Daf 65b (דַּף ס״ה ע״ב)
But only by the name Nekudah [Point] (כִּי אִם בְּשֵׁם נְקוּדָּה), and this is the meaning of the verse, “Let there be Light” (וְזֶהוּ שֶׁאוֹמֵר הַפָּסוּק יְהִי אוֹר) (Genesis 1:3): what had previously been Avir [Air] should now become Ohr [Light] (מַה שֶׁהָיָה קֹדֶם אֲוִיר יִהְיֶה עַתָּה אוֹר), and this is the meaning of what the Zohar says, “It is the Ohr [Light]” (וְזֶהוּ שֶׁאוֹמֵר הַזֹּהַר דְּאִיהוּ אוֹר), for the command returned to the word Ohr [Light] to separate it from Avir [Air] (שֶׁחָזַר הַצִּוּוּי לְמִלַּת אוֹר לְהוֹצִיאוֹ מֵאֲוִיר), in order to divide General, Particular, and General (כְּדֵי לַחֲלוֹק כְּלָל וּפְרָט וּכְלָל), “And there was Light”—the Ohr [Light] that had already existed (וַיְהִי אוֹר אוֹר דְּכְבָר הֲוָה). Its explanation is: He contracted His Shekhinah and removed the Yod from the word Ohr [Light] of the Reshimu [Impression] of His Essence (פֵּי׳ שֶׁצִּמְצֵם שְׁכִינָתוֹ וְסִלֵּק הַיוֹ״ד מִן מִלַּת אוֹר שֶׁל רֹשֶׁם עַצְמוּתוֹ), and this Yod is called the Primordial Avir [Air] (וְהַיוֹ״ד הַזֹּאת נִקְרֵאת אֲוִיר קַדְמוֹן).
Know that when the Yod-Heh of the Spelling in Full of S"G [Sixty-Three], which comes from the Light of the Garment itself, descended below into the Avir [Air] (וְדַע כְּשֶׁיָּרְדָה הַיוֹ״ד ה״י שֶׁל מִלּוּי ס״ג שֶׁהוּא מֵאוֹר הַמַּלְבּוּשׁ עַצְמוֹ לְמַטָּה בָּאֲוִיר), the Yod-Heh of the Primordial Avir [Air], which came from the Reshimu [Impression], attached itself to it (נִדְבְּקָה ה״י שֶׁל אֲוִיר קַדְמוֹן שֶׁהִיא מִן רְשִׁימוּ עִמָּהּ), and formed the sphere of the Tehiru (וְעָשְׂתָה כַּדּוּר הַטְּהִירוּ), thus that place which had been Avir [Air], when the Yod departed from it by attaching itself to the Yod of the Light of the Garment, remained as the Ohr [Light] that had already existed (נִמְצָא שֶׁאוֹתוֹ מָקוֹם שֶׁהָיָה אֲוִיר בְּהִסְתַּלֵּק הַיוֹ״ד מִמֶּנּוּ כְּשֶׁנִּדְבְּקָה בְּי׳ שֶׁל אוֹר הַלְּבוּשׁ נִשְׁאַר אוֹר שֶׁכְּבָר הָיָה), for before the Yod entered between the Vav and the Resh of the word Ohr [Light], it too had been called Ohr [Light] and not Avir [Air] (כִּי מִקֹּדֶם שֶׁנִּכְנְסָה הַיוֹ״ד בֵּין וָי״ו לְרֵי״שׁ שֶׁל מִלַּת אוֹר גַּם כֵּן הָיְתָה נִקְרֵאת אוֹר וְלֹא אֲוִיר). From where does all this come (וּמֵהֵיכָן בָּא כָּל זֶה)? Therefore the Zohar says, “This is the hidden mystery, the expansion that expanded and burst forth from the mystery of the secret of the Supernal Avir [Air], from its Avir [Air], and revealed this Yod-point; once this Yod expanded, what remained was found to be Ohr [Light]” (לָכֵן אוֹמֵר הַזֹּהַר דָּא רָזָא סְתִימוּ אִתְפַּשְּׁטוּתָא דְּאִתְפַּשַּׁט וְאִתְבְּקַע מֵרָזָא דְּסִתְרָא דַּאֲוִיר עִלָּאָה מֵאֲוִירָא דִּילֵיהּ וְגָלִי הַאי נְקוּדָּה י׳ כֵּיוָן דְּהַאי י׳ אִתְפַּשַּׁט מַה דְּאִשְׁתָּאַר אִשְׁתְּכַח אוֹר). That is to say, this is a hidden mystery, a concealed secret, and not every person is worthy to reveal it (ר״ל זֶהוּ רָזָא סְתִימָא סוֹד הַסָּתוּם וְאֵין כָּל אָדָם זוֹכֶה לְגַלּוֹתוֹ), and it is this: once the aforementioned Yod descended, the Yod of the Nekudah [Point], which had stood between the Vav and the Resh and was the Reshimu [Impression] of the Ein Sof called Ohr [Light], attached itself to it (וְהוּא זֶה כֵּיוָן שֶׁהַיוֹ״ד הַנִּזְכָּר יָרְדָה נִדְבְּקָה עִמָּהּ הַיוֹ״ד שֶׁל נְקוּדָּה שֶׁהָיְתָה בֵּין וָי״ו לְרֵי״שׁ שֶׁהוּא רֹשֶׁם אֵין סוֹף הַנִּקְרָא אוֹר), and when it expanded below (וְכֵיוָן שֶׁנִּתְפַּשְּׁטָה לְמַטָּה), it took with it the Light of the Yod of the Primordial Avir [Air], called the Nekudah [Point] (לָקְחָה עִמָּהּ הָאוֹר שֶׁל הַיוֹ״ד שֶׁל אֲוִיר קַדְמוֹן הַנִּקְרָא נְקוּדָּה), it expanded and attached itself to it (נִתְפַּשְּׁטָה וְנִדְבְּקָה עִמָּהּ), and burst forth from its mystery and from its hiddenness, where it had been concealed within the mystery of the Supernal Avir [Air] between the Vav and the Resh (וְאִתְבְּקַע מִסּוֹדוֹ וּמִגְּנִיזָתוֹ שֶׁהָיְתָה גְּנוּזָה וּסְתוּרָה בְּסִתְרָא דַּאֲוִיר עִלָּאָה בֵּין וָי״ו לְרֵי״שׁ), and it burst open within the Avir [Air], taking with it the Yod of the Nekudah [Point] (וְהִיא בָּקְעָה בְּתוֹךְ הָאֲוִיר וְלָקְחָה הַיוֹ״ד שֶׁל נְקוּדָּה עִמָּהּ), “what remained was found to be Ohr [Light]” (מַה דְּאִשְׁתָּאַר אִשְׁתְּכַח אוֹר), because once this Yod-point was revealed (כֵּיוָן דְּגָלִי הַאי נְקוּדָּה שֶׁל י׳), and it was no longer hidden between the Vav and the Resh (וְלָאו אִיהִי סָתוּם בֵּין וָי״ו לְרֵי״שׁ), and it went outside (וְיָצָאתָה לַחוּץ), it became revealed (הָיְתָה נִגְלֵית).
