“And Elohim said: Let the earth sprout grass…” Rabbi El'azar said (אָמַר רַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר אַבָּא): But behold, it called her dry land (וְהָא קָרָא לֵיהּ יַבָּשָׁה). From where is it: “Let the earth sprout”? He said to him (אָמַר לֵיהּ): My son, thus is learned Teshuvah for all the children of the world (בְּרִי הָכִי אוֹלִיף תְּיוּבְתָּא לְכָל בְּנֵי עָלְמָא).

For if a man returns in Teshuvah, the flowing that had departed descends upon her And what had been called “dry land,” He calls her “earth” (וּמַה דַּהֲוָה יַבָּשָׁה קָרָא לָהּ אֶרֶץ). And the river that had dried and parched, He calls it “gathering of waters” and “seas” (וְנָהָר דַּהֲוָה חָרֵב וְיָבֵשׁ קָרָא לֵיהּ מִקְוֵה הַמַּיִם וְיַמִּים). This is that which is written: “And Elohim called the dry land earth, and the gathering of the waters He called seas” (Bereshit 1:10) At that time, when she was called “earth,” what is written in her: “And Elohim said: Let the earth sprout” (Bereshit 1:11) To bring forth seeds and branches, which are neshamot, each one according to its kind These neshamot were decreed from His Throne of Glory And these spirits were decreed from the angels And these souls were decreed from the Ofanim Each one brought forth according to its kind, each as is fitting

“A tree bearing fruit” - this is the talmid chakham (Torah scholar) “Producing fruit” - this is his mate Each as is fitting (לְכָל חַד כִּדְקָא יָאוּת) - each one brought forth according to its kind (כָּל חַד אַפִּיק לִזְנַיְיהוּ). And furthermore: “A tree bearing fruit” - this is the middle pillar “Producing fruit” - this is the Tzaddik “Whose seed is in it upon the earth” - this is the Shekhinta (אֲשֶׁר זַרְעוֹ בוֹ עַל הָאָרֶץ דָּא שְׁכִינְתָּא), for all seeds are included in her (דְכָל זַרְעִין אִתְכְּלִילָן בָּהּ). And here is the commandment of fruitfulness and multiplication: to produce branches and seeds

This is that which is written: “He did not create it a waste; He formed it to be inhabited” (Isaiah 45:18) And whoever neglects fruitfulness and multiplication, it is as if he returns that earth to dry land (וּמָאן דְּאִתְבַּטַּל מִפִּרְיָה וְרִבְיָה, כְּאִלּוּ אַחְזַר לְהַהִיא אֶרֶץ יַבָּשָׁה), and prevents blessing from her (וּמָנַע בִּרְכָאָן מִינָהּ). Each according to his level Whoever damages below, damages above, at the place where his neshamah was decreed

The Forty-Fourth Tikkun

Bereshit - there are two, there is fire And concerning them it is said: “And Elohim said: Let there be luminaries in the firmament of the heavens” (Bereshit 1:14) Me’orot [luminaries] is written deficient of Vav - this is the Written Orayta What are me’orot [luminaries]? - this is the Oral Orayta And even though it has been established: me’orot deficient is Lilith (וְאַף עַל גַּב דְּאוּקְמוּהָ מְאֹרֹת חָסֵר דָּא לִילִית), is the seventy faces to the Orayta (שַׁבְעִין אַנְפִּין לְאוֹרַיְיתָא). And because of this: me’orot [luminaries] in this place, of which it is said: “For the commandment is a lamp, and Torah is light” (Proverbs 6:23) The middle pillar (עַמּוּדָא דְאֶמְצָעִיתָא). And concerning them it is said: “The greater luminary to rule the day, and the lesser luminary to rule the night” (Bereshit 1:16)

Here is the commandment to do charity “The greater luminary” - this is the mystery of the wealthy “The lesser luminary” - this is the mystery of the poor And just as the moon borrows from the sun, and has no light except from that which the sun gives her (וּכְמָה דְסִיהֲרָא לוֵוֵה מִן שִׁמְשָׁא, וְלָא אִית לָהּ נְהוֹרָא אֶלָּא מִמַּה דְּיָהִיב לָהּ שִׁמְשָׁא), so the Shekhinta says: “Lend to me, and I will repay” (הָכִי שְׁכִינְתָּא אָמְרַת לְווּ עָלַי וַאֲנִי פּוֹרֵעַ). Thus, so must a man be one who lends to the poor And in this manner the stars and constellations borrow one from another And the angels, this one from that one And the mystery of the matter: they receive one from another So too the Shekhinta, who is the holy moon, borrows from Kudsha Berikh Hu and receives from Him Of Him it is said: “For Hashem Elohim is a sun and shield” (Psalms 84:12) And so Yehoshua received from Moshe As it has been established: “The face of Moshe is like the face of the sun, and the face of Yehoshua is like the face of the moon” (וּכְמָה דְאוּקְמוּהוּ פְּנֵי מֹשֶׁה כִּפְנֵי חַמָּה וּפְנֵי יְהוֹשֻׁעַ כִּפְנֵי לְבָנָה). And so were all the prophets before Moshe like the moon and the stars before the sun, that they had no light except from the sun

The Forty-Fifth Tikkun

Bereshit bara Elohim (בְּרֵאשִׁית בָּרָא אלהי״ם), El ha-yam [God of the sea] (אֵ״ל הַיָּ״ם), the sea of Orayta (יַמָּא דְאוֹרַיְיתָא). And concerning it, it is said: “And Elohim said: Let the waters swarm with a swarm of living soul, and let a bird fly above the earth” (Bereshit 1:20)

Here is the commandment to fill oneself with Orayta Of which it is said: “Ho, all who thirst, go to the waters” (Isaiah 55:1) And those who engage in Orayta inherit the living soul from the Shekhinta This is that which is written: “Let the waters swarm with a swarm of living soul” (Bereshit 1:20) “And a bird shall fly” - this is spirit, of which it is said: “For a bird of the heavens shall carry the voice, and the one who has wings shall tell the matter” (Ecclesiastes 10:20) And this is Hashem, the middle pillar
