And two chambers are in the heart (וּתְרֵין בָּתִּין אִית בְּלִבָּא), one brings forth vapor, and one brings forth vapor (חַד אַפִּיק הֲבַל, וְחַד אַפִּיק הֲבַל). And these are the upper Hei and the lower Hei (וְאִינוּן ה׳ עִלָּאָה ה׳ תַּתָּאָה), in the two chambers of the heart (בִּתְרֵי בָּתֵּי לִבָּא), which correspond to the First House and the Second House (דְאִנּוּן לָקֳבֵל בַּיִת רִאשׁוֹן וְשֵׁנִי). The Vav is the voice that goes out from both of them The Yod is the speech that rests in the mouth Of it is said: By the word of Hashem were the heavens made (Psalms 33). And it is one speech that includes the ten sayings And the secret of the matter: Once has Elohim spoken, twice have I heard this (Psalms 62), to show in it that the ten commandments were said in one utterance Twice—these are “I am” and “You shall not have” (שְׁתַּיִם זוּ אִלֵּין אָנֹכִי וְלֹא יִהְיֶה לְךָ). And it is one, one between them And this is what we said, that upon these two depend the positive and the negative commandments And Kudsha Berikh Hu speaks from both of them, to give glory to the Torah

For He in one speech said all And why is it said: Twice have I heard this? This is one, reckoned in calculation (וְלָמָה אָמַר שְׁתַּיִם זוּ שָׁמַעְתִּי, ז״וּ אֶחָ״ד, הֲוִי בְּחוּשְׁבַּן), for they are two Torahs (דִּתְרֵי תוֹרוֹת הֲווֹ). And Kudsha Berikh Hu is one between them, and His Name is one And from the two utterances went out one voice, and it was divided into seventy voices (וּמִתְּרֵין דִּבּוּרִין נָפַק קָלָא וְאִתְפַּלֵּג לְשַׁבְעִין קָלִין), corresponding to the seventy faces (לָקֳבֵל שַׁבְעִין אַנְפִּין). And He slew with them the seventy nations who did not accept the Torah And with the two utterances He slew the two nations, Esav and Yishma‘el, who did not want to accept the Torah For Kudsha Berikh Hu is one (דְּהָא קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא חַד אִיהוּ), and He did not speak with those voices and utterances of Anokhi except to show His Name and His glory in the Torah (וְאִיהוּ לָא הֲוָה מְמַלֵּל בְּאִלֵּין קָלִין וְדִבּוּרִין דְּאָנֹכִי, אֶלָּא לְאַחְזָאָה דִשְׁמֵיהּ וִיקָרֵיהּ הֲוָה בְאוֹרַיְיתָא). And because of this Kudsha Berikh Hu spoke from it - some say: in judgment (וּבְגִין דָּא קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא מַלִּיל מִינָהּ [נ״א בדינא]) - in order that all the nations of the world should tremble from those who engage in it (בְּגִין דְּיִתְזַעֲזַעוּן כָּל אוּמִין דְּעָלְמָא מֵאִלֵּין דְּמִשְׁתַּדְלִין בָּהּ). And because of this Kudsha Berikh Hu said to Moshe: This is My Name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations (Exodus 3). My Name, with Yod-Hei, is the 365 negative commandments My memorial, with Vav-Hei, is the 248 positive commandments To show that the Torah was created in the Name of Kudsha Berikh Hu, and upon His Name it is called This is what is written: Everyone that is called by My Name, etc. (Isaiah 43). And upon it rests Kudsha Berikh Hu, and from it He spoke at Sinai And there is the supernal Torah, in which there is not called creation but only Atzilut of His own And she and He are entirely one And every person who engages in the Torah, the Name of Kudsha Berikh Hu is there How much more so, how much more so, in the Holy Luminary

And the Holy Luminary, surely, your mouth is Sinai Seven vapors that go out from your mouth, the Shekhinta rests upon them For she is the daughter of seven These are the seven Names of the explicit Name (דְּאִינוּן שֶׁבַע שְׁמָהָן דִּשְׁמָא מְפָרַשׁ), which is the Name of forty-two letters (דְּאִיהוּ שְׁמָא דְאַרְבְּעִין וּתְרֵין אַתְוָון). And from it ascends the voice, which is the Middle Column And it is elevated into seventy voices For she indeed ascends into seven (דְּאִיהִי וַדַּאי בֵּיהּ סָלְקָא לְשֶׁבַע), which is the upper Hei, the pure air, the air of the land of Yisrael, which makes wise (דְּאִיהִי ה׳ עִלָּאָה, אַוִּירָא דַכְיָא, אַוִּירָא דְאֶרֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל דְּאִיהִי מַחְכִּים), from the side of Chokhmah, which is Yod (מִסִּטְרָא דְחָכְמָה דְאִיהִי י׳). And in her the Vav ascends to ten, six times And the two Heis are the Hei of vapor from within and the Hei of vapor from without And both of them are in the heart and in the mouth They are the ten commandments of Kudsha Berikh Hu And in them the heart and the mouth are equal And whoever engages in the Torah, then it is necessary that his mouth and his heart be equal And not for naught did the Masters of the Mishnah establish: Whoever is not inwardly like his outward self, let him not enter the house of study

The two Hehs are surely the two utterances (תְּרֵין הֵהִי״ן וַדַּאי אִינוּן תְּרֵין דִּבּוּרִין), of which it is said: Twice have I heard this (דְּאִתְּמַר בְּהוֹן שְׁתַּיִם זוּ שָׁמַעְתִּי) (Psalms 62). The Vav is the voice that goes out from them Of it is said: A voice of words you heard (Deuteronomy 4). And this voice goes out from the two utterances, which are the Heh–Heh (וְהַאי קוֹל נָפִיק מִתְּרֵין דִּבּוּרִין דְּאִיהוּ ה״ה), which include the ten commandments (דִּכְלִילָן עֲשַׂר דִּבְּרָן): five on one tablet (ה׳ בְּלוּחָא חֲדָא), and they were arranged next to them: Your heads, your tribes, your elders, and your officers, all the men of Yisrael (וַהֲווֹ מְסַדְּרִין לְגַבַּיְיהוּ רָאשֵׁיכֶם שִׁבְטֵיכֶם זִקְנֵיכֶם וְשׁוֹטְרֵיכֶם כֹּל אִישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל) (Deuteronomy 29).

Behold five on the first tablet On the second tablet were arranged with them five other orders (בְּלוּחָא תִנְיָינָא הֲווֹ מְסַדְּרִין לְגַבַּיְיהוּ חָמֵשׁ תִּקּוּנִין אָחֳרָנִין), which are: your little ones, your wives, and your stranger, from the hewer of your wood to the drawer of your water (דְּאִינוּן טַפְּכֶם נְשֵׁיכֶם וְגֵרְךָ מֵחֹטֵב עִצֶיךָ עַד שֹׁאֵב מֵימֶיךָ). This is the Heh

Behold the two utterances in which are included the ten And the voice that went out from them included them, and this is the Vav (וְקָלָא דַהֲוָה נָפִיק מִנַּיְיהוּ הֲוָה כְלִיל לוֹן וְדָא ו׳), included in six times, as it is written: Good, in the six days of Creation (כְּלִיל ו׳ זִמְנִין דִּכְתִיב טוֹב בְּשֵׁשֶׁת יְמֵי בְּרֵאשִׁית). Here there is a gap (כָּאן חֲסֵר). And it was ascending from them in the letter Yod Six times ten are sixty It is found that they are the ten sayings Not ascending to the seventy-two Names

The two Hehs are the two utterances, and in them ten, behold twelve The Vav rises in the letter Yod Six times ten are sixty, behold seventy-two And if you will say: that in the Torah He spoke and no more (וְאִי תֵּימָא דִּבְאוֹרַיְיתָא מַלִּיל וְלָא יַתִּיר), there is no place above or below where He did not speak from it (לָא אִשְׁתַּכַּח אֲתַר לְעִילָא וְתַתָּא דְּלָא מַלִּיל מִנֵּיהּ). Even among the angels, for it is not found that there is any other God in the world And He spoke in the throne-this is what is written: Anokhi (I) And thus Anokhi ascends into the calculation of the throne And afterward He spoke in the angels This is what is written: And all the people saw the voices (Exodus 20). Of them it is said: For a bird of the heavens shall carry the voice
