The Seventh Discourse: Zohar I, 16b

מַאֲמָר שְׁבִיעִי: זֹהַר א, טז ע״ב

“And Elohim said, ‘Let there be Light,’ and there was Light” (וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים יְהִי אוֹר וַיְהִי אוֹר) (Zohar 16b/Genesis 1:3). Its explanation is: the Yod of the Name S"G brought forth the doubled MNTZPKH letters from the simple letters of the Two Hundred and Thirty-One Gates (פֵּרוּשׁוֹ הַיוֹ״ד שֶׁל שֵׁם ס״ג הִיא הוֹצִיאָה אוֹתִיּוֹת מנצפ״ך הַכְּפוּלִים מִן הַפְּשׁוּטִים שֶׁבְּרל״א שְׁעָרִים), and once it attained the power of the Vav of the Name S"G (וְכֵיוָן שֶׁהִשִּׂיגָה כֹּחַ הַוָי״ו שֶׁל שֵׁם ס״ג), it became the Measuring Line (נַעֲשֵׂית קַו הַמִּדָּה).
