The eighth path: and Elohim called the firmament Heaven (Bereshit 1:8). And “Vayikra Elohim” is Imma Ila’ah To the firmament, this is the middle pillar, which is between right and left and includes both This is what is written (הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב) (ibid.), and it was evening and it was morning, one day (וַיְהִי עֶרֶב וַיְהִי בֹקֶר יוֹם אֶחָד). And these are the evening of Yitzchak and the morning of Avraham
The Thirty-First Tikkun
Bereshit: created—two (בְּרֵאשִׁית בָּרָ״א שְׁתֵּ״י). And about them it is said (וַעֲלַיְיהוּ אִתְּמַר) (Ruth 1:19), and the two of them went, and so forth (וַתֵּלַכְנָה שְׁתֵּיהֶם וְגוֹ׳). And these are the two Torot, the Written Orayta and the Oral Orayta And further, two Tablets went up to Mount Sinai Immediately, the whole city was stirred about them (מִיָּד וַתֵּהֹם כָּל הָעִיר עֲלֵיהֶן) (ibid.), the whole world trembled (אִזְדַּעִזַע כָּל עָלְמָא). This is what is written (הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב) (Exodus 20:18), and all the people saw the voices, and so forth, and the people saw and they trembled (וְכָל הָעָם רֹאִים אֶת הַקּוֹלֹת וְגוֹ׳ וַיַּרְא הָעָם וַיָּנוּעוּ). And they said: is this Naomi? This is the pleasantness of the Orayta Immediately, it is said (מִיָּד אִתְּמַר) (Exodus 32:19), and he shattered them under the mountain (וַיְשַׁבֵּר אוֹתָם תַּחַת הָהָר). The Orayta flew away from there And she said (וְאָמְרַת) (Ruth 1:21), I went full to Mount Sinai, and now Hashem has returned me empty (אֲנִי מְלֵאָה הָלַכְתִּי לְטוּרָא דְסִינַי, וּכְעַן וְרֵיקָם הֱשִׁיבַנִי יהו״ה). [She is] Full (Mele'ah)—[meaning she is] Filled with Y-H And now, it has flown from me—the 'Fullness of Y-H' (Maleh Y-H) which is [the secret of] Y-H-V And remained the Heh alone, mute I was mute in silence (נֶאֱלַמְתִּי דוּמִיָּ״ה) (Psalms 39:3), Silent [is] Y-H (דוֹ״ם י״ה). I was silent from good, which is Vav
Another explanation: and the two of them went-body and soul To where did they go? To the grave (לְאָן אֲתַר אָזְלִי, לְבֵי קִבְרָא). The body is judged and rots The soul-about it, it is said (נֶפֶשׁ אִתְּמַר בָּהּ) (Ruth 3:7), and she uncovered his feet and lay down (וַתְּגַל מַרְגְּלוֹתָיו וַתִּשְׁכָּב).
Sava arose and said (קָם סָבָא חַד וְאָמַר): Holy Luminary, turn back (בּוֹצִינָא קַדִּישָׁא חֲזוֹר בָּךְ). Orpah is the body (עָרְפָּה אִיהִי גוּף), Ruth is the soul (רוּת אִיהִי נֶפֶשׁ). Her partner, Naomi, is the Neshmat Chayyim Machlon is the spirit (מַחְלוֹן רוּחָא). The body, which is Orpah, turned back, the nape, to the Neshama [Some say: the Shekhinta] (גוּפָא דְאִיהִי עָרְפָּה חָזְרָה עוֹרֶף לְגַבֵּי נְשָׁמָה [נ״א שְׁכִינְתָּא]). The soul clung to the Neshama This is what is written (הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב) (Ruth 1:16), where you go I will go, in the positive commandments (בַּאֲשֶׁר תֵּלְכִי אֵלֵךְ בְּפִקּוּדִין דַּעֲשֵׂה), and where you lodge I will lodge, in the negative commandments (וּבַאֲשֶׁר תָּלִינִי אָלִין בְּפִקּוּדִין דְּלֹא תַעֲשֶׂה).
Another explanation: where you go I will go-in exile (דָּבָר אַחֵר בַּאֲשֶׁר תֵּלְכִי אֵלֵךְ בְּגָלוּתָא), of which it is said (דְּאִתְּמַר בָּהּ) (Isaiah 50:1), and for your iniquities your mother was sent away (וּבְפִשְׁעֵיכֶם שֻׁלְּחָה אִמְּכֶם). And where you lodge I will lodge-your bed in exile This is what is written (הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב) (Song of Songs 3:1), on my bed at nights (עַל מִשְׁכָּבִי בַּלֵּילוֹת). Your people are my people-these are Yisrael And your Elohim is my Elohim-this is Kudsha Berikh Hu Elimelekh is Yod (אֱלִימֶלֶךְ דָּא י׳), Naomi is Heh (נָעֳמִי דָּא ה׳), Machlon is Vav (מַחְלוֹן ו׳), Ruth-upon her the Heh cleaved and she became Torah (רוּת בָּהּ אִתְדַּבְּקַת ה׳ וְאִתְעֲבִידַת תּוֹרָה). And about her it is said (וַעֲלָהּ אִתְּמַר) (Song of Songs 2:12), and the voice of the tor is heard in our land (וְקוֹל הַתּוֹר נִשְׁמַע בְּאַרְצֵנוּ).
Orpah is the mother of the Erev Rav (עָרְפָּה אִימָּא דְעִרֶב רַב), of whom it is said (דְּאִתְּמַר בְּהוֹן) (Exodus 34:9), for it is a stiff-necked people (כִּי עַם קְשֵׁה עֹרֶף הוּא). She returned to her corruption (דְּחָזְרַת לְסָרְחָנָה), and returned the nape to her mother-in-law (וְחָזְרַת עֹרֶף לְגַבֵּי חֲמוֹתָהּ). Destruction, the husband of Orpah (כִּלְיוֹן בַּעִילָהּ דְּעָרְפָּה), is the evil inclination, from which destruction comes to the world (יֵצֶר הָרָע דְאַתְיָא כְּלָיָיה מִנֵּיהּ לְעָלְמָא). And he is destruction (וְאִיהוּ כִּלְיוֹן), and his wife is Lilith of destruction (וְאִתְּתֵיהּ לִילִית כְּלָיָיה).
The Neshama and the Nefesh, when a man is guilty in sins and they prevail over his limbs (נְשָׁמָה וְנֶפֶשׁ כַּד בַּר נַשׁ אִיהוּ מְחוּיָיב בְּחוֹבִין וּמִתְגַּבְּרִין עַל אֵבָרִים), the Neshmat Chayyim departs from the body (נִשְׁמַת חַיִּים אִסְתַּלְּקַת מִן גּוּפָא), and the Nefesh remains there (וְנֶפֶשׁ אִשְׁתְּאָרַת תַּמָּן). And about it, it is said (וְאִתְּמַר בָּהּ) (Ruth 3:7), and she uncovered his feet (וַתְּגַל מַרְגְּלוֹתָיו). To whom? To the Tzaddik, and this is Brit Milah [the Covenant of Circumcision] (לְגַבֵּי מָאן לְגַבֵּי צַדִּיק וְדָא בְרִית מִילָה), which is Boaz (דְאִיהוּ בּוֹעַז), in whom was strength over his inclination (בּ״וֹ עַ״ז תַּקִּיף עַל יִצְרֵיהּ). And he measured six barley ears and placed them upon her His thighs are pillars of six (שׁוֹקָיו עַמּוּדֵי שֵׁשׁ) (Song of Songs 5:16). He placed them upon her for her ornament And it was established: and the two of them went- in the supernal and the lower Shekhinta And about them it is said (וְעֲלַיְיהוּ אִתְּמַר) (Ruth 4:17), and the neighbors called him a name, saying: a son is born to Naomi (וַתִּקְרֶאנָה לוֹ הַשְּׁכֵנוֹת שֵׁם, לֵאמֹר יֻלַּד בֵּן לְנָעֳמִי). This is the middle pillar, of whom it is said (Exodus 4:22), My firstborn son is Yisrael When Yisrael sinned and caused the Shekhinta to depart (כַּד חָאבוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל וְגָרְמוּ לְאִסְתַּלְקָא שְׁכִינְתָּא), about her it is said, in the lower Shekhinta: and she uncovered his feet (עֲלָהּ אִתְּמַר בִּשְׁכִינְתָּא תַּתָּאָה וַתְּגַל מַרְגְּלוֹתָיו) (Ruth 3:7).
