Daf 10b (דַּף י ע״ב)
And furthermore, Tikkun 6 (וְעוֹד תִּקּוּנָא ו'), “And they that are wise shall shine” (Daniel 12) (וְהַמַּשְׂכִּילִים יַזְהִירוּ), these are they who know the secret in the second command in the word Bereshit (אִלֵּין אִינוּן דְּיָדְעִין רָזָא בְּפִקּוּדָא תִּנְיָנָא בְּמִלַּת בְּרֵאשִׁי״ת), which is love (דְּאִיהִי אַהֲבָ״ה). For in the small calculation Bereshit is one (דְּאִיהִי לְחֻשְׁבַּן זְעִיר בְּרֵאשִׁית, בְּמַתְקְלָא חֲדָא סָלְקִין), and this is the love of Chesed, which is seventy-two in calculation (וְדָא אַהֲבַת חֶסֶד, דְּאִיהִי ע״ב בְּחוּשְׁבָּן), corresponding to the Explicit Name: Vayisa, Vayavo, Vayet (וַיִּסַּע וַיָּבֹא וַיֵּט), in which the Vav and Alef are one calculation (דְּבֵיהּ וָא״ו כְּחוּשְׁבַּן אֶחָ״ד). This is the one saying which is Bereshit (דְּהַיְינוּ מַאֲמַר אֶחָד דְּאִיהוּ בְּרֵאשִׁית), about which it was established: “And is it not that with one saying it could have been created?” And this is the love of his Master (וְהַאי אִיהוּ רְחִימוֹי דְמָארֵיהּ): whoever delivers his soul in the One, in the love of his Master (מָאן דְּמָסַר נַפְשֵׁיהּ בְּאֶחָד, בִּרְחִימוֹי דְמָארֵיהּ).
And because of this: “And you shall love Hashem your God” (Deuteronomy 6) (וּבְגִין דָּא וְאָהַבְתָּ אֵת י״י אֱלֹהֶי״ךָ), even if He takes your soul (אֲפִילוּ נוֹטֵל אֶת נַפְשֶׁךָ). If his soul is more beloved to him than his body, therefore it says: “And with all your soul” (וְאִם חָבִיב עֲלֵיהּ נַפְשֵׁיהּ מִגּוּפָא לְכַךְ נֶאֱמַר וּבְכָל נַפְשְׁךָ). If his body is more beloved to him than his wealth, therefore it says: “And with all your heart” (וְאִם חָבִיב עֲלֵיהּ גּוּפֵיהּ מִמָּמוֹנֵיהּ לְכַךְ נֶאֱמַר בְּכָל לְבָבְךָ). If his wealth is more beloved to him than his body, therefore it says: “And with all your might” (וְאִם חָבִיב עֲלֵיהּ מָמוֹנָא מִגּוּפָא לְכַךְ נֶאֱמַר בְּכָל מְאֹדֶךָ). With that which is beloved to you, surrender it in the love of your Master in time of trouble And this is the trial with which Yisrael are destined to be tested in the seventy years of the last exile (וְדָא אִיהוּ נִסָּיוֹן דַּעֲתִידִין יִשְׂרָאֵל לְאִתְנַסָּאָה בְשַׁבְעִין שְׁנִין דְּגָלוּת בַּתְרָאָה), for a poor man is considered as dead (דְּעָנִי חָשׁוּב כַּמֵּת), and it is as though they take his soul (וּכְאִלּוּ נָטְלִין נַפְשֵׁיהּ), his body and his soul and his wealth are all weighed equally (גוּפָא וְנַפְשָׁא וּמָמוֹנָא כֻּלְּהוּ שְׁקוּלִין). With that which is beloved to him, he must surrender it in the love of his Master And at that time he is bound in the word “love,” which is Bereshit (וּבְהַהוּא זִמְנָא אִתְקַשַּׁר בְּמִלַּת אַהֲבָ״ה דְאִיהִי בְּרֵאשִׁי״ת), and it is as though by it the world was created (וּכְאִלּוּ בֵיהּ בָּרָא עָלְמָא). But whoever does not surrender his soul or his body or his wealth in the love of his Master in the time of persecution, it is as though he returned the world to tohu va-vohu
But whoever surrenders his soul and his body and his wealth in the time of persecution in the love of his Master, this one is called the beloved of his Master indeed (וּמָאן דְּמָסַר נַפְשֵׁיהּ וְגוּפֵיהּ וּמָמוֹנֵיהּ בְּשַׁעַת הַשְּׁמַד בִּרְחִימוּ דְמָארֵיהּ, דָּא אִתְקְרֵי רְחִימָא דְמָארֵיהּ וַדַּאי), and in that world there is none above him (וּבְהַהוּא עָלְמָא לֵית לְעִילָא מִינֵיהּ). And because of this the verse is adjacent: “And the earth was tohu va-vohu” (Bereshit 1) And the love of Hashem is Malkhut (וְאַהֲבַת י״י אִיהִי מַלְכוּת), crowned with all the Sefirot (כְלִילָא מִכָּל סְפִירָן). And it is the commandment of the Holy One, blessed be He, in all the 613 commandments And concerning it, it is said: “Why do you transgress the commandment of the King?” And it is the building of the world An evil maidservant is the destruction of the world
And because of this it is said about her: “And the earth was tohu va-vohu” (Bereshit 1) And she is the strap in the hand of the Holy One, blessed be He, to strike with it the guilty And because of this, one who loves Kudsha Berikh Hu from his soul or his body or his wealth Kudsha Berikh Hu will guard him Behold, his love is dependent on that which He gives him (הָא רְחִימוּ דִילֵיהּ תְּלוּיָה בְּהַהִיא דְיָהִיב לֵיהּ), and this is not the essence of love (וְלַאו עִקָּר רְחִימוּ), for this is not true love (דְּלַאו אִיהוּ הַאי רְחִימוּ).
For if He takes his wealth or his body and he denies Him, this is not the essence of love (דְאִם נָטַל מָמוֹנֵיהּ אוֹ גוּפֵיהּ כָּפַר בֵּיהּ, לַאו אִיהוּ עִקָּר רְחִימוּ), until he surrenders his soul in the love of his Master (עַד דְּמָסַר נַפְשֵׁיהּ בִּרְחִימוּ דְמָארֵיהּ). And if all three are equal to him, he must surrender them all for the sanctification of His Name in love And this is the essence of love (וְהַאי אִיהוּ עִקָּרָא דִרְחִימוּ), which is the love of Hashem, Malkhut (דְאִיהוּ אַהֲבַת יְיָ מַלְכוּת), which is the love of Chesed (דְּאִיהִי אַהֲבַת חֶסֶד). And awe is from the side of Gevurah And from Chesed she is Malkhut, the love of Hashem, as it is said (וּמֵחֶסֶד אִיהִי מַלְכוּת אַהֲבַת יְיָ כְּמָה דְאִתְּמַר), from Gevurah is the fear of Hashem (מִגְּבוּרָה אִיהִי יִרְאַת יְיָ). And the Orayta, which is 611, from both of them was given to Yisrael (וְאוֹרַיְיתָא דְאִיהִי תַּרְי״א מִתַּרְוַיְהוּ אִתְיְהִיב לְיִשְׂרָאֵל), and this is the Middle Pillar (וְדָא עַמּוּדָא דְאֶמְצָעִיתָא). From His side it is called Malkhut, the Torah of Hashem, complete And it is His commandment in all the 613 commandments that depend on His Name These are: “My Name” with YH, 365 (דְּאִינוּן שְׁמִ״י עִם י״ה שְׁס״ה), “My Remembrance” with VH, 248 (זִכְרִ״י עִם ו״ה רְמַ״ח). She is in His image and likeness
And furthermore, Tikkun 7 (וְעוֹד תִּקּוּנָא ז׳), “And the wise shall shine” (Daniel 12) (וְהַמַּשְׂכִּילִים יַזְהִירוּ), these are they who know in the word Bereshit the third commandment, which is the covenant of circumcision (אִלֵּין דְּיָדְעִין בְּמִלַּת בְּרֵאשִׁית פִּקּוּדָא תְּלִיתָאָה דְּאִיהִי בְּרִית מִילָה). And this is Bereshit, Berit Esh (covenant of fire) And the covenant is Yod (וּבְרִית אִיהִי י׳), and with Esh (fire) is made Ish (man) (וְעִם אֵ״שׁ אִתְעֲבִיד אִי״שׁ). And likewise, the letter Hei with Esh is Nukva And concerning the two fires it was said at first: “Garments of light” (וְעַל תְּרֵין אֵישׁוֹת אִתְּמַר בְּקַדְמֵיתָא כָּתְנוֹת אוֹר), with which the heel dims the orb of the sun (דִּבְהוֹן עֲקֵבוֹ מַכְהֶה גַלְגַּל חַמָּה). And this is “Who creates the lights of the fire” which are in Havdalah Yod–Hei from Ish (man) and Isha (woman) After they sinned: “And Hashem Elohim made for Adam and his wife garments of skin, and clothed them” (Bereshit 3) (בָּתַר דְּחָאבוּ וַיַּעַשׂ י״י אֱלֹהִי״ם לְאָדָם וּלְאִשְׁתּוֹ כָּתְנוֹת עוֹר וַיַּלְבִּישֵׁם), and this is “Who creates the lights of the fire” -Isha (woman) (וְהַיְינוּ בּוֹרֵא מְאוֹרֵי הָאֵשׁ אִשָּׁה). And this is the skin of the serpent (וְדָא עוֹר שֶׁל נָחָשׁ), to be purified in that which he sinned (לְאִתְדַכָּאָה בַּמֶּה דְחָאב). And because of this, Righteous who guard the covenant do not again return to their dust (וּבְגִין דָּא צַדִּיקַיָּיא דְּנָטְרֵי בְּרִית שׁוּב אֵינָם חוֹזְרִים לְעַפְרָן), for it is skin of the serpent’s hide which was created from dust (דְּאִיהוּ עוֹר מִשְׁכָּא דְחִוְיָא דְאִתְבְּרֵי מֵעַפִרָא), as it is said: “And dust shall be the serpent’s bread” (Isaiah 65) (דְּאִתְּמַר בֵּיהּ וְנָחָשׁ עָפָר לַחְמוֹ).
