In this palace (בְּהַאי הֵיכָלָא), there is a Ruach called Situtriya (אִית רוּחַ דְּאִקְרֵי סִטוּטְרִיָּ״ה) — and this is a vision of sapphire, shining to every side (וְהַאי אִיהוּ חֵיזוּ סָפִירָא, דְּנָצִיץ לְכָל עֵיבָר). And this stands to two directions (וְהַאי אִיהוּ דְּקַיְּימָא לִתְרֵין סִטְרִין), and from these go out sparks like the sparks of a flame (וּמֵאִלֵּין מִתְפָּרְשָׁאן נְצִיצִין כִּנְצִיצוּ דְּשַׁרְגָא), as we have established in several places (כְּמָה דְּאוֹקִימְנָא בְּכַמָּה סִטְרִין). And many colors blaze from this to the side of the right When that supernal river that flows and goes out of Eden (כַּד הַהוּא רְקִיעָא עִלָּאָה, נָהָר דְּנָגִיד וְנָפִיק מֵעֵדֶן) brings forth Neshamot (אַפִיק נִשְׁמָתִין), to raise them into the seventh palace above (לְאַעֲלָא גּוֹ הֵיכָלָא שְׁבִיעָאָה לְעֵילָּא), that seventh palace holds them (הַהוּא הֵיכָלָא שְׁבִיעָאָה נָקִיט לוֹן). And when those holy Neshamot come forth from that seventh palace (וְכַד נַפְקֵי אִינּוּן נִשְׁמָתִין קַדִישִׁין, מִגוֹ הַהוּא הֵיכָלָא שְׁבִיעָאָה), they descend until they reach this palace (נַחְתִין עַד דְּמָטוּן לְהַאי הֵיכָלָא), and this holy Ruach Situtriya by name, which is at the right, takes them (וְנָקִיט לוֹן הַאי רוּחָא קַדִישָׁא סִטְטוּרִיָּ״ה שְׁמֵיהּ, דְּאִיהוּ לִימִינָא).
And all those male Neshamot (וְכָל אִינּוּן נִשְׁמָתִין דְּכוּרִין), that are destined to blossom in the meritorious males (דְּאִינּוּן זְמִינִין לְאִתְפָּרְחָא בְּזַכָּאִין דְּכוּרִין), to the right all of them are taken (לִימִינָא כֻּלְּהוּ נָקִיט לוֹן), and remain there until they are included with female Neshamot (וּמִתְעַכְּבֵי תַּמָּן, עַד דְּאִתְכְּלִילוּ בְּנִשְׁמָתִין דְּנוּקְבֵי). From this Ruach there goes out another Ruach to the left That is seen, concealed, and included in the first Ruach, and they are one And this other Ruach is called Adiriya Sanugya (וְהַאי רוּחָא אַחֲרָא, אִקְרֵי אַדִירִיָּ״הּ סָנוּגְיָ״א), Sanegiyah (Some say: sanogya satanya) (סניגי״ה (נ״א סנוגיא סטניה)).
This Ruach is to the left And this stands, that when the yearning of the seventh palace cleaves to that river that flows and goes out (וְהַאי קַיְּימָא, דְּכַד תִּיאוּבְתָּא דְּהֵיכָלָא שְׁבִיעָאָה לְאִתְדַּבְּקָא בְּהַהוּא נָהָר דְּנָגִיד וְנָפִיק), that yearning which ascends from below to above (הַהוּא רְעוּתָא דְּסַלְּקָא מִתַּתָּא לְעֵילָּא), makes Neshamot by its yearning, and these are female (עָבְדָא נִשְׁמָתִין בִּרְעוּתָא דִּילֵיהּ, וְאִינּוּן נוּקְבֵי). And when the yearning of that river descends and cleaves from above to below (וְכַד רְעוּתָא דְּהַהוּא נָהָר, נַחְתָּא וְאִתְדַּבְּקָא מֵעֵילָּא לְתַתָּא), it makes Neshamot male (עַבְדִּין נִשְׁמָתִין דְּכוּרִין). The yearning above makes males The yearning below makes females And when these female Neshamot go out from that seventh palace (וְכַד אִלֵּין נִשְׁמָתִין נוּקְבִין נָפְקִין מִגּוֹ הַהוּא הֵיכָלָא שְׁבִיעָאָה), they descend until they reach this Ruach of the left, which is called Adiriya (נַחְתִּין עַד דְּמָטוּ לְהַאי רוּחָא שְׂמָאלָא, דְּאִקְרֵי אַדִּירִיָּ״הּ). And it is called Livnat haSapir (וְאִקְרֵי לִבְנַ״ת הַסַּפִּי״ר), as we have established in other places (כְּמָה דְּאוֹקִימְנָא בְּסִטְרִין אַחֲרָנִין).
Once the female Neshamot reach this Ruach (כֵּיוָן דְּמָטוּ לְהַאי רוּחָא אִינּוּן נִשְׁמָתִין נוּקְבִין), this Ruach takes them and they remain within it (נַקְטָא לוֹן הַאי רוּחָא, וְקַיְימָאן בֵּיהּ). Afterwards, this left Ruach is included with the right Ruach Then these Neshamot are made, united male and female as one, joined (וּכְדֵין אִתְעָבִידוּ אִינּוּן נִשְׁמָתִין, כְּלִילָן דְּכַר וְנוּקְבָּא כַּחֲדָא, מִזְדוּוגָן), and they fly from this palace and are spread among humankind (וּפַרְחָאן מֵהַאי הֵיכָלָא וְאִתְפָּרְשָׁן בִּבְנֵי נָשָׁא). When they come to be included (כְּדֵין אִתְכַּלְּלוּ), each one goes according to its way, and afterwards they join as one (כָּל חַד כְּפוּם אָרְחֵיהּ, וּלְבָתַר מִזְדַּוְּוגָן כַּחֲדָא).
This left Ruach in the right strikes one with the other, to be joined Sparks go out, spread to every side, and from them Ophanim are made (וְנַפְקֵי נְצִיצִין דְּמִתְפַּשְּׁטֵי לְכָל עֵיבָר, וְאִתְעָבִידוּ אִינּוּן אוֹפַנִּים מִנַּיְיהוּ), from those sparks that go out of the left Ruach, as it is written of them, “The appearance of the Ophanim and their work was like the color of tarshish” (מַרְאֶה הָאוֹפַנִּים וּמַעֲשֵׂיהֶם כְּעֵין תַּרְשִׁישׁ). These are the Ophanim that blaze with fire and stand in song When Ruach is perfumed within Ruach, and they are joined as one (כֵּיוָן דְּאִתְבְּסָמוּ רוּחָא בְּרוּחָא, וְאִתְכְּלִילוּ כַּחֲדָא), then a single light goes out, ascends and descends, and settles upon four rows of Ophanim (כְּדֵין נָפְקָא חַד נְהִירוּ דְּסַלְּקָא וְנַחְתָּא, וּמִתְיַשְּׁבָא עַל אַרְבַּע שׁוּרִין דְּאוֹפַנִים). It is one Chayah that rules over them, and is called Bazak This Bazak shines with light that flashes like flame (הַאי בָּזָק נָהִיר בִּנְהוֹרָא דְּנָצִיץ גּוֹ שַׁלְהוֹבָא), and rules over all those Ophanim (וְשַׁלְטָא עַל כָּל אִינּוּן אוֹפַנִּים).
From it spreads one firmament, standing on two supports These two supports are two Keruvim, one on this side and one on that side And this firmament is over their heads, as it is written, “And I saw, and behold, over the firmament that was above the head of the Keruvim” (וָאֶרְאֶה וְהִנֵּה אֶל הָרָקִיעַ אֲשֶׁר עַל רֹאשׁ הַכְּרוּבִים). And not this firmament that is above the head of the Chayah And Bazak rules over it, and the higher Ruach that is included governs all All those prayers that Yisrael begin before they complete all their prayers are detained in this firmament And this Bazak, that rules over this firmament, arranges them Until Sandalfon, the great appointed one, the supernal Ruach who rules over all, comes And when Yisrael completes all their prayers, he takes them from this firmament (וְכַד סַיְימֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל כֻּלְּהוּ צְלוֹתִין, נָטִיל לוֹן מֵהַאי רְקִיעָא), and raises them, binding them in crowns to their Master, as established (וְסַלְּקָא וְקָשִׁיר לוֹן קִשְׁרִין וְכְּתָרִין לְמָארֵיהּ כְּמָה דְּאוּקְמוּהָ).
This Bazak stands to count all the prayers that ascend (הַאי בָּזָק, קָאִים לְמִמְנֵי כָּל אִינּוּן צְלוֹתִין דְּסַלְקָן), and all the words of Orayta that are crowned at night (וְכָל אִינּוּן מִלֵּי דְּאוֹרַיְיתָא דְּמִתְעַטְּרָן בְּלֵילְיָא), when the Ruach of the North is aroused (כַּד רוּחָא דְּצָפוֹן אַתְעַר), and the night is divided (וְלֵילְיָא אִתְפְּלַג). Whoever stands in that hour and occupies himself with Orayta (כָל מַאן דְּקָאִים בְּהַהִיא שַׁעֲתָא, וְאִתְעֲסָק בְּאוֹרַיְיתָא), all those words ascend (כָּל אִינּוּן מִלִּין סַלְּקִין), and this Bazak takes them (וְנָטִיל לוֹן הַאי בָּזָ״ק), and places them in this firmament (וְאָנַח לוֹן בְּהַאי רְקִיעָא), until the day ascends (עַד דְּסַלְּקָא יְמָמָא). And after the day ascends (וּלְבָתַר דְּסָלִיק יְמָמָא), those words ascend (סַלְקָן אִינּוּן מִלִּין), and remain in the place of the firmament (וְשָׁארָן בַּאֲתָר דִּרְקִיעָא), where are fixed the stars and constellations of the sun and the moon (דְּבֵיהּ תַּלְיָין כֹּכָבַיָא וּמַזָּלֵי שִׁמְשָׁא וְסִיהֲרָא). And this is called the Book of Remembrance (וְהַאי אִקְרֵי סֵפֶר הַזִּכָּרוֹן), as it is written: “And a Book of Remembrance was written before Him” (Malachi 3) (דִּכְתִּיב, וַיִּכָּתֵב סֵפֶר זִכָּרוֹן לְפָנָיו). Before Him (לְפָנָיו), because book and remembrance are one bound connection (בְּגִין דְּסֵפֶר וְזִכָּרוֹן כְּתָב בְּקִשּׁוּרָא חֲדָא). Those are four wheels (אִינּוּן אַרְבַּע גַּלְגַּלִּין), that rest on twelve supports (אִינּוּן נַטְלִין עַל תְּרֵיסָר סַמְכִין). These four: Ahani’el (אִלֵּין ד׳, אַהֲנִיאֵ״ל), Kedumi’el (some say: Kedumi’a Malki’el (קְדוּמִיאֵ״ל, נ״א: קדומי״א מלכי״א), YAHDVNHY (יְאֲהַדוֹנָהִ״י), YHDVNYH (יְהֲדוֹנִיָּ״ה). They are the openers of the Holy Name, in their hands
