Chapter 35, Section 1 (פֶּרֶק ל״ה אוֹת א׳)

1. And afterward, the Holy One, blessed be He, seats him upon His lap (א. וְאַחַר כָּךְ הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא מוֹשִׁיבוֹ בְּחֵיקוֹ), and embraces him (וּמְחַבְּקוֹ), and kisses him (וּמְנַשְּׁקוֹ), and causes His radiance to shine from dome to dome (וּמַכְהִין זִיוּוֹ מִכִּיפָּה לְכִיפָּה). And the mighty ones of Torah-all Israel-say one to another (וּגִבּוֹרֵי תּוֹרָה כָּלוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל אוֹמְרִים זֶה לָזֶה): “How we have strayed, bearing our affliction! And we did not know!” (כַּמָּה תָּעִינוּ סַבְלֵי עֲוֹנֵנוּ וַאֲנַחְנוּ לֹא יָדַעְנוּ), as it is said: “All we like sheep have gone astray” (Yeshayahu 53:6) (שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר: כֻּלָּנוּ כַּצֹּאן תָּעִינוּ). And afterward He comforts him and his mourners (וְאַחַר כָּךְ מְנַחֲמוֹ לוֹ וּלְאֲבֵלָיו), as it is said: “I have seen his ways and I will heal him” (Yeshayahu 57:18) (שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר: דְּרָכָיו רָאִיתִי וְאֶרְפָּאֵהוּ), and to proclaim a year of favor to Hashem (וּלִקְרֹא שְׁנַת רָצוֹן לַה׳). And through Zechariah it is said: “Behold, a day is coming for Hashem…” (Zechariah 14:1) (וְעַל יְדֵי זְכַרְיָה נֶאֱמַר: הִנֵּה יוֹם בָּא לַה׳).
