Daf 210a (דַּף ר״י ע״א)
Then, from those two openings (כְּדֵין, מֵאִינּוּן תְּרֵין פִּתְחִין), two chariots descend from above (מְקַדְּמֵי וְנַחְתֵּי מֵעֵילָּא, תְּרֵין רְתִיכִין). One supernal chariot is the chariot of Mikha’el, the great officer (רְתִיכָא חֲדָא עִלָּאָה, דְּאִיהִי רְתִיכָא דְּמִיכָאֵל, רַב סְגָנִין). The second chariot is that of the great appointee called Bo’el (רְתִיכָא תִּנְיָינָא, דְּאִיהִי רְתִיכָא מֵהַהוּא רַב מְמָנָא, דְּאִקְרֵי בּוֹאֵ״ל), and this is the precious attendant called Refa’el (וְדָא אִיהוּ שָׁמָשָׁא יַקִּירָא דְּאִקְרֵי רְפָאֵ״ל). And they descend and stand over the soul (וְאִינּוּן נַחְתִּין וְקַיְימִין עַל נִשְׁמְתָא), saying to her: “Peace be upon you” (אַמְרִין לָהּ שָׁלוֹם בּוֹאֶךְ), as it is written: “Peace shall come, peace shall come” (יָבֹא שָׁלוֹם יָבֹא שָׁלוֹם) (Isaiah 57). Then those two letters ascend and return to their places (כְּדֵין אִינּוּן תְּרֵין אַתְוָון, סַלְּקִין וְקַיְימִין בְּאַתְרַיְיהוּ), and are hidden within that light of the openings (וְאִתְגְּנִיזוּ גּוֹ הַהוּא נְהוֹרָא, דְּאִינּוּן פִּתְחִין).
Two other openings, two other lights (תְּרֵין פִּתְחִין אַחֲרָנִין, תְּרֵין נְהוֹרִין אַחֲרָנִין), blaze forth from a fiery radiance (קָא מְלַהֲטִין, מִנְהִירוּ דְּאֶשָּׁא), in those openings—one to the left side and one to the back (בְּאִינּוּן פִּתְחִין חַד לִסְטַר שְׂמָאלָא, וְחַד לַאֲחוֹרָא). Two other letters blaze within those lights (תְּרֵין אַתְוָון אַחֲרָנִין, מְלַהֲטִין בְּאִינּוּן נְהוֹרִין), and sparkle within them (וּנְצִיצִין בְּגַּוַּויְיהוּ): one is the letter Gimel (אָת חַד ג׳), and one is the letter Nun (וְאָת חַד נ׳). And when the first letters return to their place (וְכַד אַתְוָון קַדְמָאֵי מִתְהַדְּרָן לְאַתְרַיְיהוּ), these two other letters begin to sparkle (אִלֵּין תְּרֵין אַחֲרָנִין נִצוֹצִין), ascend and descend (סַלְּקִין וְנַחְתִּין), emerge from within those lights (נָפְקִין מֵאִינּוּן נְהוֹרִין), and stand over the soul (וְקַיְימִין עַל נִשְׁמְתָא). Then two chariots descend (כְּדֵין נַחְתִּין תְּרֵין רְתִיכִין), from those two openings (מֵאִינּוּן תְּרֵין פִּתְחִין): one is the chariot of Gavri’el, the great and precious appointee (רְתִיכָא חֲדָא אִיהוּ רְתִיכָא דְּגַבְרִיאֵל, רַב מְמָנָא וְיַקִּירָא). The second chariot is another holy chariot of Nuri’el, the great appointee (רְתִיכָא תִּנְיָינָא, אִיהִי רְתִיכָא אַחֲרָא קַדִּישָׁא דְּנוּרִיאֵ״ל רַב מְמָנָא). They descend from those openings (וְנַחְתִּין מֵאִינּוּן פִּתְחִין), and stand over the soul (וְקַיְימִין עַל נִשְׁמְתָא), and the letters return to their place (וְאַתְוָון מִתְהַדְּרָן לְאַתְרַיְיהוּ). Then, these two chambers enter into one concealed chariots of the Garden (כְּדֵין, אִלֵּין תְּרֵין רְתִיכִין, עָאלִין לְגוֹ הֵיכָלָא חֲדָא טְמִירָא דְּגִּנְתָּא), which is called Ahalot (דְּאִקְרֵי אֲהָלוֹ״ת). And there are twelve types of hidden spices (וְתַמָּן תְּרִיסָר זִינֵי בּוּסְמִין גְּנִיזִין), as it is written: “Nard and saffron, cane and cinnamon…” (דִּכְתִּיב: נִרְדְּ וְכַרְכֹּם קָנֶה וְקִנָּמוֹן וְגוֹ׳) (Song of Songs 4). These are the twelve kinds of lower spices (וְאִינּוּן תְּרִיסָר זִינֵי דְּבוּסְמִין דִּלְתַתָּא). And there are found there all those garments of the souls (וְתַמָּן כָּל אִינּוּן לְבוּשִׁין דְּנִשְׁמָתִין), which are seen to be clothed by each one, as is fitting (דְּאִתְחָזוּן לְאִתְלַבְּשָׁא בְּהוּ, כָּל חַד וְחַד, כַּדְקָא חֲזֵי).
Upon that garment are inscribed all the good deeds (בְּהַהוּא לְבוּשָׁא, אִתְרְשִׁימוּ כָּל אִינּוּן עוֹבָדִין טָבִין), that were done in this world (דְּעֲבַד בְּהַאי עָלְמָא), and all of them are recorded in it (וְכֻלְּהוּ רְשִׁימִין בֵּיהּ), and they announce: “This is the garment of so-and-so” (וּמַכְרִיזֵי: הַאי אִיהוּ לְבוּשָׁא דִּפְלַנְיָא). And they take that garment (וְנַטְלִין לְהַהוּא לְבוּשָׁא), and that soul of the Tzaddik in the Garden is clothed in it (וְאִתְלַבְּשַׁת בֵּיהּ הַהִיא נִשְׁמְתָא דְּצַדִּיקַיָּא), in the likeness of its form from this world (דִּבְגִנְתָּא, כְּגַוְונָא דְּדִיּוּקְנָא דְּהַאי עָלְמָא). And these matters are from thirty days and onward (וְהָנֵי מִילֵי, מִתְּלָתִין יוֹמִין וְאֵילָךְ), for every thirty days, there is no soul that does not receive punishment (דְּהָא כָּל תְּלָתִין יוֹמִין, לֵית לָךְ נִשְׁמְתָא דְּלָא תְּקַבֵּל עוֹנְשָׁא), before it enters the Garden of Eden (עַד לָא תֵּיעוּל לְגִנְתָּא דְּעֵדֶן).
Once it has received punishment (כֵּיוָן דְּקַבִּילַת עוֹנְשָׁא), it enters the Garden of Eden (עָאלַת לְגִנְתָּא דְּעֵדֶן), as has been established (כְּמָה דְּאוּקְמוּהָ). After it has been whitened (לְבָתַר דְּאִתְלַבְּנַת), it is clothed (אִתְלַבְּשַׁת); once it is clothed in that garment (כֵּיוָן דְּאִתְלַבְּשַׁת בְּהַאי לְבוּשָׁא), a place is given to her according to what is fitting (יַהֲבִין לָהּ אֲתָר כְּמָה דְּאִתְחָזֵי לָהּ). Then all those letters descend (כְּדֵין, כָּל אִינּוּן אַתְוָון, נַחְתִּין), and those chariots ascend (וְסַלְּקִין אִינּוּן רְתִיכִין). That firmament revolves twice daily (הַהוּא רְקִיעָא אָהֲדַּר תְּרֵין זִמְנִין בְּכָל יוֹמָא), in the motion of this other firmament that cleaves to it (בְּהַהוּא נְטִילוּ דְּהַאי רְקִיעָ אַחֲרָא, דְּמִתְדָּבַק בֵּיהּ). And this firmament does not go outside of the Garden (וְהַאי רְקִיעָא לָא נָפִיק לְבַר מִגִּנְתָּא). This firmament is embroidered with all kinds of colors (רְקִיעָא דָּא, מְרֻקְּמָא בְּכָל זִינֵי גַּוְונִין).
Twenty-two letters are inscribed and engraved in that firmament (תְּרֵין וְעֶשְׂרִין אַתְוָון רְשִׁימִין מְחַקְּקָן, בְּהַהוּא רְקִיעָא), and from each letter drips (some say: dew descends) (כָּל אָת וְאָת, נָטִיף מִמָנָא — ס״א מִטַּלָּא), a dew from above upon the Garden (מִטַּלָּא דִּלְעֵילָּא עַל גִּנְתָּא). And from that dew of the letters, the souls are bathed (וּמֵהַהוּא טַלָּא דְּאַתְוָון אִתְסַחְיָין אִינּוּן נִשְׁמָתִין), and healed (וּמְתַסְּיָין), after they immersed in the River Dinur to be purified (בָּתַר דְּטָבְלוּ בִּנְהַר דִּינוּר לְאִתְדְכָּאָה). And the dew descends only from the letters that are inscribed and engraved in that firmament (וְטַלָא לָא נָחִית, אֶלָּא מִגּוֹ אַתְוָון דִּרְשִׁימִין וּמְחַקְּקָן בְּהַהוּא רְקִיעָא), for those letters are the totality of the Orayta (בְּגִין דְּאִינּוּן אַתְוָון כְּלָלָא דְּאוֹרַיְיתָא). And that firmament is the secret of the Orayta (וְהַהוּא רְקִיעָא רָזָא דְּאוֹרַיְיתָא), for it was made from the fire and water of the Orayta (דְּהָא מֵאֵשׁ וּמַיִם דְּאוֹרַיְיתָא אִתְעָבִיד). And because of this, they draw down dew (וְעַל דָּא אִינּוּן נַגְדִּין טַלָּא), upon all those who engaged in the Orayta for its own sake in this world (עַל כָּל אִינּוּן דְּאִשְׁתַּדְּלוּ בְּאוֹרַיְיתָא לִשְׁמָהּ בְּהַאי עָלְמָא). And these words are inscribed in the Garden of Eden (וְאִלֵּין מִלִּין רְשִׁימִין בְּגִנְתָּא דְּעֵדֶן), and ascend to that firmament (וְסַלְּקִין עַד הַהוּא רְקִיעָא), and draw from those letters that dew (וְנַטְלִין מֵאִינּוּן אַתְוָון הַהוּא טַלָּא), to sustain that soul (לְאַתְּזָנָא הַהִיא נִשְׁמְתָא). This is what is written: “Let my teaching drop like the rain, my speech distill like the dew” (הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִּיב: יַעֲרֹף כַּמָּטָר לִקְחִי תִּזַּל כַּטַּל אִמְרָתִי) (Deuteronomy 32).
In the center of that firmament (בְּאֶמְצָעִיתָא דְּהַאי רְקִיעָא), there stands one opening (קַיְּימָא פִּתְחָא חֲדָא), corresponding to the opening of the supernal palace (לָקֳבֵל פִּתְחָא דְּהֵיכְלָא דִּלְעֵילָּא), and through that opening (דִּבְהַהוּא פִּתְחָא), souls fly up from the lower Garden to above (פַּרְחִין נִשְׁמָתִין מִגִּנְתָּא דִּלְתַתָּא לְעֵילָּא), by way of one pillar implanted in the Garden (בְּחַד עַמּוּדָא דְּנָעִיץ בְּגִנְתָּא), until that opening (עַד הַהוּא פִּתְחָא). Within that firmament (or: pillar) at that opening (גּוֹ הַהוּא רְקִיעָא (נ״א עַמּוּדָא) בְּהַהוּא פִּתְחָא), which is in the center of the firmament of the Garden (דְּאִיהוּ בְּאֶמְצָעִיתָא דִּרְקִיעָא דִּבְגִנְתָּא), there enter three bands of light intertwined as one (עָאלִין בְּגַוָהּ תְּלַת גַּוְונִין דִּנְהוֹרָא כְּלִילָן כַּחֲדָא), and they illuminate the hues of that pillar (וְנָהֲרָן לִגְוָונִין דְּהַהוּא עַמּוּדָא). Then that firmament (or: pillar) flashes and burns with many hues At every moment, the Tzaddikim shine from that supernal radiance (בְּכָל שַׁעֲתָא, נַהֲרִין צַדִּיקַיָּא, מֵהַהוּא זִיוָא עִלָּאָה). But on every Shabbat and Shabbat (אֲבָל בְּכָל שַׁבְּתָא וְשַׁבְּתָא), and on every New Moon (וּבְכָל רֵישׁ יַרְחָא), the Shekhinta is revealed more than at all other times in that firmament (אִתְגַּלְיָיא שְׁכִינְתָּא, יַתִּיר מִשְּׁאָר זְמַנִי בְּהַאי רְקִיעָא), and all the Tzaddikim come and bow before Her (וְאַתְיָין כֻּלְּהוּ צַדִּיקַיָּא, וְסַגְדִּין לְגַבֵּיהּ).
