Another explanation: and the two of them went-this speaks of body and soul And from the love of the body, when he is a Ba‘al Teshuvah (וּמֵרְחִימוּ דְגוּפָא כַּד אִיהוּ בַּעַל תְּשׁוּבָה), the soul will say to it: where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried (יֵימָא נַפְשָׁא לְגַבָּהּ בַּאֲשֶׁר תָּמוּתִי אָמוּת וְשָׁם אֶקָּבֵר) (Ruth 1:17). And the soul shall not move from the grave from it And about her it is said (וַעֲלָהּ אִתְּמַר) (Proverbs 6:22), when you walk it shall guide you-in this world (בְּהִתְהַלֶּכְךָ תַּנְחֶה אוֹתָךְ בְּעָלְמָא דֵין); when you lie down, it shall watch over you-in the grave (בְּשָׁכְבְּךָ תִּשְׁמוֹר עָלֶיךָ בְּקִבְרָא); and when you awake, for the resurrection of the dead [Some say: for the World to Come], it shall talk with you (וַהֲקִיצוֹתָ לִתְחִיַּית הַמֵּתִים [נ״א לְעוֹלָם הַבָּא] הִיא תְשִׂיחֶךָ). This is the soul to the body And Holy Luminary, if the body does not return in Teshuvah, and returns the nape toward Teshuvah (וּבוֹצִינָא קַדִּישָׁא אִם גּוּפָא לָא חָזַר בִּתְיוּבְתָּא, וְחָזַר עוֹרֶף לְגַבֵּי תְּיוּבְתָּא), the soul separates from it and is called Orpah (נֶפֶשׁ אִתְפָּרַשׁ מִנֵּיהּ וְאִתְקְרֵי עָרְפָּ״ה), and the body is lost from both worlds (וְגוּפָא דָא אִתְאֲבִיד מִתְּרֵין עָלְמִין).
He said to him: Sava, Sava (אָמַר לֵיהּ סָבָא סָבָא), behold, how many graves in vain (וְהָא כַּמָּה קִבְרִין לְמַגָּנָא). For if the body is destroyed, upon what shall the soul arise for the resurrection of the dead? For surely the body is destroyed (דְּהָא וַדַּאי גּוּפָא אִתְאֲבִיד), and it is said that it is destroyed from both worlds (וְאִתְּמַר דְּאִתְאֲבִיד מִתְּרֵין עָלְמִין). And behold, he descended to his women, and there was intercourse for generations If so, how many graves in vain! But surely Kudsha Berikh Hu does not change the works of His hands For surely this world and the World to Come, which are the heavens and earth of Kudsha Berikh Hu, are they And about them David said (וַעֲלַיְיהוּ אָמַר דָוִד) (Psalms 115:16), the heavens, the heavens are Hashem’s (הַשָּׁמַיִם שָׁמַיִם לַיהו״ה). The earth: I shall walk before Hashem in the lands of the living (Psalms 116:9). About them it is said (עֲלַיְיהוּ אִתְּמַר), this world and the World to Come in the Name of Hashem (עָלְמָא דֵין וְעָלְמָא דְאָתֵי בִּשְׁמָא דְיהו״ה). This is what is written (הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב) (Psalms 96:11), let the heavens rejoice and let the earth be glad (יִשְׂמְחוּ הַשָּׁמַיִם וְתָגֵל הָאָרֶץ). When? At the time when it is said of the heavens and the earth of Samael and the serpent (אֵימָתַי בְּזִמְנָא דְאִתְּמַר לְגַבֵּי שָׁמַיִם וְהָאָרֶץ דְּסמא״ל וְנָחָשׁ), for the heavens shall vanish like smoke and the earth shall wear out like a garment (כִּי שָׁמַיִם כֶּעָשָׁן נִמְלָחוּ וְהָאָרֶץ כַּבֶּגֶד תִּבְלֶה) (Isaiah 51:6). And afterward He will erase them and destroy these appointed ones over them
Immediately, Kudsha Berikh Hu will renew for them heavens and earth (מִיָּד יְחַדֵּשׁ לוֹן קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא לִשְׁמַיָּא וְאַרְעָא), that shall be erased because of these evil appointed ones (דְּיִתְמַחוּן בְּגִין אִלֵּין מְמַנָּן בִּישִׁין). This is what is written (הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב) (Isaiah 66:22), for as the new heavens and the new earth which I am making, and so forth (כִּי כַאֲשֶׁר הַשָּׁמַיִם הַחֲדָשִׁים וְהָאָרֶץ הַחֲדָשָׁה אֲשֶׁר אֲנִי עֹשֶׂה וְגוֹ׳). And all is so that the works of His hands will not be erased (וְכֹלָּא בְּגִין דְּלָא יִשְׁתֵּצוּן עוֹבְדֵי יְדוֹי), which are the souls and the bodies that were destroyed from both worlds (דְּאִינוּן נִשְׁמָתִין וְגוּפִין דְּאִתְאֲבִידוּ מִתְּרֵין עָלְמִין), and those wealthy ones in exile-for this world is theirs (וְאִלֵּין עֲתִירִין דִּבְגָלוּתָא, בְּגִין דְּהַאי עָלְמָא אִיהוּ דִלְהוֹן). But the poor, who are the Righteous (אֲבָל מִסְכְּנֵי דְאִינוּן צַדִּיקַיָּא), good is their portion for those good worlds (טוּבָא דִלְהוֹן לְאִינוּן עָלְמִין טָבִין), in which were created the two Torot, the Written Orayta and the Oral Orayta (דִּי בְהוֹן אִתְבְּרִיאוּ תְּרֵי תּוֹרוֹת אוֹרַיְיתָא דְּבִכְתָב וְאוֹרַיְיתָא דִבְעַל פֶּה). For their reward is there, and because of the earth below, the land of the living There are bodies for the holy Neshamot that were created in the Name of Hashem And the body of Moshe, of whom it is said (וְגוּפָא דְמֹשֶׁה דְאִתְּמַר בֵּיהּ) (Deuteronomy 34:7), his eye had not dimmed and his moisture had not departed (לֹא כָהֲתָה עֵינוֹ וְלֹא נָס לֵחֹה), from there was (מִתַּמָּן הֲוָה).
And because of this he sought mercy that he would not die and go forth from it And not upon the body of this world, which is called sandal in relation to it About it, it is said to him (דַּעֲלֵיהּ אִתְּמַר לֵיהּ) (Exodus 3:5), remove your shoes from upon your feet (שַׁל נְעָלֶיךָ מֵעַל רַגְלֶיךָ). And Adam and beasts and animals and birds there-these are the work of Bereshit And they are in the supernal likeness of those of whom it is said in the Merkava (Ezekiel 1:10), and the likeness of their faces-the face of a man, and so forth These are the supernal angels, about whom it is said (Isaiah 64:3), He acts for the one who waits for Him And there is the Tree of Life, that whoever eats from it, it is said of him (Bereshit 3:22), and eat and live forever And there are thrones of gold and silver and precious stones (וְתַמָּן כָּרְסְיָין דִּי דַּהֲבָא וְכַסְפָּא וְאַבְנִין יַקִּירִין), and couches of silver and gold (וְעַרְשִׂין דְּכַסְפָּא וְדַהֲבָא). And the 248 commandments which Moshe taught to Yisrael in this world (וְרַמַ״ח פִּקּוּדִין דְּמַנִּי לוֹן מֹשֶׁה לְיִשְׂרָאֵל בְּהַאי עָלְמָא), to purify the 248 limbs of that body (לְדַכָּאָה רְמַ״ח אֵבָרִים דְהַהוּא גוּפָא). And the body of this lowly world is sandal to the soul (וְגוּפָא דְהַאי עָלְמָא שְׁפֵלָא אִיהוּ סַנְדָּל לְנִשְׁמָתָא), which was defiled [Some say: became defiled] with the filth of this world (דְּאִתְטַנַּף [נ״א וְאִתְטַנַּפְתּ] בְּזוּהֲמָא דְהַאי עָלְמָא). Behold here, thirty-one times is Bereshit explained And ten utterances, and thirty-two paths-behold seventy-two And it is necessary to explain them He opened and said: Bereshit
The Thirty-Second Tikkun
Bereshit is the first utterance for all And it includes two commandments, “Anochi” and “You shall have no [other gods]” (וְאִיהוּ כְּלִיל תְּרֵין דִּבּוּרִין אָנֹכִי וְלֹא יִהְיֶה לְךָ) (Exodus 20:2), that were said in one speech And both of them are hinted in the word Bereshit Because of this: Bereshit - Alef-Bet Reshit Alef is “Anochi,” Bet is “You shall have no [other gods]” (א״ב א׳ אָנֹכִי ב׳ לֹא יִהְיֶה לְךָ). And all is in one letter, Bet And this is the Bet from Bereshit
