Chapter 2, Section 5 (פֶּרֶק ב׳ אוֹת ה׳)
5. Rabbi Yishma’el said (ה אָמַר רַבִּי יִשְׁמָעֵאל): what is the difference in the songs that a person sings as he descends into the Merkavah? (מַה הַפֶּרֶשׁ שִׁירוֹת שֶׁאָדָם מְשׁוֹרֵר וְיוֹרֵד לַמֶּרְכָּבָה) He opens with the beginning of praise and the beginning of song (פּוֹתֵחַ תְּחִלַּת שֶׁבַח וְרֵאשִׁית שִׁירָה), the beginning of joy and the beginning of melody (תְּחִלַּת גִּילָה וְרֵאשִׁית רִנָּה), sung by the singers, the ministering ones, each day (מְשׁוֹרְרִים הַשָּׁרִים הַמְשָׁרְתִים בְּכָל יוֹם), to Hashem, the God of Yisrael (לַה׳ אֱלֹקֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל), upon the Throne of His Glory (עַל כִּסֵּא כְבוֹדוֹ). They are exalted - the wheel of the Throne of His Glory! (הֵם מִתְנַשְּׂאִים גַּלְגּוּל כִּסֵּא כְבוֹדוֹ), sing! sing! dwelling place! (רַנֵּן רַנֵּן מוֹשָׁב), shout! shout! wonder! (הָרִיעַ הָרִיעַ פֶּלֶא), vessel of delight! wonder and wonder! (כְּלִי חֶמְדָּה פֶּלֶא וָפֶלֶא), cause joy! cause joy! O King (תַּשְׂמִיחַ תַּשְׂמִיחַ מֶלֶךְ), who is over you in the joy of a groom in his wedding canopy (שֶׁעָלֶיךָ בְּשִׂמְחַת חָתָן בְּבֵית חֻפָּתוֹ), may all the seed of Yaakov rejoice and exult (יִשְׂמַח וְיָגִיל כָּל זֶרַע יַעֲקֹב). And when I came to take shelter beneath His wings (וּכְשֶׁבָּאתִי לַחֲסוֹת תַּחַת כְּנָפָיו), with the joy of a heart that rejoices in You (בְּשִׂמְחַת לֵבָב שֶׁשָּׂמַח בָּךְ), your conversation mingled with the conversation of your Creator (וּשִׂיחָתְךָ עִם שִׂיחַ יוֹצְרֶךָ), and with your King (וְעִם מַלְכְּךָ), as it is said: “Holy, holy, holy is Hashem of Hosts, the whole earth is full of His glory.”
