Daf 100b (דַּף ק ע״ב)
That which is called “Perhaps” (דְאִיהִי אִתְקְרִיאַת אוּלַי), about her it is said: “All this - and perhaps he will merit the hour of sustenance” (וַעֲלָהּ אִתְּמַר כּוּלֵי הַאי וְאוּלַי דְּזָכֵי לְשַׁעִתָּא דִמְזוֹנֵי). And about her it is said: “On the river Ulai” (Daniel 8)
For already he was obligated before he came into the world, which is the lower Shekhinta And behold, he was obligated in the Sefirah that is above it (וְהָא אִתְחַיֵּיב בִּסְפִירָה דְאִיהִי לְעִילָא מִנֵּיהּ), until he is rectified for that place where man’s Neshama was taken (עַד דְּאִתְתַּקַּן לְהַהוּא אֲתַר דְּאִתְנְטִיל בַּר נַשׁ נִשְׁמָתֵיהּ). He has no Tikkun in the lower Shekhinta (לֵית לֵיהּ תַּקָּנָה בִּשְׁכִינְתָּא תַּתָּאָה), which is the hour of all (דְאִיהִי שַׁעִתָּא דְכֻלְּהוּ). And because of this, the hour does not endure for him And if it depends on the supernal Mazal, even if he does many merits, the matter does not depend on merit, for he is already obligated from above
Rabbi Shimon said: From here it is understood that Gilgul depends upon the Shekhinta, that is in its kind But if another he will take (Exodus 21) (אֲבָל אִם אַחֶרֶת יִקַּח לוֹ), if that Ruach comes into another body - behold, it is not of its kind (אִם הַהוּא רוּחָא יֵיתֵי בְּגוּפָא אָחֳרָא, דְהָא לַאו אִיהוּ מִינֵיהּ). What is written of him? The hour endures for him there, and she is his mate He said: Surely the hour endures for him, that she is his mate who was rolled together with him If not, “her food, her covering, and her onah he shall not diminish” (Exodus 21) Her food - this is the first Gilgul, “flesh of his flesh” (שְׁאֵרָהּ דָּא גִלְגּוּלָא קַדְמָאָה, שְׁאֵר בְּשָׂרוֹ). Her covering - “for she alone is his covering, it is his garment upon his skin” (Exodus 22) This is the second Gilgul And 'Her Season' (Ve-Onatah) is Adam; his unification, which is the Third Gilgul
Rabbi Shimon said: Sava, Sava, you have opened words more, for behold, your words are sealed He said to him, that Elder: Her food - this is sustenance from the right side, from which all nourishment comes This is what is written: “You open Your hand and satisfy every living being with favor” (Psalms 145)
Her covering - from the side of the left, which is the covering of the eyes From there comes blindness to the left (דְּמִתַּמָּן עִרְיָין לִשְׂמָאלָא), because on the side of the left is blemish (בְּגִין דְּסִטְרָא שְׂמָאלָא תַמָּן פְּגִימוּ). This is what is written: “From the north shall the evil break forth” (Jeremiah 1) And because of this it is said about Yitzchak (Bereshit 27): “And it came to pass, when Yitzchak was old, and his eyes were dim” (וּבְגִין דָּא אִתְּמַר בְּיִצְחָק וַיְהִי כִּי זָקֵן יִצְחָק וַתִּכְהֶיןָ עֵינָיו מֵרְאוֹת). And there coverings are needed And regarding Moshe it is said (Exodus 3): “And Moshe hid his face, for he was afraid to look at Elokim” (וּמֹשֶׁה בְּהַהוּא אִתְּמַר בֵּיהּ וַיַּסְתֵּר מֹשֶׁה פָּנָיו כִּי יָרֵא מֵהַבִּיט אֶל הָאֱלֹהִים). And because of this, tzitzit and tefillin are her coverings This is what is written: “For she alone is his covering, it is his garment upon his skin” (Exodus 22) In the skin of the tefillin (וּבְעוֹר דִּתְּפִילִּין). Her covering is upon four corners: “the garment with which you cover yourself” (Deuteronomy 22) And 'Her Season' (Ve-Onatah) - from the side of the Middle Column, which is Yisrael, “Hear O Yisrael” (וְעוֹנָתָהּ מִסִּטְרָא דְעַמּוּדָא דְאֶמְצָעִיתָא דְאִיהוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל שְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵל). There is her unification This is what is written: “And if he does not these three unto her, then she shall go out free without money” (Exodus 21) For “Lo, all these things does El, twice and thrice with a man” (Job 33)
Abba, which is Chokhmah, in these three descends in Gilgul And behold it is written concerning Adam and Chavah, that they ascended into the bed two, and descended seven He said: Surely thus it is - they are Adam and Chavah, Kayin and his twin sister, Hevel and his two twin sisters And Kayin, because Hevel had two twin sisters, and he had only one, acquired Hevel And this caused him: “For seven times the Tzaddik falls and rises” (Proverbs 24) For he sinned in the Shekhinta, which is Bat Sheva And because of this he fell in seven For the woman caused him death And this is his descent - the descent of the Shekhinta below from her place And afterward, when that Tree was rooted in her (וּלְבָתַר דְּאִשְׁתַּרַשׁ בָּהּ), Some say: when he used that (נ״א: דאשתמש בהאי), he descended there, the spring, to make a desire - which is procreation (אִילָנָא, וְנָחִית תַּמָּן נְבִיעוּ לְמֶעֱבַד אִיבָּא דְאִיהוּ פִּרְיָה וְרִבְיָה). This caused Adam, who was created in His image For the spring departed from the lower Shekhinta and from her seven levels After they descended there, all ascended back to its place And the secret is: “and he arose” (וְרָזָא אִיהוּ וְקָם).
