Chapter 16, Section 3 (פֶּרֶק ט״ז אוֹת ג׳)

3. And came Rabban Shimon ben Gamliel (ג. וּבָא רַבָּן שִׁמְעוֹן בֶּן גַּמְלִיאֵל), and Rabbi Eliezer the Great (וְרַבִּי אֱלִיעֶזֶר הַגָּדוֹל), and Rabbi Elazar ben Dama (וְרַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר בֶּן דַּמָּה), and Rabbi Eliezer ben Shamua (וְרַבִּי אֱלִיעֶזֶר בֶּן שְׁמוּעַ), and Rabbi Yochanan ben Dehavai (וְרַבִּי יוֹחָנָן בֶּן דְּהָבַאי), and Chananyah ben Chakinai (וְחֲנַנְיָה בֶּן חֲכִינַאי), and Yonatan ben Uziel (וְיוֹנָתָן בֶּן עוּזִיאֵל), and Rabbi Akiva (וְרַבִּי עֲקִיבָא), and Rabbi Yehudah ben Bava (וְרַבִּי יְהוּדָה בֶּן בָּבָא). We came and sat before him (בָּאנוּ וְיָשַׁבְנוּ לְפָנָיו), and all the multitude of chaveirim were standing on their feet (וְהָיוּ כָּל הֲמוֹן חֲבֵרִים עוֹמְדִים עַל רַגְלֵיהֶם), for they were seeing cubes of fire (כִּי הָיוּ רוֹאִים כּוּבִיּוֹת שֶׁל אֵשׁ), and torches of light (וּלְפִידֵי אוֹר), which separated between them and between us (שֶׁמַּפְסִיקִין בֵּינֵיהֶם וּבֵינֵינוּ). And Rabbi Nechunyah ben haKanah was sitting (וְרַבִּי נְחוּנְיָא בֶּן הַקָּנָה יוֹשֵׁב), and arranging before them all the words of the Merkavah (וּמְסַדֵּר לִפְנֵיהֶם אֶת כָּל דִּבְרֵי מֶרְכָּבָה): descent and ascent (יְרִידָה וַעֲלִיָּה), how one descends, who descends (הֵיאַךְ יוֹרֵד מִי שֶׁיוֹרֵד), and how one ascends, who ascends (וְהֵיאַךְ יַעֲלֶה מִי שֶׁיַּעֲלֶה).
