It was taught, in the Concealed Book (תָּאנָא, בִּצְנִיעוּתָא דְּסִפְרָא), this beard is the faith of all (דְּהַאי דִּיקְנָא מְהֵימְנוּתָא דְּכֹלָּא). It goes forth from his ears (נָפִיק מֵאוּדְנוֹי), descends around the holy mouth (וְנָחִית סוֹחֲרָנֵיהּ דְּפוּמָא קַדִּישָׁא), descends and ascends and covers (וְנָחִית וְסָלִיק וְחָפֵי), with much fragrance, white and precious (בְּתַקְרוּבְתָּא [סגי] דְּבוּסְמָא טָבָא, חִוָּורָא דְּיַקִּירָא). Some say: of his beard (ס״א דבדיקניה). Descends—some say: white and precious of his beard descends (וְנָחִית ס״א חוורא יקירא דדיקניה נחית)—in balance, and covers until the navel (בְּשִׁקּוּלָא, וְחָפֵי עַד טַבּוּרָא). It is the precious beard, complete faith In it flow thirteen springs, fountains of abundant anointing, corrected in thirteen Tikkunin
First Tikkun: Hair corrected from above (תִּקּוּנָא קַדְמָאָה. מִתְתַּקֵּן שַׂעֲרָא מִלְּעֵילָּא), beginning from the hair of the head (וְשָׁארִי מֵהַהוּא תִּקּוּנָא דִּשְׂעַר רֵישֵׁיהּ), which ascends above the ears (דְּסָלִיק בְּתִקּוּנוֹי לְעֵילָּא מֵאוּדְנוֹי), descends before the opening of the ears (וְנָחִית מִקַּמֵּי פִּתְחָא דְּאוּדְנִין), in one strand, in balance (בְּחַד חוּטָא בְּשִׁקּוּלָא טָבָא), until the beginning of the mouth (עַד רֵישָׁא דְּפוּמָא).
Second Tikkun: Hair corrected from the beginning of the mouth (תִּקּוּנָא תִּנְיָינָא. מִתְתָּקַּן שַׂעֲרָא מֵרֵישָׁא דְּפוּמָא), and ascends until the other side of the mouth (וְסָלִיק עַד רֵישָׁא אַחֲרָא דְּפוּמָא), in balanced correction (בְּתִקּוּנָא שָׁקִיל).
Third Tikkun: From beneath the middle of the nose (תִּקּוּנָא תְּלִיתָאָה. Hair is separated upon that path (וְשַׂעֲרָא אִתְפְּסַק בְּהַהוּא אָרְחָא), and filled on this side and that side (וּמַלְיָא מֵהַאי גִּיסָא, וּמֵהַאי גִּיסָא שַׂעֲרָא). Correction completed around that path
Fourth Tikkun: Hair corrected beneath the mouth (תִּקּוּנָא רְבִיעָאָה. מִתְתָּקַּן שַׂעֲרָא תְּחוֹת פּוּמָא), from one side to the other side (מֵרֵישָׁא חֲדָא לְרֵישָׁא חֲדָא), in complete correction (בְּתִקּוּנָא שְׁלִים).
Fifth Tikkun: Beneath the mouth goes forth another path (תִּקּוּנָא חֲמִישָׁאָה. תְּחוֹת פּוּמָא נָפִיק אָרְחָא אַחֲרָא), in balance with the path above (בְּשִׁקּוּלָא דְּאָרְחָא דִּלְעֵילָּא). And these two paths are marked upon the mouth, on either side
Sixth Tikkun: Hair is corrected (תִּקּוּנָא שְׁתִּיתָאָה. מִתְתַּקֵּן שַׂעֲרָא), ascends and goes from side to side, above to the top of the mouth (וְסָלִיק וְנָפִיק מִלְּרַע לְעֵיל לְרֵישָׁא דְּפוּמָא). Covers with sweet fragrance until the top of the upper mouth Hair descends to the beginning of the lower opening of the mouth
פָּסִיק שַׂעֲרָא), and two cheeks are seen (וְאִתְחָזְן תְּרֵין תַּפּוּחִין), with fragrance, beautiful to see (בְּתַקְרוּבְתָּא דְּבוּסְמָא טָבָא, שַׁפִּירָן וְיָאָן לְמֵחזֵי). For their sake the world stands As it is written (Proverbs 16): “In the light of the king’s face is life” (הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב, בְּאוֹר פְּנֵי מֶלֶךְ חַיִּים).
Eighth Tikkun: One strand of beard hairs goes forth (תִּקּוּנָא תְּמִינָאָה. נָפִיק חַד חוּטָא דְּשַׂעְרֵי סוֹחֲרָנֵי דְּדִיקְנָא), hanging in balance until the navel (וְתַלְיָין בְּשִׁקּוּלָא עַד טַבּוּרָא).
Ninth Tikkun: Beard hairs stirred and mingled (תִּקּוּנָא תְּשִׁיעָאָה. מִתְעָרֵי וּמִתְעָרְבִין שַׂעְרֵי דִּיקְנָא), with those hairs hanging in balance (עִם אִינּוּן שַׂעְרֵי דְּתַלְיָין בְּשִׁקּוּלָא), and this one does not go out from that (וְלָא נַפְקֵי דָּא מִן דָּא).
Tenth Tikkun: Hairs descend beneath the beard (תִּקּוּנָא עֲשִׁירָאָה. נַחְתִּין שַׂעְרֵי תְּחוֹת דִּיקְנָא), and cover the throat beneath the beard (וְחַפְּיָין בִּגְרוֹנָא תְּחוֹת דִּיקְנָא).
Eleventh Tikkun: No hair separates from hair דְּלָא נָפְקִין נִימָא מִן נִימָא), and they are measured in complete measure (וּמִתְשַׁעְרָן בְּשִׁיעוּרָא שְׁלִים).
Twelfth Tikkun: Hairs do not hang over the mouth (תִּקּוּנָא תְּרֵיסָר. דְּלָא תַּלְיָין שַׂעְרֵי עַל פּוּמָא), and the mouth is cleared on all sides (וּפוּמָא אִתְפְּנֵי מִכָּל סִטְרוֹי). And the hairs surround it round about
Thirteenth Tikkun: Hairs hang beneath the beard, on either side (תִּקּוּנָא תְּלֵיסַר. דְּתַלְיָין שַׂעַרָן בִּתְחוֹת דִּיקְנָא, מִכָּאן וּמִכָּאן), in worthy beauty, in fair beauty (בִּיקָרָא יָאָה, בִּיקָרָא שַׁפִּירָא). They cover until the navel Not seen—some say: to be seen (לָא אִתְחֲזֵי. ס״א לאתחזאה)—from any aspect of fragrance, except for those white cheeks, fair and beautiful (מִכָּל אַנְפֵּי תַּקְרוּבָא דְּבוּסְמָא, בַּר אִינּוּן תַּפּוּחִין שַׁפִּירִין חִוָּורִין). They bring forth life to the world, and show joy to Ze’ir Anpin
In these thirteen Tikkunin flow and go forth thirteen fountains of anointing of abundance (בִּתְלֵיסָר תִּקּוּנִין אִלֵּין, נַגְדִּין וְנָפְקִין תְּלֵיסַר מַבּוּעִין דִּמְשַׁח רְבוּת), flowing to all those below (וְנַגְדִּין לְכָל אִינּוּן דִּלְתַּתָּא). They shine with that anointing And they anoint from that anointing of these thirteen corrections In these thirteen corrections is engraved the precious beard, concealed of all, of Atik of Atikin
From the two beautiful cheeks of His face shine the face of Ze’ir Anpin And every whiteness—some say: brightness (וְכָל חִיוָּור. ס״א חיזור)—and every lily found below shines and burns from that supernal light (וְשׁוּשָן דְּאִשְׁתַּכְחָן לְתַתָּא, נְהִירִין וּמִתְלַהֲטִין מֵהַהוּא נְהוֹרָא דִּלְעֵילָּא). These thirteen corrections are found in the beard In the wholeness of the beard in its correction, one is called a faithful man For whoever beholds his beard, faith depends on him
It was taught, in the Concealed Book (תָּאנָא בִּצְנִיעוּתָא דְּסִפְרָא): these thirteen corrections that hang in the precious beard, in seven of them are found in the world (תְּלֵיסַר תִּקּוּנִין אִלֵּין דְּתַלְיָין בְּדִיקְנָא יַקִּירָא, בִּשְׁבִיעָאָה [מנהון] מִשְׁתַּכְּחֵי בְּעָלְמָא). And they are opened in thirteen gates of mercy Whoever stretches his hands against the nation, it is as if he diminishes the thirteen corrections of the beard
This is in Arich Anpin In Ze’ir Anpin, in several He said to Rabbi Yitzchak: Rise in your standing (אָמַר לְרִבִּי יִצְחָק, קוּם בְּקִיּוּמָךְ), and contemplate the crown of correction of the Holy King, how they will be corrected (וְסַלְסֵל בְּסַלְסְלָא דְּתִקּוּנָא דְּמַלְכָּא קַדִּישָׁא הֵיאַךְ יִתְתַּקְּנוּן). Some say: in the beard (ס״א בדיקנא).
