Rabbi Yehudah said (אָמַר רִבִּי יְהוּדָה): How many witnesses Kudsha Berikh Hu makes to testify in men (כַמָּה סַהֲדֵי עָבִיד קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא לְאַסְהֲדָא בְּהוּ בִּבְנֵי נָשָׁא), all of them standing at the right time, in testimony before Him (וְכֻלְּהוּ בְּעֵיטָא וּבְסַהֲדוּתָא קַיְימִין לָקֳבְלֵיהּ). He rises in the morning, stretches his feet to walk (קָם בְּצַפְרָא אוֹשִׁיט רַגְלוֹי לְמֵהַךְ) - the witnesses stand before him (סָהֲדַיָּיא קַיְימִין לָקֳבְלֵיהּ), proclaim and say: “He guards the feet of His pious ones” (1 Samuel 2) (מַכְרִיזִין וְאָמְרִין רַגְלֵי חֲסִידָיו יִשְׁמוֹר). “Guard your foot when you go” (Ecclesiastes 4) “Make level the path of your feet” (Proverbs 4) He opens his eyes to see the world (אַפְּתַּח עֵינוֹי לְאִסְתַּכְּלָא בְּעָלְמָא) - the witnesses say: “Let your eyes look straight ahead” (Proverbs 4) (סָהֲדַיָּיא אָמְרֵי עֵינֶיךָ לְנֹכַח יַבִּיטוּ). He rises to speak (קָם לְמַלְּלָא) - the witnesses say: “Guard your tongue from evil” (Psalm 34) (סָהֲדַיָּיא אָמְרֵי נְצוֹר לְשׁוֹנְךָ מֵרָע). He stretches his hands in worldly matters (אוֹשִׁיט יְדוֹי בְּמִלֵּי עָלְמָא) - the witnesses say: “Turn from evil and do good” (Psalm 34) (סָהֲדַיָּיא אָמְרֵי סוּר מֵרָע וַעֲשֵׂה טוֹב).
If he obeys them, good If not, it is written: “And the Satan stood at his right hand to accuse him” (Zechariah 3) All testify above on his sins If a man engages in the service of Kudsha Berikh Hu (אִי בָּעֵי בַּר נָשׁ לְאִשְׁתַּדְּלָא בְּפוּלְחָנָא דְקוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא), all testify as defenders before Him (כֻלְּהוּ סָהֲדִין סַנֵּיגוֹרִין קַמֵּיהּ), to testify good upon him when he needs it (וְקַיְימִין לְאַסְהֲדָא עָלֵיהּ טָבָאן, בְּשַׁעֲתָא דְּאִצְטְרִיךְ לֵיהּ). He rises in the morning, blesses many blessings Places tefillin on his head between his eyes He lifts his head - he sees the supernal holy Name grasped and marked on his head The straps hang from side to side upon his heart
Behold, he contemplates the glory of his Master He stretches his hand - he sees the other hand bound in the binding of the holy Name He turns his hands and contemplates the glory of his Master He wraps himself in the garment of mitzvah, in its four corners Four kings go forth to meet the four Four true witnesses of the King hang from the four corners (אַרְבַּע סַהֲדֵי קְשׁוֹט דְּמַלְכָּא, תַּלְיָיא מֵאַרְבַּע זִיוְיָין), like clusters of grapes in the vine (וְתַלְיָין בְּהוּ כַּעֲנָבִים בְּאִתְכְּלָא). What is the cluster, that is one (מָה אַתְכְּלָא, דְּאִיהוּ חַד) and many grapes depend upon it (וְתַּלְיָין בֵּיהּ כַּמָה עֲנָבִים) from this side and from that side (מֵהַאי סְטָר וּמֵהַאי סְטָר).
So is this, one commandment (כַּךְ הַאי, מִצְוָה חֲדָא) and many grapes depend upon it (וְתַּלְיָין בֵּיהּ כַּמָה עֲנָבִים) and skins and tendrils are bound in them (וְזָגִין וּזְמוֹרִין צְרִירִין בְּהוּ) these seven runnings (שִׁבְעָה רְהִיטִין) these are the seven bindings of Tekhelet (אִלֵּין אִינּוּן שִׁבְעָה צְרִירִין דִּתְכֶלְתָּא) that need to be wound in it in each and every one (דְּבָעֵי לְכַרְכָא בֵּיהּ בְּכָל חַד וְחָד) or to ascend to thirteen (אוֹ לְאַסְגָּאָה עַד תְּלֵיסַר). Whoever adds shall not add beyond thirteen (מַאן דְּיוֹסִיף, לָא יוֹסִיף עָלַיְיהוּ עַל תְּלֵיסַר) whoever diminishes shall not diminish from seven (מַאן דְּיִמְעַט, לָא יִמְעַט מִשִּׁבְעָה). And the Tanna taught this Tekhelet (וְתָאנָא, הַאי תְּכֵלֶת) it is the secret of King David (הוּא רָזָא דְּדָוִד מַלְכָּא). And this is the thread of Avraham (וְדָא חוּטָא דְּאַבְרָהָם) who merited it for his children after him (דְּזָכָה בֵּיהּ לִבְנוֹי בַּתְרוֹי). What is Tekhelet (מַאי תְּכֵלֶת) the culmination of all (תַּכְלִית דְּכֹלָּא). Indeed Rabbi Yehudah says (ודאי רִבִּי יְהוּדָה אוֹמֵר) the Throne of Glory it is called (כִּסֵּא הַכָּבוֹד אִקְרֵי).
Rabbi Yitzchak said seven windings (רִבִּי יִצְחָק אָמַר, שִׁבְעָה כְּרִיכָן) that is the Shekhinta (דְּאִיהִי שְׁכִינְתָּא) the seventh of all truly (שְׁבִיעָתָא דְּכֹלָּא וַדַּאי). For she is blessed from six others (דְּהָא הִיא מִתְבָּרְכָא מִשִׁיתָּא אַחֲרָנִין) by the hand of the Tzaddik (עַל יְדָא דְּצַדִּיק). And if thirteen then thirteen they are (וְאִי תְּלַת עֲשַׂר, תְּלַת עֲשַׂר אִינּוּן) as they established her in thirteen attributes of mercy (כְּמָה דְּאוּקְמוּהָ בִּתְלַת עֲשַׂר מְכִילָן). And this is the opening of all And she is one thread (וְהִיא חוּטָא חַד) and a mark is in her color (וּרְשִׁימָא בִּגְוָונָהָא) and her color goes out (וּגְוָונָא דִּילָהּ נָפִיק) from one fish that goes in the Sea of Kinneret (מֵחַד נוּנָא דְּאָזִיל בְּיַם כִּנֶּרֶת). And Kinneret is called by her name And because of this a harp was hanging above the bed of David (וְעַל דָּא, כִּנּוֹר הֲוָה תָּלוּי לְעֵילָּא מֵעַרְסָא דְּדָוִד) for this David truly he is the harp of David (דְּהָא דָּוִד וַדַּאי אִיהוּ כִּנּוֹר דְּדָוִד) playing of its own accord (מְנַגֵּן מֵאֵלָיו) for the Holy Supernal King (לְמַלְכָּא קַדִּישָׁא עִלָּאָה). And because of this her color ascends until the firmament (וּבְגִין כָּךְ, גְּוָונוֹי עָיֵיל עַד רְקִיעָא) and from the firmament until the Throne (וּמֵרְקִיעָא עַד כּוּרְסְיָיא). And here it is written "commandment" (וְהָכָא כְּתִיב מִצְוָה) as you say (כְּמָה דְאַתְּ אָמֵר) (II Kings 18) "It is the commandment of the king" (מלכים ב יח מִצְוַת הַמֶּלֶךְ הִיא) (Esther 3) "Why do you transgress the commandment of the king?" (Nehemiah 11) "For it was the commandment of the king" (נחמיה יא כִּי מִצְוַת הַמֶּלֶךְ). And the Tanna taught (וְתָאנָא) the foundation and the root are crowned together in the King (יְסוֹדָא וְשָׁרְשָׁא בְּמַלְכָּא מִתְעַטְּרִין כַּחֲדָא) and this is the crown and the opening for all the other crowns (וְהַאי הוּא כִּתְרָא וּפִתְחָא לְכָל שְׁאַר כִּתְרִין) as it is written (דִּכְתִּיב) (Psalms 118) "Open for me the gates of righteousness" (תהלים קיח פִּתְחוּ לִי שַׁעֲרֵי צֶדֶק) and it is written (וּכְתִיב) (Psalms 118) "This is the gate of Hashem" (תהלים קיח זֶה הַשַּׁעַר לַיְיָ).
And concerning this it is written (וְעַל דָּא כְּתִיב) "And you shall see it and remember all the commandments of Hashem" (וּרְאִיתֶם אוֹתוֹ וּזְּכַרְתֶּם אֶת כָּל מִצְוֹת יְיָ) to include in this all the other crowns (לְאַכְלְלָא בְּהַאי כָּל שְׁאַר כִּתְרִין). And for this they are witnesses of testimony (וְעַל דָּא אִינּוּן סַהֲדֵי סַהֲדוּתָא) and they do not stand in their places (וְלָא קַיְימֵי בְּדוּכְתַּיְיהוּ) because it is a commandment (בְּגִין דְּאִיהִי מִצְוַת). And we have learned (וְתָנֵינָן) articles used for a commandment are cast aside (תַּשְׁמִישֵׁי מִצְוָה נִזְרָקִין). And if you say (וְאִי תֵּימָא) behold the lulav and aravah and so on (הָא לוּלָב וַעֲרָבָה וְכוּ') they are articles of sanctity (תַּשְׁמִישֵׁי קְדוּשָּׁה אִינּוּן) why are they cast away (אֲמַאי נִזְרָקִין). Rather articles of sanctity (אֶלָּא תַּשְׁמִישֵׁי קְדוּשָּׁה) because they are marked with the writing of the Holy Name (בְּגִין דִּרְשִׁימִין בַּכְּתִיבָה דִּשְׁמָא קַדִּישָׁא).
Rabbi Yitzchak said (אָמַר רִבִּי יִצְחָק) these threads are to show (אִינּוּן חוּטִין לְאַחֲזָאָה) how they are hanging from here and from here (הֵיךְ תַּלְיָין מִכָּאן וּמִכָּאן) to the four directions of the world (לְד' סִטְרֵי עָלְמָא) from this place (מֵהַאי אֲתָר) and she rules over all (וְאִיהִי שַׁלְטָא עַל כֹּלָּא) in the secret of the heart (בְּרָזָא דְּלֵב) for she is the heart of all this world (דְּאִיהִי לִבָּא דְּכָל הַאי עָלְמָא) and the heart of the supernal ones (וְלִבָּא דְּעִלָּאֵי) and it depends upon the Supernal Heart (וְתַלְיָא בַּלֵּב עִלָּאָה). And all is in the heart (וְכֹלָּא הוּא בַּלֵּב) which comes forth from Supernal Chokhmah (דְּנָפַק מֵחָכְמָה עִלָּאָה). Rabbi Yitzchak said (אָמַר רִבִּי יִצְחָק) the measure of this (שִׁעוּרָא דְּהַאי) (Some say: and its length) (ס"א ואורכא) of this was stated in the engraved letters of Rabbi El'azar (דְּהַאי, אִתְּמַר בְּאַתְוָון גְּלִיפָן דְּרִבִּי אֶלְעָזָר).
