Daf 136a (דַּף קל״ו ע״א)

Another matter: “This is the book of the generations of Adam” (דָּבָר אַחֵר זֶה סֵפֶר תּוֹלְדוֹת אָדָם), this is the book (זֶה סֵפֶר), for behold, how many books there are (דְּהָא כַמָּה סִפְרִין אִינוּן), the book of Rav Hamnuna Sava (סִפְרָא דְרַב הַמְנוּנָא סָבָא), the book of Enoch (סִפְרָא דַחֲנוֹךְ), the book of Rabbi Keruspedai (סִפְרָא דְרַבִּי כְּרוּסְפְּדָאי).

Come and see (תָּא חֲזִי), one day I happened to be in the place of Rabbi Keruspedai (יוֹמָא חַד אַעִִרַעִִנָא בַאֲתַר דְּרַבִּי כְּרוּסְפְּדָאי), I and the companions (אֲנָא וְחַבְרַיָּיא), and the mother of Rabbi Keruspedai prepared for us a lamp with seven wicks (וְתַקִּינַת לָן אִמֵּיהּ דְּרַבִּי כְּרוּסְפְּדָאי מְנַרְתָּא בְּשִׁבְעָה בּוֹצִינִין), and she brought out the book of Rabbi Keruspedai (וְאַפֵּקַת סִפְרָא דְרַבִּי כְּרוּסְפְּדָאי). When they would read in this book, thus would the hosts of angels descend to attend to them (כִּי הֲווֹ קָרָאן בְּסִפְרָא דָא הָכִי הֲווֹ נָחֲתִין חַיָּילָא דְמַלְאָכַיָּא לְסַחֲרָא לוֹן), like human beings gathering to a wedding canopy with the delights of bridegroom and bride (כִּבְנֵי נָשָׁא דְמִתְקַבְּצִין לְחוּפָּה בְּמַזְמוּטֵי חָתָן וְכַלָּה). And Kudsha Berikh Hu would descend with all His camps (וְקוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא הֲוָה נָחִית בְּכָל מַשִּׁרְיָין דִּילֵיהּ) to hear words from that book (לְמִשְׁמַע מִלִּין מֵהַהוּא סִפְרָא). And the fathers of Rabbi Keruspedai, with them Kudsha Berikh Hu would descend with him (וַאֲבוֹי דְרַבִּי כְּרוּסְפְּדָאי הֲוָה נָחִית לֵיהּ קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא עִמֵּיהּ), to hear the words of the sayings of Rabbi Keruspedai (לְמִשְׁמַע מִלִּין דִּבְרֵיהּ רַבִּי כְּרוּסְפְּדָאי). And this night was the night of Shavuot (וְלֵילְיָא דָא לֵיל דְּשָׁבוּעוֹת הֲוָה), and thus was Kudsha Berikh Hu rejoicing in these words like the day when the Orayta was given on Mount Sinai (וְהָכִי הֲוָה חָדֵי קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא בְּאִלֵּין מִלִּין כְּיוֹמָא דְאִתְיְיהִיבַת אוֹרַיְיתָא בְטוּרָא דְסִינַי).

One night it occurred to us to be guests in the house of the mother of Rabbi Keruspedai (לֵילְיָא חֲדָא אִזְדַּמַּן לָן לְמֶהֱוֵי אוֹשְׁפִּיזִין בְּבֵית אִמֵּיהּ דְּרַבִּי כְּרוּסְפְּדָאי), and she prepared for us a table and a lamp (וְתַקִּינַת לָן פָּתוֹרָא וּמְנַרְתָּא), and Rabbi Keruspedai had gathered to that world (וַהֲוָה רַבִּי כְּרוּסְפְּדָאי אִתְכַּנַּשׁ לְהַהוּא עָלְמָא). His mother said, Rabbis (אָמְרַת אִמֵּיהּ רַבָּנָן), behold, were you not accustomed to sit at this table not without Orayta (וְהָא לָא הֲוִיתוּן שַׁרְיָין לְפָתוֹרָא דָא בְלָא אוֹרַיְיתָא), what has changed this time from the other times (מַאי אִשְׁתַּנִּי זִמְנָא דָא מִשְּׁאָר זִמְנִין). I said to the companions, let us open with matters of Orayta (אֲמֵינָא לְחַבְרַיָּא נִפְתַּח בְּמִילֵי דְאוֹרַיְיתָא), so that stumbling not come to this poor woman through our hands (דְלָא יֵיתֵי תַּקָּלָה לְהַאי עַנְיָא עַל יְדָנָא), for if she knew that her son is dead, stumbling would come through our hands and she would die before her time (דְּאִם יָדְעַת דִּבְרָהּ אִיהוּ מֵת, יֵיתֵי תַּקָּלָה עַל יְדָנָא וְתָמוּת קֳדָם זִמְנָהּ). I will open in the Orayta (אֶפְתַּח בְּאוֹרַיְיתָא).
