He said to him: If so, why did the earth sin against the Tzaddik, who is the Ninth He said to him: Because the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil is like the covenant (אָמַר לֵיהּ בְּגִין דְּעִץ הַדַּעַת טוֹב וָרָע אִיהוּ כְּגַוְונָא דִּבְרִית), the sign of the covenant: within, good; the foreskin, evil (אוֹת בְּרִית מִלְּגָאו טוֹב עָרְלָה רָע), this is within and this is without (דָּא מִלְּגָאו וְדָא מִלְּבָר). And because the guilt of the Tree of Knowledge caused separation between the Tzaddik and the Shekhinta (וּבְגִין דְּחוֹבָא דְעִץ הַדַּעַת גָּרִים פִּרוּדָא בֵּין צַדִּיק וּשְׁכִינְתָּא), because of this the earth received nine (בְּגִין דָּא לָקַאת אַרְעָא תִּשְׁעָה). And those who sinned in the Shekhinta, who is the Tenth, received ten, ten

And come and see: there are seven earths: Eretz [earth], Adamah [ground], Arka [earth], Gei [valley], Neshiyah [forgetfulness], Tziyah [wasteland], and Tevel [world] (וְתָא חֲזִי שִׁבְעָה אַרְעִין אִינוּן אֶרֶץ אֲדָמָה אַרְקָא גֵּיא נְשִׁיָּה צִיָּה תֵּבֵל). And Adam sinned with Bat-Sheva And it is said of him: “For seven times a Tzaddik falls” (Proverbs 24:16) He contemplated teshuvah, and it is said of him: “And he shall rise” (Proverbs 24:16) And he ascended (וַהֲוָה סָלִיק). And when he descended there, he was making deeds and offspring in every earth And in each earth some were sprouting, and some were not sprouting And there are creatures with two heads, and some with three up to seven And there is a place where the sun, moon, stars, and constellations shine And there is a place where there is no light at all, only darkness and shadow

Thus are those who descend into the seven kinds of poverty Some of them have no light at all, for all their days they are in poverty And some of them have light all their days, and they are in wealth And some of them sometimes have light and sometimes darkness; these are those born in the middle of the moon, intermediates Sometimes they have wealth and ascend, and sometimes poverty and descend And there are others who produce offspring and succeed, and some who do not succeed And some of them succeed-some say sprout-until half their days, and die prematurely Those born in the fullness of the moon sprout, live, and complete all their days And those born in the waning of the moon do not sprout and die immediately And those born in the middle of the moon are cut off in half their days And there are earths about which it is said: “And the pit was empty, there was no water in it” (Bereshit 37:24) There was no water in it, but snakes and scorpions were in it So too, there are creatures who are the Amei ha’aretz (אוּף הָכִי אִית בִּרְיָין דְּאִינוּן עַמֵּי הָאָרֶץ), whose houses are full of angels of destruction (דְּבָתֵּיהוֹן מַלְיָין מַלְאֲכֵי חַבָּלָה), which are snakes and scorpions (דְאִינוּן נְחָשִׁים וְעַקְרַבִּים), and they bite them with many bites of afflictions (וְנָשְׁכִין לוֹן בְּכַמָּה נִשּׁוּכִין דְּיִסּוּרִין), which they caused before they came into the world (דְּאִינוּן גָּרְמוּ קֳדָם דְּיֵיתוּן לְעָלְמָא). Because they came in gilgul in these bodies and in these houses And when these snakes and scorpions bite them with many afflictions, they cry out: woe, woe And they have strife for all of them in the house And they cry out with those masters of Gehinnom, in which they are judged And there are others whose whole life is in joy and peace, without any sadness at all From all that increased in the seven earths And they were judged in the seven dwellings of Gehinnom And there are among men in this manner And the sages of these secrets - to them it was handed over to know

The Sixty-Fifth Tikkun

Bereshit bara Elohim (בְּרֵאשִׁית בָּ׳רָ׳א אֱלֹהִי״ם), the beginning and end of the letters are Alef–Bet and Alef–Mem, there are Yod–Heh (רִישֵׁי תֵּיבִין וְסוֹפֵי תֵּיבִין א״ב וַא״ם תַּמָּן דְּאִינוּן י״ה). There is the Mother (תַּמָּן אֵם). And the secret of the matter: “And Adam called the name of his wife Chavah, for she was the mother of all life” (Bereshit 3:20) In the likeness of that of which it is said: “For if to Binah you will call” (Proverbs 2:3) This “Mother of all life” is not like the first woman (הַאי אֵם כָּל חָי לָאו אִיהִי כְּאִתְּתָא קַדְמָאָה), of whom it is said: “The woman whom You gave to be with me” (Bereshit 3:12) (דְאִתְּמַר בָּהּ הָאִשָּׁה אֲשֶׁר נָתַתָּ עִמָּדִי), who caused death to the whole world (דְגָרְמַת מִיתָה לְכָל עָלְמָא). For this one is written “Mother of all life” (דְּהָא אֵם כָּל חָי כְּתִיב בָּהּ), as it is said: “See life with the woman whom you love” (Ecclesiastes 9:9) (דְּאִתְּמַר בָּהּ רְאֵה חַיִּים עִם אִשָּׁה אֲשֶׁר אָהָבְתָּ).

Rabbi El'azar said to him: And did he have two women He said to him: Yes, one the good inclination and one the evil inclination One is from the side of the bone, strong, harsh judgment (חֲדָא מִסִּטְרָא דְעִצֶם תַּקִּיפָא דִּינָא קַשְׁיָא), and one is from the side of the flesh (וַחֲדָא מִסִּטְרָא דְבִשְׂרָא). From there are those soft of heart (מִתַּמָּן אִינוּן רַכִּיכֵי לִבָּא), and those of bone are the hard ones of skull (וְאִינוּן דְּגַרְמָא אִינוּן קְשֵׁי קְדָל). And concerning the woman taken from the bone, Ben Sira said: “The bone that falls in your lot, good or evil, draw it” (וְעַל אִתְּתָא דְאִתְנְטִילַת מִגַּרְמָא אָמַר בֶּן סִירָא, גַרְמָא דְנָפִיל בְּחוּלָקָךְ טַב אוֹ בִישׁ גַּרְרֵיהּ). And concerning the woman of the bone Adam said: “The woman whom You gave to be with me” (וְעַל אִתְּתָא דְגַרְמָא אָמַר אָדָם הָאִשָּׁה אֲשֶׁר נָתַתָּ עִמָּדִי). He did not call her his wife (לָא קְרָא לָהּ אִתְּתֵיהּ), unlike Chavah, of whom it is said: “And Adam called the name of his wife Chavah” (Bereshit 3:20) (כְּגַוְונָא דְחַוָּה דְאִתְּמַר בָּהּ וַיִּקְרָא הָאָדָם שֵׁם אִשְׁתּוֹ חַוָּה). For the other was a maidservant, from the side of the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil (דְּאָחֳרָא שִׁפְחָה הֲוַת דְּמִסִּטְרָא דְעֵץ הַדַּעַת טוֹב וָרָע), one evil and one good (חֲדָא רַע וַחֲדָא טוֹב). And from the side of the Tree of Life, both are life
