Daf 256b (דַּף רנ״ו ע״ב)
The fifth palace (הֵיכָלָא חֲמִישָׁאָה), this palace, in it stand three hundred and sixty-five appointed ones (הֵיכָלָא דָּא, קַיְימִין בֵּיהּ תְּלַת מֵאָה וְשִׁתִּין וְחָמֵשׁ מְמָנָן), corresponding to the number of days in the year (כְּחוּשְׁבָּן יְמֵי שַׁתָּא). And above them are four supernal supporters over all the rest (וְעֵילָּא מִנַּיְיהוּ אַרְבַּע סַמְכִין עִלָּאִין עַל כֻּלְּהוּ). And these are: Krashiyah’el, Sartiha’el, Asiriyah, Kadmi’el (וְאִלֵּין אִינּוּן: קְרָשִׁיהָאֵ״ל, סַרְטִיהָאֵ״ל, עֲסִירִיָּ״ה, קַדְמִיאֵ״ל), and these are called the stakes of this palace (וְאִלֵּין אִקְרוּן יְתֵדוֹת דְּהֵיכָלָא דָּא). These are appointed to gladden the world (אִלֵּין אִתְמְנוּן לְבַדְחָא עָלְמָא), when the Neshama is added from Shabbat eve to Shabbat eve (כַּד נִשְׁמְתָא אִתוֹסְפָת מֵעֶרֶב שַׁבָּת לְעֶרֶב שַׁבָּת). And when it departs, these depart with it (וְאִיהִי נַפְקַת, כַּד אִיהִי נַפְקַת, נָפְקִין אִלֵּין עִמָּהּ), and they remove from Yisrael all sorrow (וּמְעַבְרֵי מִיִשְׂרָאֵל כָּל עֲצִיבוּ), all fatigue (וְכָל יְגִיעָא), all bitterness of soul (וְכָל מְרִירוּ דְּנַפְשָׁא), and all wrath in the world (וְכָל רוּגְזָא דְּעָלְמָא), and these are the gladdeners of the world (וְאִלֵּין אִינּוּן בְּדִיחֵי עָלְמָא). All those below these four (כָּל אִינּוּן דִּלְתַתָּא מֵאִלֵּין אַרְבָּעָה), are appointed to remove judgment from the masters of judgment (כֻּלְּהוּ אִתְמָנוּן לְאַעְבְּרָא דִּינָא מֵאִינּוּן מָארֵי דְּדִינָא), and from those who cast them into Gehinnom (וּמֵאִינּוּן דְּטַרְדֵי לוֹן בְּגֵיהִנָּם), that judgment be removed from them (דִּיסַלְקוּן דִּינָא מִנַּיְיהוּ). And for this, all these stakes stand in joy (וְעַל דָּא, כָּל אִילֵּין יְתֵדוֹת כֻּלְּהוּ קַיְימֵי בְּחֶדְוָה), and from joy they emerge (וּמֵחֶדְוָה נַפְקֵי), and all the palaces stand to be adorned above (וְכֻלְּהוּ הֵיכָלִין קַיְימֵי לְאִתְעַטְרָא לְעֵילָּא), as has been taught (כְּמָה דְּאִתְּמַר).
The sixth palace (הֵיכָלָא שְׁתִיתָאָה), this is the palace that stands over all the lower palaces (הֵיכָלָא דָּא, הֵיכָלָא דְּקַיְּימָא עַל כָּל הֵיכָלִין תַּתָּאִין). In it are one hundred others that stand outside (בְּהַאי, מֵאָה אַחֲרָנִין דְּקַיְּימָאן לְבַר), called stakes like the others (דְּאִקְרוּן יְתֵדוֹת כְּאִינּוּן אַחֲרָנִין). One hundred are on the right side (וְאִינּוּן מֵאָה לִסְטַר יְמִינָא), and one hundred others on the left side (וּמֵאָה אַחֲרָנִין לִסְטַר שְׂמָאלָא). Two supernal appointed ones to the right (תְּרֵין מְמָנָן עִלָּאִין לִסְטַר יְמִינָא), and two other supernal appointed ones to the left (וּתְרֵין מְמָנָן אַחֲרָנִין עִלָּאִין לִסְטַר שְׂמָאלָא). These on the right are Malki’el and Shema’ya’el (אִלֵּין דִּימִינָא אִינּוּן: מַלְכִּיאֵ״ל, שְׁמַעְיָהאֵ״ל), and those on the left are called Misarsaniyah and Tzaftzafiyah (וְאִלֵּין דִּשְׂמָאלָא, אִקְרוּן מִסַרְסָנִיָּ״הּ, צַפְצָפִיָּ״הּ). These are the supernal stakes from the right and from the left (אִלֵּין אִינּוּן יְתֵדוֹת עִלָּאִין, מִימִינָא וּמִשְּׂמָאלָא). And these stand and are prepared in the world (וְאִלֵּין אִינּוּן קַיְימֵי וּזְמִינִין בְּעָלְמָא), at the time that the Tzaddik reaches the moment to depart from the world (בְּהַהוּא זִמְנָא, דְּצַדִּיקָא מָטָא זִמְנֵיהּ לְאִסְתַּלְּקָא מֵעָלְמָא), and permission is given to the Sitra achra (וְאִתְיְהִיב רְשׁוּ לְסִטְרָא אַחֲרָא). These four stand to be prepared there (אִלֵּין אַרְבַּע קַיְימֵי לְאִתְעַתְדָא תַּמָּן), so that his Neshama may depart through a kiss (בְּגִין דְּתִפוּק נִשְׁמָתֵיהּ בִּנְשִׁיקָה), and not suffer under the dominion of the Sitra achra (וְלָא תִּצְטַעֵר בְּשׁוּלְטָנוּ דְּסִטְרָא אַחֲרָא). Fortunate are those Righteous in this world and the World to Come (זַכָּאִין אִינּוּן צַדִּיקַיָּא בְּעָלְמָא דֵּין, וּבְעָלְמָא דְּאָתֵי), whose Master precedes with their authority (דְּמָארֵיהוֹן אַקְדִּים עָלַיְיהוּ שׁוּלְטָנֵיהוֹן), to be guardians in this world and the World to Come (לְמֶהֱוֵי נְטִירָן בְּעָלְמָא דֵּין, וּבְעָלְמָא דְּאָתֵי).
The connection of all these palaces is made here (קִשּׁוּרָא דְּכָל הָנֵי הֵיכָלִין, הָכָא מִתְקַשְּׁרָן). Yaakov is the bond of all faith (יַעֲקֹב קְשִׁירוּ דְּכָל מְהֵימְנוּתָא), a Ruach that stands to receive the Ruach that is below (רוּחַ דְּקַיְּימָא לְקַבְּלָא רוּחָא דְּאִיהוּ לְתַתָּא), and this Ruach that is above stands to receive a supernal Ruach (וְהַאי רוּחָא דְּאִיהוּ לְעֵילָּא קַיְימָא לְקַבְּלָא רוּחָא עִילָּאָה), for all Ruchin exist in it (דְּכָל רוּחִין קַיְימִין בֵּיהּ). This is Yaakov (דָּא אִיהוּ יַעֲקֹב), who is the middle Ruach of all Ruchin (דְּאִיהוּ רוּחָא אֶמְצָעִיתָא דְּכָל רוּחִין), and he takes this sixth palace in those Neshikin (וְאִיהוּ נָטִיל הַאי הֵיכָלָא שְׁתִיתָאָה בְּאִינוּן נְשִׁיקִין), to cleave Ruach to Ruach (לְאִתְדַּבְּקָא רוּחָא בְּרוּחָא), lower with upper (תַּתָּאָה בְּעִילָּאָה). And in these Neshikin [kisses], the lower Ruach [spirit] ascends to cleave with the upper Ruach (וּבְאִלֵּין נְשִׁיקִין אִסְתָּלַּק רוּחָא דִּלְתַתָּא לְאִתְדַּבְּקָא בְּרוּחָא דִּלְעֵילָּא). And when Ruach cleaves with Ruach (וְכַד מִתְדַּבְּקָן רוּחָא בְּרוּחָא), then the concealed supernal Ruach rests upon this middle Ruach (כְּדֵין רוּחָא עִילָּאָה סְתִימָאָה שָׁאֲרִי עַל הַאי רוּחָא דְּאֶמְצָעִיתָא). But before Ruach is aroused to cleave with Ruach (וְעַד לָא אַתְעַר לְאִתְדַּבְּקָא רוּחָא בְּרוּחָא), the supernal Ruach does not rest upon that middle Ruach (רוּחָא עִילָּאָה לָא שַׁרְיָא עַל הַהִיא רוּחָא דְּאֶמְצָעִיתָא). And the secret is this (וְרָזָא דָּא): when Ruach is unified with Ruach (כַּד אִתְאֲחִיד רוּחָא בְּרוּחָא), then Neshikin begin to unite (כְּדֵין שָׁרָאן נְשִׁיקִין לְאִתְחַבְּרָא), and the remaining Shaifin [limbs] awaken in desire (וּמִתְעָרִין שְׁאַר שַׁיְיפִין בְּתִיאוּבְתָא), and this Ruach cleaves with that (וְרוּחָא דָּא מִתְדַּבְּקָא בְּדָא). And then all the Shaifin awaken, one with another (וּכְדֵין, שַׁיְיפִין כֻּלְּהוּ מִתְעָרֵי אִלֵּין בְּאִלֵּין), to bind one Shaifa [limb] with its corresponding limb (לְאִתְקַשְּׁרָא שַׁיְיפָא בְּשַׁיְיפֵיהּ). And if you say: who arouses—the lower Shaifin or the upper Shaifin? (וְאִי תֵּימָא, מַאן אַתְעַר שַׁיְיפֵי תַּתָּאֵי אוֹ שַׁיְיפֵי עִלָּאֵי). The lower Shaifin constantly awaken toward the upper ones (שַׁיְיפֵי תַּתָּאֵי מִתְעָרֵי תָּדִיר לְגַבֵּי עִלָּאֵי), for one who is in darkness constantly longs to be in light (מַאן דְּאִיהוּ בַּחֲשׁוֹכָא, תָּאִיב תָּדִיר לְמֶהֱוֵי בִּנְהוֹרָא). The black flame from below is constantly aroused toward the white flame from above (שַׁלְהוֹבָא אוּכָמָא דִּלְתַּתָּא, אַתְעַר תָּדִיר לְגַבֵּי שַׁלְהוֹבָא חִוָּרָא דִּלְעֵילָּא), in order to cleave with it (בְּגִין לְאִתְדַּבְּקָא בֵּיהּ), and to rest beneath it (וּלְמִשְׁרֵי תְּחוֹתֵיהּ). And the secret is this (וְרָזָא דָּא): “Elohim, do not be silent; do not hold Your peace, and do not be still, O God” (אֱלֹהִים אַל דֳּמִי לָךְ אַל תֶּחֱרַשׁ וְאַל תִּשְׁקוֹט אֵל) (Tehillim 83:2).
When Ya’akov takes this sixth palace (כַּד נָטִיל יַעֲקֹב הַאי הֵיכָלָא שְׁתִיתָאָה), then he is called by the complete supernal holy Name (כְּדֵין אִקְרֵי בִּשְׁמָא קַדִּישָׁא עִלָּאָה שְׁלֵימָא), And Hashem (וַייָ'). And if you say: complete in all things (וְאִי תֵּימָא שְׁלֵימָא דְּכֹלָּא) — not so (לָאו הָכִי), but rather when all these palaces are completed one within the other (אֶלָּא כַּד אִשְׁתְּלִימוּ כֻּלְּהוּ הֵיכָלִין אִלֵּין בְּאִלֵּין), then all is called by the complete Name (כְּדֵין אִקְרֵי כֹּלָּא בִּשְׁמָא שְׁלִים), YHVH Elohim (יְהֹוָ״ה אֱלֹהִים).
And this is the Name complete of all (וְדָא הוּא שְׁמָא שְׁלִים מִכֹּלָּא), and until this one is joined with that one (וְעַד לָא אִתְחַבְּרוּ דָּא עִם דָּא), palaces with palaces (הֵיכָלִין בְּהֵיכָלִין), it is not called by the complete Name (לָא אִקְרֵי בִּשְׁמָא שְׁלֵימָא דָּא). But when these are joined one to the other (וְכַד מִתְחַבְּרָן כַּחֲדָא אִלֵּין בְּאִלֵּין), then all is completed from above and below (כְּדֵין אִשְׁתְּלִים כֹּלָּא מֵעֵילָּא וּמִתַּתָּא). And the radiance from above, above, descends and rests upon all (וּנְהִירוּ דְּעֵילָּא לְעֵילָּא נַחְתָּא וְשַׁרְיָא עַל כֹּלָּא), and all is bound together as one (וְאִתְקָשַׁר כֹּלָּא כַּחֲדָא), to become all one (לְמֶהֱוֵי כֹּלָּא חַד). And the secret of the matter: Ya’akov took four wives (וְרָזָא דְּמִלָּה, יַעֲקֹב נָטִיל אַרְבַּע נָשִׁין), and included them within himself (וְכָלִיל לוֹן בְּגַוֵיהּ).
And even though we have already established this matter in another secret (וְאַף עַל גַּב דְּאוֹקִימְנָא לְהַאי מִלָּה בְּרָזָא אַחֲרָא), that he stands between two worlds (דְּאִיהוּ קַיְּימָא בֵּין תְּרֵין עָלְמִין) (Bereshit 30), the secret of it all is: when Yaakov took this palace, which is the sixth (וְרָזָא דְּכֹלָּא, כַּד יַעֲקֹב נָטִיל הַאי הֵיכָלָא, דְּאִיהוּ שְׁתִיתָאָה), he took and included within himself all those four wives (נָטִיל וְכָלִיל בְּגַוֵּיהּ כָּל אִינּוּן אַרְבַּע נָשִׁין), four angels (אַרְבַּע מַלְאָכִין), and all of them cleave to this palace (וְכֻלְּהוּ דַּבְקֵי בְּהֵיכָלָא דָּא).
These are the four heads of rivers (אִלֵּין אִינּוּן אַרְבַּע רֵישֵׁי נַהֲרִין), as it is written: “And from there it separated and became four heads” (דִּכְתִּיב, וּמִשָּׁם יִפָּרֵד וְהָיָה לְאַרְבָּעָה רָאשִׁים) (Bereshit 2). These four heads are the four wives that Yaakov took (אִלֵּין אַרְבַּע רֵישִׁין, אִינּוּן אַרְבַּע נָשִׁין נָטִיל לוֹן יַעֲקֹב), as we have said—and it was necessary for him (כְּדְקָא אָמְרָן, וְלֵיהּ אִצְטְרִיך), and he took this palace (וְאִיהוּ נָטִיל הֵיכָלָא דָּא). And then this palace is called “And Hashem” (וּכְדֵין אִקְרֵי הַאי הֵיכָלָא וַיְיָ'), when it is for good, as it is said: “And Hashem went before them by day” (כַּד אִיהוּ לְטָב כְּמָה דְאַתְּ אָמֵר: וַיְיָ הוֹלֵךְ לִפְנֵיהֶם יוֹמָם) (Exodus 13), and: “And Hashem said: Shall I hide from Avraham…” (וַיְיָ אָמַר: הַמְכַסֶּה אֲנִי מֵאַבְרָהָם) (Bereshit 18).
But when Yitzchak is joined (וְכַד אִתְחֲבָּר יִצְחָק), in the palace of judgment (בְּהֵיכָלָא דְּבֵי דִּינָא), which is called Merit (דְּאִקְרֵי זְכוּתָא), then all is called “And Hashem”, to punish the guilty (כְּדֵין אִקְרֵי כֹּלָּא וַיְיָ' לְאַעְנְשָׁא לְחַיָּיבַיָּא), as it is said: “And Hashem rained upon Sodom…” (כְּמָה דְאַתְּ אָמֵר: וַיְיָ הִמְטִיר עַל סְדֹם וְגוֹ') (Bereshit 19). And all is one secret, as is fitting (וְכֹלָּא בְּרָזָא חֲדָא כְּדְקָא יֵאוֹת). And when Yaakov took this palace, then all is called Ratzon Shalom—Will of Peace (וְכַד יַעֲקֹב נָטִיל הֵיכָלָא דָּא, כְּדֵין אִקְרֵי כֹּלָּא רָצוֹן שָׁלוֹם). And your sign is: “And when the turn of Esther came…” (וְסִימָנֵךְ: וּבְהַגִּיעַ תּוֹר אֶסְתֵּר) (Esther 2), and this is Et Ratzon—Time of Favor (וְדָא הוּא עֵת רָצוֹן). And from here onward (וּמִכָּאן וּלְהָלְאָה), the palaces begin to unite and be bound one with the other (שָׁרָאן הֵיכָלִין לְאִתְחַבְּרָא וּלְאִתְקַשְּׁרָא אִלֵּין בְּאִלֵּין). And even though we have learned: “southeast” (וְאַף עַל גַּב דְּתָנֵינָן: דְּרוֹמִית מִזְרָחִית) all is one (וְכֹלָּא אִיהוּ כַּחֲדָא), here it is Ruach with Ruach (הָכָא אִיהוּ רוּחָא בְּרוּחָא), a single cleaving (דְּבֵקוּתָא חֲדָא).
