Chapter 33, Section 1 (פֶּרֶק ל״ג אוֹת א׳)

1. And I asked: What are the signs that Menachem ben Amiel will perform? (א. וָאֶשְׁאַל: מָה אוֹתוֹת שֶׁיַּעֲשֶׂה מְנַחֵם בֶּן עַמִּיאֵל), and Metatron and Michael said to me (וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלַי מֶטַטְרוֹ״ן וּמִיכָאֵל): A year before the seventh week (שָׁנָה קֹדֶם שָׁבוּעַ אַחַת), the Holy One, blessed be He, sends a messenger to Israel (מְשַׁגֵּר הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא שָׁלִיחַ לְיִשְׂרָאֵל), in security, in tranquility, in joy, in gladness, and in rejoicing (בֶּטַח בִּשְׁלֹוָה בְּדִיצָה בַּעֲלִיצָה וּבַעֲלִיזָה). It is a poor generation that has no merit (הוּא דוֹר עָנִי שֶׁאֵין לוֹ זְכוּת), and yet they stand and provoke against them (אֲבָל עוֹמְדִין וּמַתְרִיזִין כְּנֶגְדָּם), and they disgrace them in the markets and in the streets (וּמְבַזִּין אוֹתָם בַּשְּׁוָקִים וּבָרְחוֹבוֹת), calling them bandits and apostates (שֶׁקוֹרִין: לוֹסְטִים וּמְשׁוּמָּדִים), and they say of him things the ear cannot bear to hear (וְאוֹמְרִים עָלָיו דְּבָרִים שֶׁאֵין הָאֹזֶן יְכוֹלָה לִשְׁמוֹעַ).
