Daf 52a (דַּף נ״ב ע״א)

As stated in the Zohar, Vayakhel (כַּאֲמוּר בַּזֹּהַר וַיַּקְהֵל), “The abode of Fire is covered on the Shabbat” (מְדוֹרָא דְאֶשָּׁא אִתְכַּסְיָיא בְּשַׁבְּתָא), and it is not the will of the Holy One, blessed be He, that this should be so during the six weekdays (וְאֵינוֹ רְצוֹן הַקָּבָּ״ה שֶׁיִּהְיֶה כָּךְ בְּשֵׁשֶׁת יְמֵי הַמַּעֲשֶׂה), therefore it is certainly not fitting that, during this exile, the profane should rule over the Darkness and abolish it completely (לָכֵן וַדַּאי אֵינוֹ מִן הָרָאוּי בַּגָּלוּת הַחֹל הַזֶּה לִשְׁלֹט עַל הַחֹשֶׁךְ לְבַטְּלוֹ מִכָּל וָכֹל), rather in the future this Darkness will be utterly abolished (אֶלָּא לֶעָתִיד לָבוֹא יִהְיֶה בִּטּוּל גָּמוּר לַחֹשֶׁךְ הַזֶּה), therefore the Name Elohim Chayim [Living Elohim] rules over it (וְלָכֵן שׁוֹלֵט בּוֹ שֵׁם אֱלֹהִים חַיִּים), from which the Other Elohim emerge (שֶׁמִּמֶּנּוּ בָּא אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים), which is called Darkness (הַנִּקְרָא חֹשֶׁךְ), and from it comes the soul of the seed of Esav the Wicked (וּמִמֶּנָּה נִשְׁמַת זַרְעָא דְּעֵשָׂו הָרָשָׁע), as it is said, “The wicked shall be silenced in darkness” (שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר וּרְשָׁעִים בַּחֹשֶׁךְ יִדָּמּוּ) (I Samuel 2:9), for it is the expression, “he withheld from me nothing” (כִּי הוּא לְשׁוֹן חָשַׂךְ מִמֶּנִּי מְאוּמָה) (Genesis 39:9), because the fire of desire of this Darkness restrains the wicked from every good thing written in the Torah (כִּי אֵשׁ הַתַּאֲוָה שֶׁל הַחֹשֶׁךְ הַזֶּה מוֹנֵעַ אֶת הָרָשָׁע מִכָּל טוֹב הַכָּתוּב בַּתּוֹרָה), and it is the fire of burning desire (וְהוּא אֵשׁ חִמּוּם הַתַּאֲוָה), and this is why it says, “Not in the Fire was Havayah” (וְזֶהוּ שֶׁאוֹמֵר לֹא בָאֵשׁ יהו״ה) (I Kings 19:12), certainly not, but rather the Name Elohim (וַדַּאי רַק שֵׁם אֱלֹהִים), and understand this (וְהָבֵן). And this is the meaning of, “Elohim rules over it from the side of Darkness” (וְזֶהוּ אוֹמְרוֹ אֱלֹהִים שָׁלְטָא בֵּיהּ מִסִּטְרָא דְּחֹשֶׁךְ), its explanation is: the Darkness emerged from Elohim until the name Other Elohim was formed from it (פֵּרוּשׁ כִּי הַחֹשֶׁךְ נָפַק מֵאֱלֹהִים עַד שֶׁנַּעֲשָׂה מִמֶּנּוּ שֵׁם אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים), and since it comes from its side, it rules over it (וּמֵאַחַר שֶׁהוּא מִצִּדּוֹ שָׁלְטָא בֵּיהּ), yet it subdues it because it has been sweetened with Yods, whose numerical value is Esh [Fire] (אֲבָל הוּא מַכְנִיעוֹ מֵאַחַר שֶׁהוּא מְמוּתָּק בְּיוּדִי״ן שֶׁעוֹלֶה אֵשׁ). “And after the Fire, a still, small Voice” (וְאַחַר הָאֵשׁ קוֹל דְּמָמָה דַקָּה) (I Kings 19:12), this is the cleaving of Havayah in the mystery of the Zivug [Union] of the Shekhinah, who is called Speech, namely “Blessed be the Name of the glory of His kingdom forever and ever” (הִיא דְּבֵקוּת הַהֲוָיָה בְּסוֹד הַזִּוּוּג שֶׁל הַשְּׁכִינָה שֶׁנִּקְרֵאת דִּבּוּר שֶׁל בשכמל״ו), which her servants brought to her quietly (שֶׁהֵבִיאוּ לָהּ עֲבָדֶיהָ בַּחֲשַׁאי) (Pesachim 56a), to cleave to the Voice, namely Ze'ir Anpin (לְהִתְדַּבֵּק בַּקּוֹל הוּא זְעֵיר), in the mystery of the unification of the verse, “Hear, O Yisrael” (בְּסוֹד יִחוּד פְּסוּק שְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵל), and then Kol [Voice] is the Name M"H in its squared form, whose numerical value is Kal [130] (וְאָז קוֹל הוּא שֵׁם מ״ה בְּרִבּוּעוֹ עוֹלֶה ק״ל), together with the Vav, which is Ze'ir Anpin, called Vav in every place (עִם ו׳ שֶׁהוּא זְעֵיר שֶׁנִּקְרָא וי״ו בְּכָל מָקוֹם), whose numerical value is Kol [Voice] (הוּא גִּי׳ קוֹ״ל), and two times B"N in Leah and Rachel, together with the final Heh of the Name Havayah, alluding to them both and including them (וּב׳ פְּעָמִים ב״ן בְּלֵאָה וְרָחֵל עִם ה׳ אַחֲרוֹנָה שֶׁל שֵׁם הוי״ה הָרוֹמֶזֶת אֶל שְׁתֵּיהֶן וְכוֹלֶלֶת אוֹתָם), equals Dakkah [Small] (עוֹלֶה דַּקָּה), and this is the subtle Speech that is not regarded as Speech, but rather as the Voice in silence, namely that of “Blessed be the Name of the glory of His kingdom forever and ever” (וְזֶהוּ הַדִּבּוּר הָרַק שֶׁאֵינוֹ נֶחְשָׁב לְדִבּוּר אֶלָּא קוֹל בַּחֲשַׁאי שֶׁהוּא שֶׁל בשכמל״ו), and understand this (וְהָבֵן).

“There is found here the Name Havayah (הָכָא אִשְׁתְּכַח שָׁם יהו״ה), consisting of four joints (ד׳ פַּרְקִין), here, which are the joints of the body and the known limbs (הָכָא דְּאִינוּן פִּרְקֵי גוּפָא וְאֵבָרִין יְדִיעִה), which are four (דְּאִינוּן אַרְבָּעָה), and they are twelve (וְאִינוּן תְּרֵיסַר), and here is engraved the Name of the twelve letters (וְהָכָא שְׁמָא גְּלִיפָא דִּתְרֵיסַר אַתְוָן), which was entrusted to Eliyahu in the cave (דְּאִתְמְסַר לְאֵלִיָּהוּ בִּמְעָרָה) (Zohar 16a).
