Chapter Five (פֶּרֶק חֲמִישִּׁי)

The Inner Light of the seven shattered Kelim ascended above into the inward parts of Binah (הָאוֹר הַפְּנִימִי שֶׁל ז׳ כֵּלִים הַנִּשְׁבָּרִים, עָלָה לְמַעְלָה לִמְעֵי בִּינָה), after the shattering of their Kelim (אַחֲרֵי שְׁבִירַת כֵּלֵיהֶם), for the Kli, which is their body, descended downward (כִּי הַכְּלִי שֶׁהוּא גּוּף שֶׁלָּהֶם, יָרַד לְמַטָּה), and the Ruach, which is the Inner Light — the soul of the Kli — returns above to the Living God, which is Binah “who gave it” (וְהָרוּחַ שֶׁהוּא אוֹר פְּנִימִי נִשְׁמַת הַכְּלִי, תָּשׁוּב לְמַעְלָה אֶל אֱלֹהִים חַיִּים, הִיא הַבִּינָה "אֲשֶׁר נָתְנָה"). For from her they were emanated and drawn forth, and she sent them to Chokhmah (כִּי מִמֶּנָּה נֶאֶצְלוּ וְנִשְׁפָּעוּ וּשְׁלָחָה אוֹתָם לַחָכְמָה), for the more the Light ascends and is given permission to ascend, it receives greater pleasure in rising to the Light, the Fountain from which upper and lower beings yearn to draw (כִּי כָּל מַה שֶׁמִּתְעַלֶּה הָאוֹר וְנִיתַּן לוֹ רְשׁוּת לַעֲלוֹת, יֵשׁ לוֹ יוֹתֵר הֲנָאָה לְהִתְעַלּוֹת אֶל הָאוֹר, הַמַּעְיָן שֶׁמִּמֶּנּוּ מִתְאַוִּים עֶלְיוֹנִים וְתַחְתּוֹנִים לִשְׁאֹב). Therefore from there they returned to ascend into the interior of Chokhmah (לָכֵן מִשָּׁם חָזְרוּ לַעֲלוֹת אֶל תּוֹךְ חָכְמָה), and from Chokhmah they wished to rise into Keter (וּמֵחָכְמָה רָצוּ לַעֲלוֹת אֶל הַכֶּתֶר), but it was sealed and did not receive them according to the intent of the One Who Intends, that only the Keterim should rise there (וְנִסְתַּם וְלֹא קִבְּלָם בְּכַוָּנַת הַמְכַוֵּן, שֶׁלֹּא יַעֲלוּ שָׁם רַק הַכְּתָרִים). And the rest of the Orot were to be built below in the mystery of Ze’ir and His Nukvah (וּשְׁאָר הָאוֹרוֹת יִבָּנוּ לְמַטָּה בְּסוֹד זְעֵיר וְנוּקְבָּה). And His intention was also that windows of wheat and barley be opened in Chokhmah and Binah (וְגַם כַּוָּנָתוֹ הָיְתָה שֶׁיִּפָּתְחוּ חַלּוֹנוֹת חִטָּה וּשְׂעוֹרָה בַּחָכְמָה וּבִינָה), that Light might come forth from them each day, which the world greatly needs (שֶׁיֵּצֵא מֵהֶן אוֹר בְּכָל יוֹם, שֶׁהָעוֹלָם צָרִיךְ אֲלֵיהֶם מְאֹד), and this is the secret of “piercing the windows of the firmament” (וְזֶהוּ סוֹד וּבוֹקֵעַ חַלּוֹנֵי רָקִיעַ). Therefore they returned to descend into Chokhmah (לָכֵן חָזְרוּ לָרֶדֶת אֶל תּוֹךְ חָכְמָה), and she could not contain them (וְהִיא לֹא יָכְלָה לְהָכִיל אוֹתָם), and a small fissure formed in her in the mystery of wheat (וְנַעֲשָׂה בָּהּ מְעַט סְדִיקָה בְּסוֹד חִטָּה), and from this fissure all the aforementioned Orot [Lights] descended from her (וּמִן הַסֶּדֶק הַזֶּה יָרְדוּ מִמֶּנָּה כָּל הָאוֹרוֹת הַנִּזְכָּרִים), and also from its own Inner Orot [Inner Lights] (וְגַם מִן הָאוֹרוֹת הַפְּנִימִיִּים שֶׁלָּה עַצְמָהּ), and they are the Nivlot [Fallen Emanations] of Chokhmah, from which the Partzuf of Ze’ir Anpin was formed (וְהֵם נוֹבְלוֹת חָכְמָה שֶׁנַּעֲשָׂה מֵהֶם פַּרְצוּף זְעֵיר אַנְפִּין), as I will explain with the help of Heaven (כַּאֲשֶׁר אַפְרֵשׁ בְּסִיַּיעְתָּא דִּשְׁמַיָּא). And afterward the seven Inner Orot [Inner Lights] of the seven shattered Kelim [Vessels] descended into Binah (וְאַחַר כָּךְ יָרְדוּ הַז׳ אוֹרוֹת פְּנִימִיּוֹת שֶׁל הַז׳ כֵּלִים הַנִּשְׁבָּרִים לְתוֹךְ בִּינָה), and she could not contain them (וְלֹא יָכְלָה לְהָכִיל אוֹתָם), and she too was fissured, a longer fissure, in the mystery of barley (וְנִסְדְּקָה גַּם הִיא סֶדֶק יוֹתֵר אָרוֹךְ בְּסוֹד שְׂעוֹרָה), and they also fell from her—meaning, from the Light of Essence—a few Orot [Lights] (וְנָפְלוּ גַּם מִמֶּנָּה, רָצוֹן לוֹמַר מֵאוֹר עַצְמוּת, אוֹרוֹת קְצָת), together with the Orot [Lights] of the seven shattered Kelim [Vessels] downward (עִם אוֹרוֹת ז׳ כֵּלִים הַנִּשְׁבָּרִים לְמַטָּה), and those Orot [Lights] which fell from her—meaning, from its own Inner Orot [Inner Lights] downward—they are called the Nivlot [Fallen Emanations] of Binah, from which the Nukvah was built, that is, the Shekhinah (וְאוֹתָם הָאוֹרוֹת שֶׁנָּפְלוּ מִמֶּנָּה דּהַיְינוּ מֵאוֹר פְּנִימִי שֶׁלָּהּ לְמַטָּה, הֵם הַנִּקְרָאִים נוֹבְלוֹת בִּינָה, שֶׁנִּבְנָה מֵהֶם נוּקְבָּה הַיְנוּ הַשְּׁכִינָה). And from those Orot [Lights] of the seven Kelim [Vessels] which entered into Binah—as soon as they entered the second time Ein Sof, blessed be He, decreed upon her (גָּזַר אֵין סוֹף יִתְבָּרַךְ עָלֶיהָ), that she should take the seven Keterim from the seven Inner Orot [Inner Lights] of the seven shattered Kelim [Vessels] (שֶׁתִּקַּח הַז׳ כְּתָרִים מֵהַז׳ אוֹרוֹת פְּנִימִיּוֹת שֶׁל הַז׳ כֵּלִים הַנִּשְׁבָּרִים), and send them to the Keter within Keter (וּתִשְׁלַחֵם לַכֶּתֶר שֶׁבַּכֶּתֶר), and from them a complete Partzuf of Keter would be formed (וְשֶׁיֵּעָשֶׂה מֵהֶם פַּרְצוּף כֶּתֶר שָׁלֵם). And this Partzuf is called Reisha d'La Ityada [The Unknowable Head] (וְהַפַּרְצוּף הַזֶּה נִקְרָא רֵישָׁא דְּלָא אִתְיְדַע), and likewise the seven Chokhmot to the cracked Chokhmah, and a complete Partzuf was made, called Reisha d'Ayin [Head of Nothingness] (וְכֵן הַז׳ חָכְמוֹת לַחָכְמָה הַסְּדוּקָה, וְנַעֲשָׂה פַּרְצוּף שָׁלֵם שֶׁנִּקְרָא רֵישָׁא דְּאַיִן), and the seven Binot she retained for herself, and a complete Partzuf was made from ten Sefirot, called Reisha d'Arich Anpin [Head of Arich Anpin] (וְכֵן הַז׳ בִּינוֹת הֶחֱזִיקָה הִיא לְעַצְמָהּ, וְנַעֲשָׂה פַּרְצוּף שָׁלֵם מֵעֶשֶׂר סְפִירוֹת הַנִּקְרָא רֵישָׁא דְּאֲרִיךְ אַנְפִּין). And you, the contemplator, will understand this in the coming chapters with the help of the Creator and His Shekhinta (וְאַתָּה הַמַּעְיֵן תָּבִין זֶה בַּפְּרָקִים הַבָּאִים בְּעֶזְרַת הַבּוֹרֵא וּשְׁכִינָתֵיהּ).
