The Eighth Tikkun (תִּקּוּנָא תְּמִינָאָה)
This is the Twenty-Eighth Tikkun
“Bereshit” (בְּרֵאשִׁית), this is the well (דָּא בְּאֵר) - some say: the well of six (נ״א: בְּאֵר שִׁית). And they are two (וְאִינוּן תְּרֵין): one, as it is written (Numbers 21:18) (חַד): “The well that the princes dug, that the nobles of the people carved” (בְּאֵר חֲפָרוּהָ שָׂרִים כָּרוּהָ נְדִיבֵי הָעָם). One is the well of which it is said (Bereshit 26:21) (חַד אִיהוּ בְּאֵר דְּאִתְּמַר בָּהּ): “And they quarreled also about it” (וַיָּרִיבוּ גַּם עָלֶיהָ). And the second: another well, and they did not quarrel about it The well that they quarreled about - this is the Oral Orayta (בְּאֵר דְּרָבוּ עָלֶיהָ דָּא אוֹרַיְיתָא דִבְעַל פֶּה), of which it is said (Bereshit 26:20) (דְּאִתְּמַר בָּהּ): “And the shepherds of Gerar quarreled with the shepherds of Yitzchak, saying, ‘The water is ours’” (וַיָּרִיבוּ רוֹעֵי גְרָר עִם רוֹעֵי יִצְחָק לֵאמֹר לָנוּ הַמָּיִם). These oppose those, and these dispute with those These declare pure, and these declare impure These disqualify, and these validate These forbid, and these permit In six directions (בְּשִׁית סִטְרִין). And these are “Bereshit bara shit” - in the beginning He created six
The Ninth Tikkun (תִּקּוּנָא תִּשִׁיעָאָה)
This is the Twenty-Ninth Tikkun
“Bereshit: Created Six” directions of prohibition and permission (בְּרֵאשִׁית בָּרָא שִׁית סִטְרִין דְּאִסּוּר וְהֶתֵּר), as we said (כִּדְקָאַמְרָן). And about it, it is said (וַעֲלֵיהּ אִתְּמַר) (Numbers 14:17): “And now, let the power of Adonai be great” (וְעַתָּה יִגְדַּל נָא כֹּחַ אדנ״י). And this is the twenty-eight letters of the work of Bereshit In this (some say: in that) twenty-eight Talmidei Chakhamim (Torah scholars) (Bereshit 26:22): “And they dug another well, and they did not quarrel over it” (וַיַּחְפְּרוּ בְּאֵר אַחֶרֶת וְלֹא רָבוּ עָלֶיהָ). This is Halakha to Moshe from Sinai, Kabbalah to Moshe from Sinai And Moshe, for her sake, at the time Kudsha Berikh Hu said to him: “There is no peace in your city” (וּמֹשֶׁה בְּגִינָהּ בְּזִמְנָא דְאָמַר לֵיהּ קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא אֵין שָׁלוֹם בְּעִירָךְ), said: “And now, let the power of Adonai be great” (אָמַר וְעַתָּה יִגְדַּל נָא כֹּחַ אדנ״י). And this is the Talmud, of which it is said to Moshe: “Moshe received Torah from Sinai” (וְאִיהִי תַּלְמוּד דְּאִתְּמַר לְמֹשֶׁה, מֹשֶׁה קִבֵּל תּוֹרָה מִסִּינַי).
The Mishnah is her handmaid This becomes Halakha, which is the daughter of the King, a garment And the daughter of the King is the bat kol from within And the baraita is her handmaid from without And these two support the daughter of the King in exile, Mishnah and Baraita And there is an evil handmaid, who is called Sitnah This is what is written (הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב) (Bereshit 26:21): “And he called its name Sitnah” (וַיִּקְרָא אֶת שְׁמָהּ שִׂטְנָה). The wife of the serpent, who is Satan And this is dispute and difficulty And about it, it is said (וַעֲלָהּ אִתְּמַר) (Exodus 1:14): “And they embittered their lives with hard service” (וַיְמָרְרוּ אֶת חַיֵּיהֶם בַּעֲבוֹדָה קָשָׁה). Surely this is difficulty With “chomer” this is kal va-chomer This is the twisted serpent, dispute At times it is light, in the subjugation of Yisrael when their sins are light upon them And at times it is heavy and weighty And from his side it is said (וּמִסִּטְרָא דִילֵיהּ) (Exodus 5:9): “Let the work be made heavier” (תִּכְבַּד הָעֲבֹדָה).
And the serpent goes in difficulty and dispute (וְנָחָשׁ אִיהוּ אָזִיל בְּקוּשְׁיָא וּמַחֲלוֹקֶת), like the waves of the sea (כְּגַוְונָא דְגַלֵּי יַמָּא). Like this, when a man thinks that he is in difficulty and dispute at the end of the Mishnah, he finds it at the beginning And when he thinks it is at the beginning, he finds it at the end And afterward it divides in the middle of the Mishnah “And they dug another well” - this is the Pesikta There are found the halakhic decisions, and this is the resolution “And they did not quarrel over it, and he called its name Rechovot” (וְלֹא רָבוּ עָלֶיהָ וַיִּקְרָא שְׁמָהּ רְחוֹבוֹת). And these rulings and resolutions are bricks, which are the clarification of halakha And this is “and with bricks” (וְדָא אִיהוּ וּבִלְבֵנִים). “And with all labor in the field” - surely this is baraita About it, it is said (דַעֲלָהּ אִתְּמַר) (Deuteronomy 22:27): “For in the field he found her, etc.” “All their labor” - this is Mishnah A second handmaid is Baraita “Which they made them serve with rigor” - all depends until Eliyahu comes This is the third handmaid, which is called avodah A certain child arose, opened and said (קָם יְנוּקָא חֲדָא, פָּתַח וְאָמַר) (Job 32:6): “I am young in days, and you are aged” (צָעִיר אֲנִי לְיָמִים וְאַתֶּם יְשִׁישִׁים).
