One vision of crystal stood upon one sword (חַד חֵיזוֹ דִּבְדוֹלְחָא, קַיְּימָא עַל חַרְבָּא חַד), on the head of that youth—some say sword—flaming red from within the crystal (בְּרֵישָׁא דְּהַהוּא רַבְיָא [נ״א חַרְבָּא] מְלָהֲטָא סוּמָקָא מִגּוֹ בְּדוֹלְחָא). On two sides, from this side and that side, that sword was seen with deep engravings One mighty man, a world that stands upon thirteen worlds (חַד גְּבָר תַּקִּיף, עוֹלְמָא דְּקַיְּימָא בי״ג עָלְמִין), girded that sword to make vengeance (חַגִיר הַהוּא חַרְבָּא, לְמֶעְבַּד נוּקְמִין). With him were girded sixty others, all drawing forth (some say flashing), (some say unsheathing) victorious in battle This is what is written: Gird your sword upon your thigh, O mighty one, your glory and your majesty (Psalms 45). And it is written: All holding the sword, trained in war, etc. (Song of Songs 3).

In many aspects their faces change, and none knows them, except one worm that swims (some say dwells) among the fish of the sea All stones that it passes over are split At that time, the sound that goes out from those girded with the sword splits twelve mighty mountains (בְּהַהוּא זִמְנָא, קָלָא דְּנָפִיק מֵאִינּוּן דַּחֲגִירֵי חַרְבָּא, מְבָקַע תִּמְנֵיסָר טוּרִין רַבְרְבִין), and there is none who can incline his ear (וְלֵית מַאן דְּיַרְכִּין אוּדְנֵיהּ). All the world are with eyes closed, hearts stopped, none attending For this structure is to be destroyed, when deeds are done that are not bound together They deviate from the path of rectification, the right weakened, and the left rules—then nakedness is found

Woe to the guilty ones who cause this in the world, for they are not blessed above until those below are broken This is what is written: And the wicked are no more—bless Hashem, O my soul, HalleluYah (Psalms 104). (Here ends the section) (ע״כ).

(Leviticus 18) The nakedness of your father and the nakedness of your mother you shall not uncover Rabbi Chiyya opened: As the apple among the trees of the forest, so is my beloved among the sons, etc. (Song of Songs 2). This verse the companions have established, but how beloved is Knesset Yisrael before Kudsha Berikh Hu, that she praises Him with this

Here there is to contemplate, why she praises Him with the apple, and not with another word, or with colors, or with fragrance, or with taste But since it is written “apple,” with all she praises Him—in colors, in fragrance, and in taste As the apple is a healing for all, so too Kudsha Berikh Hu is a healing for all As the apple is found in colors, as we have established, so too Kudsha Berikh Hu is found in supernal colors As the apple has a finer fragrance than all other trees, so too concerning Kudsha Berikh Hu it is written: and his fragrance is like Lebanon (Hosea 14). As the apple’s taste is sweet, so too concerning Kudsha Berikh Hu it is written: his palate is sweet (Song of Songs 5). And Kudsha Berikh Hu praises Knesset Yisrael as a rose And we have already established these words, why as a rose, and it has been said

Rabbi Yehuda said: at the time that the righteous increase in the world, Knesset Yisrael raises good fragrances, and is blessed from the holy King, and her face shines But when the guilty increase in the world, then, as it were, Knesset Yisrael does not raise good fragrances, and she tastes from the other, bitter side Then it is written: He cast down from heaven to earth… and her face darkened

Rabbi Yosi said: at the time the righteous increase in the world, it is written: His left hand under my head, and His right hand embraces me (Song of Songs 2). But when the guilty increase in the world, it is written: He has withdrawn His right hand (Lamentations 2). Rabbi Chizkiyah said from here: and a whisperer separates the close friend—meaning, the King separates from the Matronita (Proverbs 16). This is what is written: The nakedness of your father and the nakedness of your mother you shall not uncover

Rabbi El'azar was sitting before his father He said to him: if there is an advocate in the world, it is found with the Matronita, and if there is an accuser in the world, it is found with the Matronita—why? He said to him: to a king who had a son from the Matronita—so long as that son did the will of the king, the king made his dwelling with the Matronita But whenever that son did not do the will of the king, the king separated his dwelling from the Matronita

So it is with Kudsha Berikh Hu and Knesset Yisrael: whenever Yisrael do the will of Kudsha Berikh Hu, He makes His dwelling in Knesset Yisrael But whenever Yisrael do not do His will, He does not make His dwelling in Knesset Yisrael What is the reason? Because Yisrael is the firstborn son of Kudsha Berikh Hu, as it is written: My son, My firstborn, Yisrael (מַאי טַעְמָא. (Exodus 4). The Mother—this is Knesset Yisrael, as it is written: Do not forsake the Torah of your mother
