Chapter Twenty-Eight (פֶּרֶק עֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁמוֹנָה)
And you need to know the first Alef-Bet of the Partzuf of A"L, how its light was extended (וְצָרִיךְ אַתָּה לָדַעַת הָאַלְפָּא בֵּיתָא הָרִאשׁוֹנָה שֶׁל פַּרְצוּף אַ״ל אֵיךְ נִתְפַּשֵּׁט אוֹרוֹ), and the reason for the linear path of each and every letter in its form (וְטַעַם דֶּרֶךְ קַו שֶׁל כָּל אוֹת וָאוֹת בְּתַמוּנָתוֹ), whether straight or on a diagonal (בְּיוֹשֶׁר אוֹ בֶאֱלַכְסוֹן), and afterward He brought forth in His likeness and image until the end of all the letters of the Alef-Bets (וְאַחַר כָּךְ הוֹלִיד בְּדִמְיוֹנוֹ וּבְצַלְמוֹ עַד סוֹף כָּל הָאוֹתִיּוֹת שֶׁל הָאַלְפָּא בֵּיתוֹת). And we shall begin from the letter Alef, which is made from one hundred points (וְנַתְחִיל מִן אוֹת הָאַלֶף הַנַּעֲשִׂית מִן מֵאָה נְקוּדוֹת), and so too each and every letter (וְכֵן כָּל אוֹת וָאוֹת). And the early sages questioned him on this matter (וְהִקְשׁוּ עָלָיו עַל עִנְיָן זֶה הָרִאשׁוֹנִים), why did he not begin to create the letters from Yod, since it is a point and preceded all (לָמָּה לֹא הִתְחִיל לִבְרוֹא הָאוֹתִיּוֹת מִיוֹ״ד, הוֹאִיל וְהִיא נְקוּדָּה וְקָדְמָה לַכֹּל).
Know that every point, when it is adjacent to Ein Sof, the light increases within it (דַּע כָּל נְקוּדָּה בִּהְיוֹתָה סָמוּךְ לְאֵין סוֹף מִתְרַבֶּה בָּהּ הָאוֹר), and because of the great light, immediately a line descended from it (וּמִפְּנֵי הָאוֹר הַגָּדוֹל תֵּכֶף וּמִיָּד יָרַד מִמֶּנָּה הַקַּו), and that line desired to rise and delight in the light of Ein Sof like the point (וְאוֹתוֹ הַקַּו רָצָה לַעֲלוֹת וּלְהִתְעַנֵּג בְּאוֹר אֵין סוֹף כַּמוֹ הַנְּקוּדָּה), and it inclined away from it by the measure of two points (וְנָטְתָה מִמֶּנָּה כְּשִׁעוּר שְׁתֵּי נְקוּדוֹת), meaning that the head of the line separated from the Yod (הֵינוּ נִפְרַד רֹאשׁ הַקַּו מֵהַיוֹ״ד), and it ascended on a diagonal upward (וְעָלָה דֶּרֶךְ אֱלַכְסוֹן לְמַעְלָה), because it was ashamed before its cause (מִפְּנֵי שֶׁנִּתְבַּיֵּשׁ מֵעִילָתוֹ), and therefore it did not ascend brazenly in a straight path (וְלָכֵן לֹא עָלָה בְּחֻצְפָּה דֶּרֶךְ יָשָׁר), and it ascended upward on a diagonal (וְעָלְתָה לְמַעְלָה בֶּאֱלַכְסוֹן). And since the point is forever the cause of the light that descends from it (וּלְהִיוֹת שֶׁהַנְּקוּדָּה עִילָּתָה לְעוֹלָם הָאוֹר הַיּוֹרֵד מִמֶּנָּה), but it is not as great as at the beginning (אֲבָל אֵינוֹ כָּל כָּךְ גָּדוֹל כַּבַּתְּחִלָּה), because of the light of the line that went out from it (מִפְּנֵי אוֹר הַקַּו שֶׁיָּצָא מִמֶּנָּה), and this second light which descends from the aforementioned point (וְאוֹר זֶה הַשֵּׁנִי הַיּוֹרֵד מִנְּקוּדָּה הַנִּזְכֶּרֶת), is forever clinging to the line (הוּא נִדְבַּק לְעוֹלָם בַּקַּו), even though the line deviates from the straightness of its place (הַגַּם כִּי הַקַּו נוֹטֶה מִיּשֶׁר מְקוֹמוֹ), the point always goes with the line (הַנְּקוּדָּה הוֹלֶכֶת לְעוֹלָם עִם הַקַּו). That is, since the first line separated from the point and rose upward (דְּהַיְנוּ כִּי קַו הָרִאשׁוֹן נִפְרַד מֵהַנְּקוּדָּה וְעָלָה לְמַעְלָה), the point brought forth from its light a second line (חָזְרָה הַנְּקוּדָּה לְהוֹצִיא מֵאוֹרָה קַו שֵׁנִי), which descended and clung to the first line (שֶׁיָּרַד וְנִדְבַּק בַּקַּו הָרִאשׁוֹן). And since the second line desired to cling to the head of the first line, which is the superior part of the first line (וּבְהִיוֹת שֶׁהַקַּו הַשֵּׁנִי הָיָה רְצוֹנוֹ לְהִדָּבֵק בְּרֹאשׁ קַו הָרִאשׁוֹן שֶׁהוּא הַחֵלֶק הַיּוֹתֵר מְעוּלֶה מִן הַקַּו הָרִאשׁוֹן), and since that part was close to the boundary of the Emanator (וּבְהִיוֹת שֶׁהַחֵלֶק הַזֶּה הָיָה קָרוֹב אֶל גְּבוּל הַמַּאֲצִיל), the second line had no power to cling to that part, for it was too exalted (לֹא הָיָה כֹּחַ בַּקַּו הַשֵּׁנִי לְהִדָּבֵק בְּאוֹתוֹ חֵלֶק כִּי הָיָה מְעוּלֶה). Therefore, it clung in the middle of the line, which is the end of the first part (לָכֵן נִדְבַּק בְּאֶמְצַע הַקַּו שֶׁהוּא סוֹף חֵלֶק הָרִאשׁוֹן), and since that first part of the line which turned from the point rose close to Ein Sof (וּלְהִיוֹת שֶׁאוֹתוֹ הַחֵלֶק הָרִאשׁוֹן שֶׁל קַו שֶׁנָּטָה מֵהַנְּקוּדָּה עָלָה סָמוּךְ לְאֵין סוֹף), the light became multiplied within it (נִתְרַבֶּה הָאוֹר בּוֹ), and it was not able to descend (וְלֹא הָיָה יָכוֹל לֵירֵד), except by a straight path (כִּי אִם בְּדֶרֶךְ יָשָׁר), and it descended downward from the head of the line in a straight path (וְיָרַד לְמַטָּה מֵרֹאשׁ הַקַּו בְּדֶרֶךְ יָשָׁר) until the place that is the end of the line (עַד מָקוֹם שֶׁמַּגִּיעַ סוֹף הַקַּו), which it is impossible to cross entirely (שֶׁאִי אֶפְשָׁר לַעֲבוֹר כּוּלוֹ), because of the points that are beneath it, and the Ein Sof that surrounds them (מִפְּנֵי הַנְּקוּדוֹת שֶׁיֵּשׁ לְמַטָּה מִמֶּנָּה וְהָאֵין סוֹף הַמַּקִּיף אוֹתָם). And the flow multiplied at the end of the line (וְנִתְרַבֶּה הַשֶּׁפַע בְּסוֹף הַקַּו), which descended from the head of the line that ascended (שֶׁיָּרַד מֵרֹאשׁ הַקַּו שֶׁעָלָה), and it was not able to spread downward (וְלֹא הָיָה יָכוֹל לְהִתְפַּשֵּׁט לְמַטָּה), and it spread to the sides, this way and that (וְנִתְפַּשֵּׁט מִן הַצַּדָּדִין אָנָה וָאָנָה), and this is the Dalet which is under the Alef (וְהַיְנוּ הַדָּלֶת שֶׁהִיא תַּחַת הָאַלֶף).
