And these are the five knots (וְאִינוּן ה׳ קִשְׁרִין), corresponding to “Shema Yisrael Hashem Eloheinu Hashem” (Deuteronomy 6:4) (לָקֳבֵל שְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵל יְיָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ יְיָ), which correspond to the five strings of the harp of David, that played by itself (דְּאִינוּן לָקֳבֵל ה׳ נִימִין דְּכִנוֹר דְּדָוִד דְּהָיָה מְנַגֵּן מֵאֵלָיו). Thirteen links, in the reckoning of “one” (י״ג חֻלְיָין כְּחֻשְׁבַּן אֶחָד), for the voice of melody ascends in “one” (דְּקָלָא דְנִגּוּנָא סָלְקָא בְאֶחָד). And this is chai between the links and the knots (וְדָא חַ״י בֵּין חֻלְיָין וְקִשְׁרִין), to every side they ascend seventy-two (לְכָל סְטַר סָלְקִין ע״ב). And this is: “And in mercy shall the throne be established” (Isaiah 16:5) (וְדָא אִיהוּ וְהוּכַן בַּחֶסֶד כִּסֵּא), Chesed seventy-two (חֶסֶד ע״ב). Whoever wraps himself in the wrapping of mitzvah, it is as if he establishes the throne of Kudsha Berikh Hu And these are YAHDVNHY (וְאִינוּן יאהדונה״י). To each, four faces and four wings ascend sixty-four And the eight letters of YAHDVNHY ascend seventy-two And the wings of mitzvah teach a mystery (וְכַנְפֵי מִצְוָה אוֹלְפִין רָזָא), which are eight threads to every side (דְּאִינוּן ח׳ חוּטִין לְכָל סְטַר), corresponding to the four faces and four wings of every Chayah (לָקֳבֵל אַרְבַּע אַנְפִּין וְאַרְבַּע גַּדְפִין דְּכָל חַיָּה). And in the small reckoning of Chanokh, “az (then/8)” is Shaddai (314;3+1+4=8) “Then shall sing (az yashir)” in every place And the masters of Mishnah said (וְאָמְרוּ מָארֵי מַתְנִיתִין): whoever diminishes should not diminish less than seven (כָּל מָאן דְּפָחִית לָא יִפְחוֹת מִשֶּׁבַע), and whoever adds should not add more than thirteen (וְכָל מָאן דְּאוֹסִיף לָא יוֹסִיף עַל י״ג). And these seven correspond to the seven days of Bereshit (וְאִינוּן שֶׁבַע לָקֳבֵל שֶׁבַע יְמֵי בְרֵאשִׁית), which hint to the seven names ABGYTTZ, etc. Concerning them it is said: “Seraphim stood above Him, each one had six wings” (Isaiah 6:2) With them the prayer flies upward And these are there forty-two (וְאִנּוּן תַּמָּן מ״ב), corresponding to the forty-two mentions of the Name that are in the tefillin of the hand and the tefillin of the head (לָקֳבֵל מ״ב אַזְכָּרוֹת דְּאִינוּן בִּתְפִלִּין דְּיָד וּתְפִלִּין דְּרֵישָׁא). And concerning them it is said: “And all the peoples of the earth shall see that the Name of Hashem…” And these are the adornments of the bride (וְאִינוּן תַּכְשִׁיטִין דְּכַלָּה): the tefillin of the head are a crown of gold upon the head of the bride (תְּפִלִּין דְּרֵישָׁא עֲטֶרֶת זָהָב בְּרֵישָׁא דְכַלָּה), and the tefillin of the hand are the ring of the arm (וּתְפִלִּין דְּיָד טַבַּעַת דִּדְרוֹעָא).

Behold, the bride is adorned with her adornments She must call her bridegroom This is what is written: “Shema Yisrael” (Deuteronomy 6:4) And behold, these are under the wedding canopy The holy people must stand in standing before them (צְרִיכִין עַמָּא קַדִּישָׁא לְמֵיקַם בַּעֲמִידָה קֳדָמֵיהוֹן), with the Hazzan, to bless them with the seven blessings (עִם חַזָּן, לְבָרְכָא לוֹן בְּשֶׁבַע בִּרְכָאָן), and to sanctify the groom to the bride first with Kiddushin (וּלְקַדְשָׁא הֶחָתָן לְכַלָּה בְּקַדְמֵיתָא בְקִדּוּשִׁין). And when the holy people stand and the Hazzan blesses them (וּבְעָמְדָם עַמָּא קַדִּישָׁא וְחַזָּן לְבָרְכָא לוֹן), the holy chayot, who were singing with their wings, let their wings droop (חֵיוָון קַדִּישִׁין דַּהֲווֹ מְנַגְּנִין בְּגַדְפַיְיהוּ תְּרַפֶּינָה כַנְפֵיהֶן).

The Shin of the tefillin is the supernal Imma Concerning her it is said: “And all the peoples of the earth shall see that the Name of Hashem is called upon you, and they shall fear you” (Deuteronomy 28:10) Shin ascends in its letters, three hundred and sixty The Heh of the hand, weak, is three hundred and sixty-five And the 248 commandments are included in the 248 words of the recitation of Shema in the four paragraphs Behold the 613 (הָא תַּרְיַ״ג). Concerning them it is said: “This is My Name forever, and this is My remembrance to every generation” (Exodus 3:15) “My Name” with Yod-Heh is three hundred and sixty-five “My remembrance” with Vav-Heh is 248 (זִכְרִי עִם ו״ה רַמַ״ח). And all together are 613 (וְכֹלָּא תַּרְיַ״ג).

The Orayta is the Name of Kudsha Berikh Hu And furthermore, the tzitzit are the Throne Tefillin are Kudsha Berikh Hu who descends upon the Throne They call Him in the recitation of Shema Behold, Kudsha Berikh Hu sits upon the Throne They must stand before Him in the prayer of the Amidah Her three hosts come with songs, praises, and hymns At that time, when He is upon His Throne (בְּהַהוּא זִמְנָא דְאִיהוּ עַל כָּרְסְיֵיהּ), what do they say: “God, King, who sits on the throne of mercy and conducts Himself with kindness” (מָה אָמְרִין אֵ״ל מֶלֶךְ יוֹשֵׁב עַל כִּסֵּא רַחֲמִים וּמִתְנַהֵג בַּחֲסִידוּת). This arrangement is for the completely righteous (הַאי תִּקּוּנָא אִיהוּ לְגַבֵּי צַדִּיקִים גְּמוּרִים), who prepare the Throne for Kudsha Berikh Hu with the tzitzit (דִּמְתַקְּנִין כָּרְסַיָּא לְקוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא בְצִיצִית), and they cause Him to descend with tefillin (וְנָחֲתִין לֵיהּ בִּתְפִלִּין), and they stand before Him in prayer (וְקַיְימִין קֳדָמוֹהִי בִצְלוֹתָא). For the intermediates, tzitzit and tefillin are like the ox for the yoke and the donkey for the burden And concerning them on Shabbat it is said: “In order that your ox and your donkey may rest” (Exodus 23:12) For the wicked, they are a binding to all their accusers For so it is, these are the ten crowns below For this one corresponds to that one, created by Kudsha Berikh Hu But the crowns below are shells compared to the crowns above (אֲבָל כִּתְרִין תַּתָּאִין אִינוּן קְלִיפִין לְגַבֵּי כִּתְרִין עִלָּאִין), which are clothed with the ten letters in prayer (דְּמִתְלַבְּשִׁין בְּהוֹן עֲשַׂר אַתְוָון בִּצְלוֹתָא), to be subdued beneath the crowns below (לְמֶהֱוִי כְּפוּיִין תְּחוֹתוֹי כִּתְרִין תַּתָּאִין). And at the time that the Righteous prepare themselves with the wings of mitzvah and with tefillin (וּבְזִמְנָא דְצַדִּיקַיָּא מְתַקְּנִין בְּכַנְפֵי מִצְוָה וּבִתְפִלִּין), the lower crowns are subdued beneath them (אִתְכַּפְיָין תְּחוֹתַיְיהוּ כִּתְרִין תַּתָּאִין).

At that time the King enters into His palace, which is Adonai (בְּהַהוּא זִמְנָא יֵעוּל מַלְכָּא בְּהֵיכָלֵיהּ דְּאִיהוּ אֲדֹנָי), in the likeness of this YAHDVNHY (כְּגַוְונָא דָא יאהדונה״י). Behold the King in His palace Whoever seeks to ask his requests may enter And for this it is written: “Adonai, open my lips” (Psalms 51:17) With the first three, a man must order his praises (בִּתְלַת קַדְמָאִין יְסַדֵּר בַּר נַשׁ שְׁבָחוֹי), like a servant who arranges praises before his master (כְּעַבְדָא דִמְסַדֵּר שְׁבָחוֹי קֳדָם רַבֵּיהּ). For these three write all merits (דְאִלֵּין תְּלַת כָּתְבִין כָּל זַכְוָון), and the last three seal them (וּתְלַת בַּתְרָאִין חָתְמִין). And for this reason a man must be in them like a servant who receives a gift from his master and goes his way For there is the house of receiving the seal of the binding, and this is the Holy Malkhut

In the middle one must ask (בְּאֶמְצָעִיּוֹת צָרִיךְ לְמִשְׁאַל), for there are two vavs, one is master of writing and one is master of sealing (דְּתַמָּן ו׳ ו׳, חַד מָארֵי כְּתִיבָה וְחַד מָארֵי חֲתִימָה). And these are the upper Vav and the lower Vav (וְאִינוּן ו׳ עִלָּאָה ו׳ תַּתָּאָה), which include twelve joints (כְּלִילָן תְּרֵין עֲשַׂר פִּרְקִין): the first three are the head (תְּלַת קַדְמָאִין רֵישָׁא), and the two arms (וּתְרֵין דְּרוֹעִין); the last three are the body (תְּלַת בַּתְרָאִין גּוּפָא), and the two legs (וּתְרֵין שׁוֹקִין). Behold, he is dismissed from the King For this reason he must take three steps backward And the secret of the matter: “And he gathered up his feet into the bed” (Bereshit 49:33)
