִיחוּ לְהַאי סִטְרָא וּלְהַאי סִטְרָא), until the Klipah approached, all together (עַד דְּאִתְקָרָב קְלִיפָה, כֹּלָּא כַּחֲדָא).

When the Klipah closed upon the brain (כֵּיוָן דְּאַסְתִּים קְלִיפָה לְמוֹחָא), then that Klipah ruled over them (כְּדֵין שַׁלְטָא הַהִיא קְלִיפָה עָלַיְיהוּ), and drove them out from that place (וְדָחָה לוֹן לְבַר מֵהַהוּא דּוּכְתָּא). And with all this, even though it drove them outside (וְעִם כָּל דָּא אַף עַל גַּב דְּדָּחָה לוֹן לְבַר), that strong Klipah could not rule in that holy place (לָא יָכִיל הַהִיא קְלִיפָה תַּקִּיפָא לְשַׁלְּטָאָה בְּהַהוּא דּוּכְתָּא קַדִּישָׁא), for it is not its domain (דְּלָאו אַתְרֵיהּ אִיהוּ).

And if you say: if so, since that strong Klipah cannot rule in that holy place (וְאִי תֵּימָא, אִי הָכִי, הוֹאִיל וְלָא יָכִיל הַהִיא קְלִיפָה תַּקִּיפָא לְשַׁלְּטָאָה בְּהַהוּא דּוּכְתָּא קַדִּישָׁא), why does destruction exist, for destruction does not come into the world except from the side of that strong Klipah?

Rather, indeed, when it was destroyed, it was destroyed only from that side (אֶלָּא וַדַּאי כַּד אִתְחָרַב, לָא אִתְחָרַב אֶלָּא מֵהַהוּא סִטְרָא), at the time when the brain was closed (בְּשַׁעֲתָא דְּאַסְתִּים לְמוֹחָא). And Kudsha Berikh Hu acted so that that strong Klipah should not rule over that place And when He drove Yisrael out from it (וְכַד דָּחָה לוֹן לְיִשְׂרָאֵל מִנֵּיהּ), that Klipah returned and was opened as before (הַהִיא קְלִיפָה אִתְהַדְּרַת וְאִתְפַּתְחַת כְּמִלְּקַדְּמִין). And because the holy people were not there (וּבְגִין דְּעַמָּא קַדִּישָׁא לָא הֲווֹ תַּמָּן), a covering was spread upon that opening - the holy canopy of the thin veil (חַפְיָא עַל הַהוּא פְּתִיחוּ, חוּפָּאָה קַדִּישָׁא דְּפָרוֹכְתָּא קְלִישָׁא) - to guard that place (לְנַטְרָא הַהוּא אֲתָר), so that the strong Klipah would not close it and seize it from all sides (דְּלָא יִסְתּוֹם לֵיהּ הַהִיא קְלִיפָה תַּקִּיפָא, וְאָחִיד בְּכָל סִטְרוֹי). To restore the dominion of holiness on earth as before, it could not be (לְמֶהֱוֵי רְבוּת קֻדְשָׁא עַל אַרְעָא כְּמִלְקַדְּמִין, לָא יָכִיל), for that thin canopy holds fast (דְּהָא הַהוּא חוּפָּאָה קְלִישָׁא אָחִיד), and She could not descend below (דְּלָא יֵחוּת לְתַתָּא), since the holy people were not there (דְּהָא עַמָּא קַדִּישָׁא לָאו תַּמָּן).

And for this reason the destruction has not been rebuilt from the day it was destroyed To allow that strong Klipah to rule - it cannot For that thin canopy holds it on every side (דְּהָא הַהוּא חוּפָּאָה קְלִישָׁא אָחִיד בֵּיהּ בְּכָל סִטְרוֹי), in that opening, so that it should not rule there and not close the brain (בְּהַהוּא פְּתִיחוּ דְּלָא תִּשְׁלוֹט תַּמָּן, וְלָא תַּסְתִּים מוֹחָא). Through that canopy, the thin veil, which is drawn from the holy veil above, that guards that place And for this reason, all those souls of the rest of the nations who dwell in the land (וּבְגִין כַּךְ, כָּל אִינּוּן נִשְׁמָתִין דִּשְׁאַר עַמִּין, דְּדַיְירִין בְּאַרְעָא), when they go out from this world, she does not receive them (כַּד נָפְקִין מֵהַאי עָלְמָא, לָא מְקַבְּלָא לוֹן), but casts them outside (וְדָחֵי לוֹן לְבַר), and they go and wander and roll through many gilgulim (וְאַזְלִין וְשָׁטָאן וּמִתְגַּלְגְּלִין בְּכַמָּה גִּלְגּוּלִין), until they depart entirely from the Holy Land (עַד דְּנַפְקֵי מִכָּל אַרְעָא קַדִּישָׁא), and circle about to their own sides in their filth (וְסָחֲרָן לְסִטְרַיְיהוּ, בִּמְסָאֲבוּ דִּלְהוֹן).

But all those souls of Yisrael who depart there (וְכָל אִינּוּן נִשְׁמָתִין דְּיִשְׂרָאֵל דְּנָפְקִין תַּמָּן), ascend (סַלְּקִין), and that thin canopy receives them (וְהַהוּא חוּפָּאָה קְלִישָׁא מְקַבְּלָא לוֹן), and they enter into supernal holiness (וְעָאלִין לִקְדוּשָּׁא עִלָּאָה), because every kind goes to its kind (בְּגִין דְּכָל זִּינָא אַזְלָא לְזִינֵיהּ). And the souls of Yisrael that go out outside the Land (וְנִשְׁמָתֵיהוֹן דְּיִשְׂרָאֵל דְּנַפְקֵי לְבַר מֵאַרְעָא), are under the dominion of that strong Klipah (בִּרְשׁוּתָא דְּהַהִיא קְלִיפָה תַּקִּיפָא), and it goes and circles and rolls about (אַזְלָא וְסָחֲרָא וּמִתְגַּלְגְּלָא), until it returns to its place and enters into the place prepared for it (עַד דְּתָבַת לְדּוּכְתָּהָא, וְעָאלַת לַאֲתָר דְּאִתְחָזֵי לָהּ). Blessed is the portion of one whose soul departs in holy permission, through that opening of the Holy Land

He whose soul departs in the Holy Land - if he is buried that day (מַאן דְּנִשְׁמָתֵיהּ נַפְקַת בְּאַרְעָא קַדִּישָׁא, אִי אִתְקְבַּר בְּהַהוּא יוֹמָא), the impure spirit does not rule over him at all (לָא שַׁלְטָא עָלֵיהּ רוּחָא מְסַאֲבָא כְּלַל). And concerning this it is written regarding one hanged: You shall surely bury him on that day, and you shall not defile your Land (Devarim 21). For at night permission is given to the impure spirit to wander And even though permission is given to them (וְאַף עַל גַּב דְּאִתְיְהִיב לוֹן רְשׁוּ), they do not enter the Holy Land (לָא עָאלִין בְּאַרְעָא קַדִּישָׁא), except if they find there some remnant upon which to enter p1-27(בַּר אִי אַשְׁכְּחָן תַּמָּן מָנָא לְאַעֲלָא בֵּיהּ). The limbs and fat that are consumed at night (אֵבָרִין וּפְדָרִין דְּמִתְאַכְּלָן בְּלֵילְיָא), to provide sustenance to other hosts (לְאַתְּזְנָא זִינִין אַחֲרָנִין), are not for entering into the Land (לָאו דְּעַיְילִין בְּאַרְעָא), nor to draw them in the Land (וְלָא לְאַמְשָׁכָא לוֹן בְּאַרְעָא), but so that another side not rule within the Land, nor be drawn above there (אֶלָּא, בְּגִין דְּלָא תִּשְׁלוֹט סִטְרָא אַחֲרָא גּוֹ אַרְעָא, וְלָא יִתְמַשְׁכָא לְאַעֲלָא תַּמָּן). And for this reason, smoke would go up from them (וּבְגִין כַּךְ, תְּנָנָא מִנַּיְיהוּ הֲוָה סָלִיק), and roll outside (עֲקִימָא, וּמִתְגַּלְגְּלָא לְבַר), and rush with force (וְאָזִיל בִּבְהִילוּ), until it entered the northern hollow (עַד דְּעָאל לְנוּקְבָּא דְּצָפוֹן), where are the dwellings of all other sides (דְּתַמָּן מָדוֹרִין דְּכָל סִטְרִין אַחֲרָנִין). And there entered the smoke (וְתַמָּן עָאל תְּנָנָא), and all were sustained there (וְכֻלְּהוּ אִתְּזָנוּ תַּמָּן).

The smoke of the day ascends to its place in a straight path (תְּנָנָא דִּימָמָא, הֲוָה סָלִיק לְדוּכְתֵּיהּ בְּאֹרַח מֵישַׁר), and is sustained with what it is sustained (וְאִתְּזָן מַה דְּאִתְּזָן). And from that opening (וּמֵהַהוּא פְּתִיחוּ), all the sides of the strong Klipah were sustained (אִתְּזָנוּ כָּל סִטְרֵי קְלִיפָה תַּקִּיפָא), which is outside the Holy Land (דְּאִיהִי לְבַר מֵאַרְעָא קַדִּישָׁא), and from that heavy smoke, as we have established (וּמֵהַהוּא תְּנָנָא גַּסָּה כְּמָה דְּאוֹקִימְנָא). The bodies of the Righteous (גּוּפֵיהוֹן דְּצַדִּיקַיָּיא), who were not drawn in this world after the pleasures of that strong Klipah (דְּלָא אִתְמְשָׁכוּ בְּהַאי עָלְמָא בָּתַר הֲנָאִין דְּהַהִיא קְלִיפָה תַּקִּיפָא), no impure spirit rules over them at all (לָא שַׁלְטָא עָלַיְיהוּ רוּחַ מְסָאֲבוּ כְּלָל), for they did not follow after it at all in this world (דְּהָא לָא אִשְׁתַּתְפוּ אֲבַתְרֵיהּ כְּלוּם בְּהַאי עָלְמָא). Just as the body of the wicked (כְּמָה דְּגוּפָא דְּרַשִׁיעַיָּיא), Some say: the bodies of the righteous who were not drawn after the pleasures and lusts of this world - that strong Klipah does not rule over them, for they were not drawn after it in this world; but the body of the wicked... It was drawn in this world after that strong Klipah (אִתְמְשָׁךְ בְּהַאי עָלְמָא בָּתַר הַהִיא קְלִיפָה תַּקִּיפָא), and its pleasures, delights, and adornments (וַהֲנָאִין וְעִנּוּגִין דִּילֵיהּ וְתִיקּוּנִין דִּילֵיהּ). Thus it is defiled after its soul departs from it
