Chapter 10, Section 1 (פֶּרֶק י׳ אוֹת א׳)
1. Faces of beauty, faces adorned with splendor (א. פָּנִים נָאִים פָּנִים הֲדוּרִים שֶׁל יוֹפִי), faces of flame (פָּנִים שֶׁל לֶהָבָה), the face of Hashem, the God of Israel (פְּנֵי ה׳ אֱלֹקֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל), when He sits upon the throne of His glory (כְּשֶׁהוּא יוֹשֵׁב עַל כִּסֵּא כְבוֹדוֹ), and His ringlets are adorned with majesty in the seat of glorious beauty (וְסַלְסוּלוֹ מִתְיַא בְּמוֹשַׁב הֲדַר יוֹפִי). And then, from the beauty of that might (וְאָז מִיוֹפִי גְּבוּרַת הַדָּא), arises the adornment of grooms and brides in the house of their canopy (מַעֲלֶה מֵהֲדַר חֲתָנִים וְכַלּוֹת בְּבֵית חֻפָּתָן). Whoever gazes upon Him is immediately torn (הַמִּסְתַּכֵּל בּוֹ מִיָּד נִבְקָע), one who glimpses His beauty pours out like a jug (הַמַּצִּיץ בְּיָפְיוֹ מִשְׁתַּפֵּךְ כְּכִיתּוֹן). Those who serve Him today do not serve Him tomorrow (הַמְשָׁרְתִים אוֹתוֹ הַיּוֹם לֹא יְשָׁרְתוּהוּ מָחָר), and those who serve Him tomorrow do not serve Him today (וְהַמְשָׁרְתִים אוֹתוֹ לְמָחָר אֵינָם מְשָׁרְתִים לוֹ הַיּוֹם), for their strength is weakened and their faces blackened (כִּי תָשַׁשׁ כֹּחוֹ וְהֻשְׁחָרוּ פְּנֵיהֶם), their whiteness fades and their eyes darken (תַּעֲלֶה לְבָן וְנֶחְשְׁכוּ עֵינֵיהֶם), after the majesty of beauty, the splendor of their King (אַחַר הֲדַר יוֹפִי הֲדַר שֶׁל מַלְכָּם), as it is said (שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר): “Holy, holy, holy is Hashem of Hosts…” (קָדוֹשׁ קָדוֹשׁ קָדוֹשׁ ה׳ צְבָאוֹת וגו׳).
