Chapter 5, Section 4 (פֶּרֶק ה׳ אוֹת ד׳)

4. Rabbi Yishma’el said (ד אָמַר רַבִּי יִשְׁמָעֵאל): on that day it was Thursday (אוֹתוֹ הַיּוֹם חֲמִישִׁי בַּשַּׁבָּת הָיָה), when a harsh report came from Rome (כְּשֶׁבָּאָה שְׁמוּעָה קָשָׁה מֵרוֹמִי), saying: “They have seized from the mighty ones of Yisrael four men” (לוֹמַר: תָּפְשׂוּ מֵאֲבִירֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אַרְבָּעָה אֲנָשִׁים)-Rabbi Shimon ben Gamliel (רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן בֶּן גַּמְלִיאֵל), Rabbi Yishma’el ben Elisha (רַבִּי יִשְׁמָעֵאל בֶּן אֱלִישָׁע), Rabbi Elazar (וְרַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר), and Rabbi Yehudah ben Bava (וְרַבִּי יְהוּדָה בֶּן בָּבָא), and eighty thousand students from Yerushalayim (וּשְׁמוֹנִים אֶלֶף תַּלְמִידִים מִירוּשָׁלַיִם), [for] their redemption (פִּדְיוֹן שֶׁלָּהֶם).
