Mishnah 9 (מִשְׁנָה ט׳)
Harps which David made, one thousand (כִּנּוֹרוֹת שֶׁעָשָׂה דָּוִד אֶלֶף), and nevalim [harps], seven thousand, for favor upon Israel (וּנְבָלִים ז׳ אֲלָפִים לְרָצוֹן עַל יִשְׂרָאֵל), cymbals for song and praises, to give thanks and praise to the God of Israel (צִלְצְלִים לְשִׁיר וּלְתוֹשְׁבָּחוֹת לְהוֹדוֹת וּלְהַלֵּל לֵאלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל), which were given to Moshe from Sinai (שֶׁנָּתְנוּ לוֹ לְמֹשֶׁה מִסִּינַי). And it was written upon them: “Beneath the feet of the Throne of Glory, a sapphire stone, the likeness of a throne” (וְכָתוּב עֲלֵיהֶן מִתַּחַת רַגְלֵי כִסֵּא הַכָּבוֹד אֶבֶן סַפִּיר דְּמוּת כִּסֵּא). And the harps were of almug wood (וְהַכִּנּוֹרוֹת מֵעֲצֵי אַלְמוֹגִים), and they were overlaid with fine gold (הָיוּ מְצוּפִים זָהָב טוֹב). And eight precious stones were upon each and every harp (וְאַבָנִים ח׳ עַל כָּל כִּנּוֹר וְכִנּוֹר), which the clouds, the se'irim, and the spirits that were subject to Shlomo would bring (שֶׁהָיוּ מֵבִיאִין אוֹתָם הֶעֲנָנִים וְהַשְּׂעִירִים וְהָרוּחוֹת שֶׁהָיוּ מְשֻׁעְבָּדִים לִשְׁלֹמֹה). And upon each and every harp there was a bell of polished copper (וְעַל כָּל כִּנּוֹר וְכִנּוֹר הָיָה פַּעֲמוֹן שֶׁל נְחֹשֶׁת קַלָּל), from before the Throne of Glory (מִלִּפְנֵי כִסֵּא הַכָּבוֹד). And one precious stone, good, precious, and choice, which Moshe quarried on Mount Sinai (וְאֶבֶן אַחַת טוֹבָה יְקָרָה וּמְעוּלָּה שֶׁחָצַב מֹשֶׁה בְּהַר סִינַי), from beneath the Throne of Glory, upon the sapphire stone (מִתַּחַת כִּסֵּא הַכָּבוֹד עַל אֶבֶן הַסַּפִּיר). All these are hidden and concealed in Ein Tzidkiyah (הַכֹּל צְפוּנִים וּגְנוּזִים בְּעֵין צִדְקִיָּה), which the righteous ones knew (שֶׁהָיוּ יוֹדְעִים הַכְּשֵׁרִים), by the secret, lest they should, Heaven forbid, fall into the hand of the enemy who hated Israel (בְּסוֹד שֶׁיִּפְּלוּ חַס וְשָׁלוֹם בְּיַד צָר שֶׁהָיָה שׂוֹנֵא לְיִשְׂרָאֵל). For these vessels are used only for favor upon Israel (שֶׁכֵּלִים הָאֵלּוּ אֵין מִשְׁתַּמְּשִׁין בָּהֶם אֶלָּא לְרָצוֹן עַל יִשְׂרָאֵל). And Barukh and Tzidkiyah concealed them (וְהָיוּ גוֹנְזִים אוֹתָם בָּרוּךְ וְצִדְקִיָּה), so that the Kasdim [Chaldeans] would not, Heaven forbid, use them (שֶׁהַכַּשְׂדִּים לֹא יִשְׁתַּמְּשׁוּ בָהֶם חַס וְשָׁלוֹם). And they concealed them until the day when Israel returns to its former state (וְהִטְמִינוּם עַד הַיּוֹם שֶׁיָּשׁוּבוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל לְקַדְמוּתָן), and they will receive honor and everlasting glory (וְיִקְחוּ כָבוֹד וִיקָרַת עוֹלָם). When there shall be found for them the man whose name is David ben David (כְּשֶׁיִּמָּצֵא לָהֶם אִישׁ דָּוִד בֶּן דָּוִד שְׁמוֹ), and the silver and the gold will be revealed to him (וְיִתְגַּלֶּה לוֹ הַכֶּסֶף וְהַזָּהָב), when all Israel shall be gathered and ascend in a complete ascent to Jerusalem (כְּשֶׁיִּתְקַבְּצוּ כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל וְיַעֲלוּ עֲלִיָּה שְׁלֵמָה לִירוּשָׁלַיִם). Amen (אָמֵן).
