The gate of Ze’ir Anpin and Nukvah

וְהוּא שַׁעַר זְעֵיר וְנוּקְבֵיהּ

In it shall be explained the construction of Ze’ir Anpin and Nukvah (בּוֹ יִתְבָּאֵר בִּנְיַן זְעֵיר אַנְפִּין וְנוּקְבֵיהּ), and it is a gate of very great value (וְהוּא שַׁעַר יְקַר הָעֵרֶךְ מְאֹד), and its entirety includes First Katnut [Smallness], and Second Katnut [Smallness], First Gadlut [Greatness], and Second Gadlut [Greatness] (וּכְלָלוֹ קַטְנוּת רִאשׁוֹן וְקַטְנוּת שֵׁנִי גַּדְלוּת רִאשׁוֹן גַּדְלוּת שֵׁנִי), and afterward until the age of eighteen years for the Chuppah [Wedding Canopy] (וְאַחַר כָּךְ עַד זְמַן י״ח שָׁנָה לַחֻפָּה), when Ze’ir Anpin will be fit to unite and beget offspring (שֶׁיִּהְיֶה רָאוּי זְעֵיר אַנְפִּין לְהִזְדַּוֵּג וּלְהוֹלִיד), and these Katnut and Gadlut states mentioned (וְאֵלּוּ הַקַּטְנוּת וְהַגַּדְלוּת הַנִּזְכָּרִים), occur every day (הֵם בְּכָל יוֹם), and now we shall explain them according to their proper order (וְעַתָּה נְבָאֵר אוֹתָן עַל מַתְכֻנְתָּם), with the help of the Holy One, blessed be He, and His Shekhinah (בְּעֶזְרַת קב״ה וּשְׁכִינְתֵּיהּ), and with the help of Atik Yomin (וּבְעֶזְרַת עַתִּיק יוֹמַיָּיא).

And all of it is through Imma Ila’ah [Supernal Mother] (וְהַכֹּל עַל יְדֵי אִמָּא עִלָּאָה), who is called Mi [Who] (הַנִּקְרֵאת מִי), who improves the child (הַמְשַׁפֶּרֶת אֶת הַוָּלָד), namely her son (דְּהַיְינוּ בְנָהּ), and he always appears in her eyes as though he requires rectification (וְתָמִיד נִרְאֶה בְּעֵינֶיהָ כְּאִלּוּ צָרִיךְ תִּיקּוּן), and concerning this it is said (וְעַל זֶה נֶאֱמַר), who shall raise Yaakov, for he is small (מִי יָקוּם יַעֲקֹב כִּי קָטֹן הוּא) (Amos 7:2). The small one shall become great (הַקָּטֹן גָּדוֹל יִהְיֶה) (Brit Milah liturgical poem), and he is called Na’ar Yisrael [Youthful Israel] (וְנִקְרָא נַעַר יִשְׂרָאֵל), and below, corresponding to him, is the youth Metatron (וּלְמַטָּה כְּנֶגְדּוֹ נַעַר מֶטַטְרוֹן), who builds the house of his brother (הַבּוֹנֶה בֵּית אָחִיו), in the secret of Yibbum [Levirate Marriage] (בְּסוֹד הַיִּבּוּם), which is the exile (שֶׁהוּא הַגָּלוּת). And through the prayers of Yisrael and their good deeds (וְעַל יְדֵי תְּפִלּוֹתֵיהֶם שֶׁל יִשְׂרָאֵל וּמַעֲשֵׂיהֶם הַטּוֹבִים), Ze’ir Anpin grows (מִתְגַּדֵּל זְעֵיר אַנְפִּין), through Mayin Nukvin [female waters] (עַל יְדֵי מַיִן נוּקְבִין), which they bring and which arouse Mayin Dukhrin [male waters] (הַמְּבִיאִים וּמְעוֹרְרִים מַיִן דּוּכְרִין), that pour forth abundance and blessing, life to the world (הַמְרִיקִים שֶׁפַע וּבְרָכָה חַיִּים לָעוֹלָם).
